I can dance.

Chris 06 Jan 2004 22:43

Why Ozzy?

Who else has made such a contribution to rocking?

IMHO, Ozzy is one of the few rock stars who does it for the love of it.

He still does Ozzfest every year, He doesn't need the money he could just quit but doesn't. We all saw the clips on the news a while back of Robbie Williams cheering at the massive record deal he was negotiating. Does that not imply that the money is more important to him than the music.

Also i feel ozzy ahs remained consistent. he hasn't tried to chase the musical trends like Bryan Adams with his more poppy collaborations with contemporary pop stars. Also he hasn't suddenly decided that because he is good, he can do any type of music and gone off on a mad one like Axl Rose with his, quite frankly, crap modern stuff!

Just my personal opinion but to be honest too many rock stars seem to think that thye can do whatever the hell they like because of their name. Ozzy, Meat and ther Rolling Stones are three examples who seem to know where they came from and why their fans love them. And I think that to have made the greatest contribution you ahve to be able to pick up their early albums and still think that they are great, can you do this with The Spice Girls, Take That or any other band? No, But you can with things like Bat, paranoid, Born to Run or A Night At The Opera.

Sorry if this post seems a little disjointed but I think you get the gist of what I mean!!!!!!

AndyK 06 Jan 2004 22:45

Well said Chris.... but Ozzy is a mere newcomer compared to The Stones... whereven the "new boy" Ronnie Wood has been in the band longer than Ozzy has been in the business :D

And oh boy does it show!!!!!! :lmao:

Thats is another thing that is good. He is a lot newer than some of the all-time greats, yet he can still be honestly ranked alongside them!!!

(Me speaking as a Die-Hard Black Sabbath fan!!)
