I still have those lyrics in a similar structure to that too, only minor adaptations and they are part of an actual song now - yet I guess unrecorded with no scripted sheet music rarely classes as an "actual song". :roll:

Still, Anne's lyrics are better I think. :D

p.s. I know I've dug it up again, I was looking for one of R's posts and stumbled across a thread started by an "Anne", checking it I found it was the one I knew :) ).

Not sure of the origin of it.

There are several versions floating around in the ether on the google archives, most of which go back to the same sort of time period. It appears to be one of those emails that gets sent round everyone with no discernable start point that sort of merges into the web's background.

Most of the versions tend to be slightly edited:

"if i go to heaven and you're not there
I'll sit and wait upon the golden stairs"

"if I go to heaven before you do
I'll sit and wait for you"

"If i go to heaven and you're not there
I'll paint your face on the golden stars."

I doubt anyone will ever trrace it's provenance - too many versions floating around and people claiming credit for it.
