Hi Folks

My sicko daughter wants any recommendations for horror movies (the sicker the better)

Anyone out there up for the challenge

(Nothing like "Wrong Turn" - Crap - she says)

Anyone seen Bundy????? Is it any good????

Have a wierd family  :wtf:

If you want horror with a black comedy twist try Dog Soldiers, I laughed all the way through it, but it has a scary edge too.

If you mean The Ted Bundy movie, yes I've seen it. Very, very disturbing subject matter.

Thanks for the warning - might steer her away from that one then 8O

For a decent horror movie that's good fun too, the "Scream" trilogy takes some beating. Each installment gets funnier and less scary, but they are all great popcorn horror films.

Similarly, Final Destination 1 and 2, and I Know What You Did Last Summer and it's sequel, I STILL Know What You Did Last Summer (thank GOD for copy and paste ), are "post modern" horror films in the same funny / scary vein.

I've always had a soft spot for the old Hammer horror movies .... Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, Boris Karloff. Must be the bats and vampires!

Try the original Japanese version of The Ring, "Ringu". Tne times better than the original.

That or Ichi The Killer.

That or the Silent Hill video game series. The Japs know how to scare people.

I find that the film 'The Black Cat' with Bela Lugozi creeps me out in a most satisfactory manner. It's black and white but really good and is a suspense horror movie which i find is better than those films with death and destruction at every turn. :lurk:

Failing that, make her watch Bambi. That is so cute and sad that it's freaky 8O

Have to agree with TRex - The Final Destination movies were great!!

Although, for a true scare, I've always gone back to The Hitcher with Rutger Hauer. Not much gore and it leaves alot of the "scare" to your own imagination. Oh, and Identity was awesome - fablous twist at the end!!

Hmmmm - maybe I've spento too much time watching horror movies, eh??

Oh yes, I love all those Edgar Alan Poe stories that have been turned into horror movies too! The Fall Of The House Of Usher, The Murders On The Rue Morgue, The Pit And The Pendulum .... great, creepy storytelling!

Thought the Candyman movies were great!!

What about Amytville  ..........Exorcist  , but to name a few Scary, Jumpy, movies 8O

For 'funny' horror you really can't beat the Freddy series (Freddy vs Jason was particularly hysetrical!)
On the other hand watching Event Horizion in the dark scared me stupid...

One of the very best and way too under-rated horror movies is The Wicker Man starring Christopher Lee and Edward Woodward. I can't recommend that one highly enough.

The Witchfinder General starring Vincent Price is another classic too.

Ah, yes you can. In the genre of funny horror, I trump your Freddie Vs. Jason with:

1, 2 and 3 The original is by far the best , but these versions are still worth a watch ....

Texas Chain Saw Massacre

R. 27 Aug 2004 21:07

Alien 8O
From Dusk Till Dawn :))

or play the game Doom 3, bad gameplay but very very scary and frightening.

Skeleton 27 Aug 2004 21:09

House on Haunted Hill is a good one, also 13 Ghosts.

For the best horror I'd say "Glitter" (starring Mariah Carey) or "The Bodyguard" (Whitney Houston also sings in that one). :)

The problem with horrormovies is that I mostly find them hilariously funny and not scary at all.

13 Ghosts was great, but the ending was way too cheesy!! I had such high hopes until the last 15 minutes!!

Ageing Bat 02 Sep 2004 18:13

I'll send you a home video of my daughter's bedroom, also known as the 'Pit of Doom'. It has all the hallmarks of being a best selling horror movie - furry things that crawl across plates under the bed, glasses with evil looking dried liquid in them, sharp objects disguised under innocent looking heaps of clothes........you get the picture.

Believe me, it's that scarey that even the dogs won't go in there. 8O

The Flying Mouse 02 Sep 2004 18:45

 I'm in the middle of watching The Omen trilogy again :D .Some gory deaths in that.Especially the doc who discovers Damien has the blood of a jackal in part II.Walking into a lift will never be the same 8O .
