Anyone good at quizzes?

:oops: Need help with two answers - they are driving me batty!!!

The answers relate to food or drink

1. Is this loaf the opposite of a French stick?

2. Strange Ali

I suspect the second one is an anagram. The first one thought of Meat Loaf immediately but can't relate it to the clue. Any help would be appreciated.
