I'd like for someone to clean up the original tapes and then mix them back together. Today's technology must present an opportunity for it to sound far better than it currently does. Then bundle it with a live CD from the Bat 1 tour.

What I expect is Sony will put out another cheap effort with a sparkly cover and Hits Out Of Hell DVD.

I'd still like Meat's original vocals with more up to date music...there is always still something tinny about 70s recordings even when they are done up and remastered.

That'd be pretty sweet. Personally I'd go for Meat's vocal track, new female vocalists and updated music ;)

Great idea - get the current band to recreate the music with modern recording techniques. Yes!

It's something I've harped on about for years now. The album cannot really be bettered as it is, but listening to the live arrangements of the last twenty years just make the musical limitations of the time apparent. Something else that kind of sealed it was when Springsteen rerecorded Darkness on the Edge of Town for its boxed set...I don't think Meat's voice could stand up to recreating Bat in that way but using his original vocals would.

If not that, i would also take an extra disc of either what Bat would have sounded like if Todd hadn't reigned Jim in at least a little - like the longer Revved Up, or the songs in their original forms from Jim's early theater work. (I am fully aware that neither of these is going to happen, which is why i would go for the rerecording of the music ;))

My suggestion.....don't change anything. You can't better Bat out of Hell the original. Just have a bit of promo and it will be in the top 10 again.

Wasn't Paradise heavily edited ? I'd like to hear the full version!

I think a taste of it is on the 1977 tour with the extended intro. and Im pretty sure the argument with the color TV was all Jim.

true, but even the latest recordings can sound flat tinny and lifeless

Early signs suggest it might be worth waiting for

It'sd goung to be a huge year for Bat - you have the musical and their soundtrack(s) as well.

I wonder if the two will be connected?

Could flop or be a we will rock you success, lets hope the latter.
But musicals are risky, and you can never be too sure what way it will be received. But the albums will be flooding the market this year, bat 40th, soundtrack, and possibly a new greatest hits package.

What's the news on the greatest hits album? Is it going to be a album recognised by Meat or a shoddy hits collection put together by the record company?

To say nothing of Tanz der Vampire's ongoing explosion across Europe as it celebrates its 20th anniversary, taking in the Czech Republic, Switzerland, and (for the third time) Vienna.
