Current confirmed figures are 100 injured and 8 fatalities. (BBC)

According to sources, the BBC are currently translating a statement from Al Queda Europe claiming responsibility (confirmed by Bloomberg NY office).

There is still unknown casualties in the tube network between Kings Corss and Russell Sq where a train was trapped in a tunnel. (confirmed by Brother in law who is at Russell Sq).

Unconfirmed reports coming in of suspect packages being found at Brighton Sq station and outside the Home Office (Whitehall).

Blair is flying back to London and G8 leaders preapring to be evacuated to offshore locations (probably USS Saipan which is off the Scottish coast).

If you are trying to contact anyone in London, please be aware that the mobile networks have been comandeered for emergency use only. The BT Network is still functioning at approx 65% capacity. Scotland Yard will be launching an emergency phone number in the next 20 minutes for finding out about casualties. Any registered blood donors, expect an appeal message in the next two hours.

I will update as and when i hear more info.

UPDATE 1: Controlled explosions confirmed at Marble Arch and Liverpool St station.

Laurafennell 07 Jul 2005 14:42

i cant belive this has happen after such a great day yestoday! dose anyone know if its had any effect on the concert at leeds castle tommrrow

Chris 07 Jul 2005 14:44

UPDATE 2: Translation of statement is done - It came through Der Speigel in Germany and contains the correct code phrases for noting it as a genuine statement.

Chris 07 Jul 2005 14:46

UPDATE 3: Anyone travelling through Birmingham and leeds expect severe delays to all journeys - increased security levels delaying all routes in and out.

Anyone in Leeds city centre, the siege at HSBC Headingley in NOT, i repeat NOT connected to other events.

All I can say is that whoever is guilty of doing this 'you are the scum of the earth'.

Just received a text from FallenAngel 1000, and she's now with SultonFan, safe and sound....... what a relief!

My heartfelt thanks go out to SultonFan for stepping in and helping - FA was on her way to stay with me before the Leeds Castle concert, but now she's going to stay with SultonFan.

I'm so very proud to have such caring friends during an hour of need, especially when such wickedness has walked this earth today.

So, have y'all heard from everyone that is potentially effected by this? I certainly hope that everyone is OK.

Believe me when I say that all of us in the US are praying for all of you.

Take care and be safe.

Lets be very very proud of ALL the emergency services that have saved many lives today

This is awful! :(
My thoughts are with the English People.

Horrible. Just horrible.
Words fail..

This was written on a website claiming that they will bomb england and other countries. It's been translated and is on bbc. I felt physically sick as i read it.

"In the name of God, the merciful, the compassionate, may peace be upon the cheerful one and undaunted fighter, Prophet Muhammad, God's peace be upon him.

Nation of Islam and Arab nation: Rejoice for it is time to take revenge against the British Zionist Crusader government in retaliation for the massacres Britain is committing in Iraq and Afghanistan. The heroic mujahideen have carried out a blessed raid in London. Britain is now burning with fear, terror and panic in its northern, southern, eastern, and western quarters.

We have repeatedly warned the British Government and people. We have fulfilled our promise and carried out our blessed military raid in Britain after our mujahideen exerted strenuous efforts over a long period of time to ensure the success of the raid.

We continue to warn the governments of Denmark and Italy and all the Crusader governments that they will be punished in the same way if they do not withdraw their troops from Iraq and Afghanistan. He who warns is excused.

God says: "You who believe: If ye will aid (the cause of) Allah, He will aid you, and plant your feet firmly." "

Absolutely,

And the emergency procedure that was put in place for any terrorist attacks, which happened this morning has worked very well too!

SuperLoafMan 07 Jul 2005 16:27

What F*****g sick B******s!!!!

I hope they all f*****g burn in hell in the most painfull and horrific way!!!!

Mike Piercy 07 Jul 2005 16:30

This country will not be intimated by these people.

Our thoughts are with the relatives of those killled and injured.

The way we all travel around now means it could have been any one of us - take each day as it comes, enjoy your life.

Keep rockin'.

Britain will still continue to do things the way it always has. Thanks to our friends all over the world for messages of support.

Mike

L96 07 Jul 2005 16:50

Please take this opportunity to tell your friends and family you love them, not the bad guys that you hate them. That lets them win, and us good guys need to win this more.

needmoremeat 07 Jul 2005 17:17

God, you just can't believe it, can you? :( Coinciding with G8, and what a way to bring a country down after getting the olympics.
Looks like I got in touch with my brother via text just in time. He wasn't affected, thank God, but he may have to stay in London overnight. Remember the fire at King's Cross all those years ago? He was meant to be on that train, but that night for some reason he didn't go for that one!

Anyway, just hope the ******s realise they're actually going against what their 'god' wants by carrying out all these atrocities  Prayers for those affected by it.

AndrewG 07 Jul 2005 17:28

They think that it is some amazing accomplishment intentionally destroying innocent lives and families. I think it is the worst thing you can do while you are on this planet...

The best thing you can do in life is make someone very happy. If you can do that you will live forever and never be forgotten. :-)

dottie 07 Jul 2005 17:32

May the Gods of your faith go with you ...........

May you be protected and shielded from harm......

May the relatives who have lost family and friends find peace...
