A Date with Destiny

According to the Jim board and following their link - you can hear an amazing (in my opinion) song that Meat seemed to have turned down recording after it was demoed for him. I can understand them not wanting it on Bat 2 but i would thought this song would have been amazing on CHSIB. Its called a date with destiny and if you go to
http://www.melodicrock.com/cd/
Its number 7 and you can hear a minute of it. Personally i would have loved Meat to release this song. The description given for it is:

"A killer ballad that features only Gregg's vocal and a piano. The song was originally written and demoed for Meatloaf, but never used"

I liked the tittle A LOT...like the actual song even better!
WOW, that is one beautiful song...shivers!

It would be GREAT to hear Meat sing this one! Did Jim Steinman write this?

Thank you for the link!

No someone called Gregg Fulkerson wrote it for Bat 2 but it was never used as Bat 2 was to be 100% Steinman material. In my opinion it has it all for a great Meat track, even its name sounds great. How it never made WTTN or CHSIB i'll never know????

DIZZY DRUMMER 26 Dec 2003 20:29

What a lovely song - why wasn't this used ?

I would like to listen to the whole song though :(
thanks for the link :D

ChrisBelfast 26 Dec 2003 20:30

Id love to hear the whole thing too but i think the only way is to buy the melodicrock CD. Ebay might have it cheaper
From its tone to its name it has it could pass as a Jim song in my opinion. The sample we hear tho could be the start or middle, i get the feeling there is a lot more to come from the whole song.

Thank you, Chris...I got to learn to read better! I didn't realise you could buy this...I will see if this creditcard of mine is still working!

I stopped my Meat cd for 1 min... Did I do that? :?
Okay, got to admit it BUT I'd rather listen to Meat's voice on it!

Thanx anyway ChrisNI! :D

Let's go for another load of Lawyers...

ChrisBelfast 26 Dec 2003 21:05

I wasnt the one who discovered it, came across it at Jims site. Yes, i would love to hear Meats voice on it....i hope someday we'll find out why it was never took up as a Meat track

angelj242003 26 Dec 2003 22:43

AngelJ

shadow1000001 26 Dec 2003 22:48

That is a great song. Meat's voice would be perfect for that :D Thanks for the link

Chris 26 Dec 2003 23:00

I like it!

mariella 26 Dec 2003 23:04

To me, but I was 100% sure Testify would be the next 'classic'...and see what happened with that...this song also seems very special.
We may never know why it was not recorded (could be so many reasons for that)...but it does have 'that special-feeling' of a 'could-be-classic' to me.
Like a Joe Cocker song...just 'better' once Meat would do the singing...REAL emotions, I gues...and I love JOE!

I like it too!
Thanks for the link.

krolok 27 Dec 2003 00:39

I like the song too ! Thanks for the link !

But it well be better if a special person (you know who i mean :) ) would sing it ! :)

ChrissybabezNI 28 Dec 2003 15:51

Cool :D Thanks Chris

Mrs Loaf 28 Dec 2003 17:00

That's a lovely song, just the ticket for Meat I would have thought. Love the piano on it. Thanks for the link. :)

ChrisBelfast 28 Dec 2003 21:53

Heard the original full version of the song and I have to say its sounds so much like something Meat would sing, and something that would be a hit. The full version is very fast paced and has background vocals very similar to a lot of the Bat stuff. I think it could be one of the greatest non-released songs ever, its such a sin that noone has released it.

The version on melodicrock rock is the lead singer recording it again in 2003

Id love to fireballs view on this one?

mariella 28 Dec 2003 22:03

Can we listen to the full version online, maybe?
I have been looking for this eversince I heard the 1 minute demo.
Love this song! Will also buy it.

Wow Meat you gotta sing this! This reminds me alot of both For Crying Out Loud and Heavan Can Wait, same piano-singing style.

Kathy 28 Dec 2003 22:52

I agree, if Meat did this song it would be beautiful!

That's a great piece, bottom line. 8)

rockfenris2005 31 Dec 2003 13:12

I love this song. How would I be able to sing it on MY album? They don't leave any contact addresses for this Gregg guy... anywayz. Meat was a fool for not singing it. A pretty damned fool ! and yes! I have the guts to say this (before Fireball screams at me)

mariella 07 Jan 2004 21:11

I finally also listened to the faster version, from '93, I believe. I must say I liked the slower version A LOT better. However great lyrics! Thank you!

GDTY,

Mariella
