Queen Of Darkness.

 Darkness lead singer Justin Hawkins is going to be singing with Queen for a charity concert to celerbrate the 30th anneversary of Queen's first UK hit single 8) .
Aparently Brian May is very impressed with Justin
A charity disc is also being planned.

Lot's more info in todays Sunday People newspaper.

It had to happen, and I'm glad that it will!

Rob The Badger 28 Mar 2004 21:19

This is phenominally horrendous news. . .Why won't Brian May go away!?
Deacon was the smart one. As was Mercury. . .

Chris 28 Mar 2004 21:55

Well I for one think that it is excellent news.

Daft comment but just lately Queen seems to remind me a bit of Black Sabbath. They keep coming back with different line ups and seriously rocking.

Admittedly, they will never come anywhere near the greatness that was the Mercury-led group but at least they are makinga go of it and still rocking!!

black dog 28 Mar 2004 22:21

I'm not sure about Justin as lead singer as I'm not that impressed with the Darkness but I think anything that involves Queen should be good. I have always rated all the group as they have all jointly or individually written their songs.

The Darkness are fantastic. But Justin with Queen? NAH.

Think we'll have to agree to disagree on that Rob

Why is it so inconcievable?

Bowie and Queen worked
Elton and Queen worked
Wyclef John and Queen worked

At least give him the chance before denouncing it!!

I have to agree with Black Dog, I don't see the big thing with the Darkness they give me a headache (I must be getting old only my Nan says that about musicians).

badger 29 Mar 2004 00:07

Patti and Queen worked ;)

Rob The Badger 29 Mar 2004 16:31

We shall have to see. If anything it'll be funny as hell.

In a very repulsive way I might add :)

The best Queen collaboration was, imo, Queen + George Micheal and/or Queen + Bowie.

Damn straight.

Don't know if anyone else on here was there, but Brian May was a guest guitarist at a Meat Loaf concert at Wembley back in the '90's. Trust me, it was awesome - Wembley really rocked that night! Unforgettable.

..... So maybe Queen should have the mighty Meat, rather than that Darkness chappie? ...... just a thought!

That sounds totally awesome.

My favourite singer and my favourite band, together

Caz 31 Mar 2004 00:10

Now that would be some gig ... Queen and Meat Loaf .. together :D

As for Justin singing with Queen, not too sure but I reckon it could be good

M.Bison 31 Mar 2004 19:37

The combination of Justin and Queen wouldn't do good as a duet if Justin used his style of singing (the high-picthed voice) unless they had Queen do a duet for some of the Darkness' songs. I'd say the setlist would be good if we had some Darkness songs dueted with Queen, and some Queen songs dueted with Justin (which is when the high voice shouldn't be used.) This is what I think, because I wouldn't like to hear someone sing "We Will Rock You" Justin Hawkins style.

Chris 31 Mar 2004 20:14

I have heard Justin sing normally without his high pitched squeals and think he is a very talented singer who would suit a duet with Queen very well!!!

Rob The Badger 31 Mar 2004 21:02

Yeah, without the falsetto, Hawkins can do a damn good job.

Caz 01 Apr 2004 11:53

Justin actually reminds me of someone from the late 70's early 80's music scene but for the life of me I can't think who it is
