Meat Loaf article and Photo in Sun Newspaper

Todays (Wed) Sun newspaper has an article and photo titled "Meat Loaf Flat out of Hell". For those who cannot get access to the sun newspaper, the same article is online at:
http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-2003532145,00.html

Thanks for posting that Chris. I don't know what is worse.....imagining what that moment was like or actually "seeing" it! :(

Meat was on my mind all day yesterday - I really hope he is taking all of our advice and taking the time to recuperate properly!

ChrisBelfast 19 Nov 2003 15:41

its scarier than Sues one, at least he was awake (if thats the correct word?) in that one

ChrisBelfast 19 Nov 2003 15:46

Just found another article online, its from the Mirror - another big newspaper here in the UK. For those of you without access to a copy of the mirror the link is:

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/allnews...l&siteid=50143

Pretty much the same material covered, no photo but the part that did stand out was

"ROCKER Meat Loaf has been ordered to stop touring after collapsing with exhaustion on stage."

For those non-UK members, the british press is little to go on.

bathelmet 19 Nov 2003 15:49

I have just read an article in the Glasgow evening newspaper, with a quote from Meta's record company confirming that the Glasgow concert WILL go ahead.

bathelmet 19 Nov 2003 15:49

I meant Meat's company, not Meta's!

Kev 19 Nov 2003 15:50

You know what is even more sad... have hard would it be for them to add 1 extra line at the bottom saying 'Meat Loaf also has a new single out on Monday'? I know people would probably claim it's all a publicity stunt, but it wouldnt harm sales :(

ChrisBelfast 19 Nov 2003 15:54

i'd thought that too - its a shame Meats got so much publicity on TV and Radio this week regards his ill health when next week i can imagine the single not being promoted at all. Have to say tho its been added to local radio stations playlists!!!

ok im new herebut this is on the whats on wembley website

Meat Loaf admitted to hospital

Multi-platinum superstar performer Meat Loaf collapsed from exhaustion due to a prolonged viral infection at a sold-out concert last night at London's Wembley Arena. Meat Loaf tried to return to perform another song but on the advice of doctors who were present, was taken to the nearest hospital, Northwick Park Hospital in Harrow, where he was admitted.

Under doctor's orders, Meat Loaf's second sold-out Wembley Arena concert, scheduled for tonight, Tuesday 18th November, has been cancelled. There is no word yet regarding the rescheduling of the show.

Greg Castell, Joint Managing Director of Mercury Records (Meat Loaf's UK Record Label), said, "Meat Loaf is a total star and a fantastic competitor but sometimes when your body and your doctor tell you to rest you have to just stop."

Meat Loaf will be re-evaluated by doctor today and further information about his status will be made available.

The trouble with these types of articles is that they simply are not true!
I was there and Line by line this is what was wrong with this article!

THIS is the horrifying moment stricken rocker Meat Loaf collapsed on stage in front of 11,000 screaming fans.
> Screaming, not quite: listening yes, singing yes, cheering at the perfomance yes but at least from where I was sitting there was no screaming, certainly not in the way they mean!

The 18st singer clasped a hand to his head and fell to the ground, then lay motionless as his backing singers carried on with their act.
> yep but was at the end of the song and was probally down 5-10 seconds before end of song and the backing singers simply finished the line and rushed to him!

Seconds later the lights at London’s Wembley Arena were dimmed and worried roadies helped the star off stage.
> Lights were dimmed and some spotlights placed on other members of band until he was helped up and briefly off stage.

Bat Out Of Hell star Meat re-appeared five minutes later to sing in a chair. But he broke off after just one verse.
> Not true he performed a entire song with a mike stand (though not leaning more like someone who is dizzy and might need it for balance before leaving that on the side of the stage and continuing without) after that song he began 'it must have been love' he looked to me to be leaning forward next to piano and could posibly been on a stool.

The 57-year-old US star was yesterday treated in hospital for exhaustion brought on by a virus.

> Well guess that bit is true!

Gez 19 Nov 2003 17:21

I gave the SECC at call today and they said that the concert is still on :D

Obviously the American press sucks, because the Yahoo article yesterday is all that I've seen from an American source. A lot of radio programs have mentioned Meat and sent well wishes (usually in the form of playing AFL), but nary a word on the TV or newspaper. I sat through every vapid second of "Entertainment Tonight" last night and they didn't say a thing. Grrrrr.....

FoxNews was on it like butter on a baked potato last night! It was part of the scroll at the bottom of the screen and even got a mention during one of the headline updates, but then again Fox seems to like Meat Loaf.

ROCK ON FOX NEWS!!!

Cathie 19 Nov 2003 22:16

Thanks to everyone for posting these links. Fingers crossed that Meat gets better soon.
