Nirvana, Kiss and Cat Stevens to be inducted into the RnRHOF for 2014
 

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has officially announced next year's inductees and they include Nirvana, Kiss, Peter Gabriel and Cat Stevens.

Unless you have a very large suitcase of untracables and hand it over to one of the key players in a record company or the committee, you have no chance :roll: But given it's all abut buying now, I'm not at all sure Meat would even want it. He should have been inducted when he was first eligible and when it still resembled a Rock and Roll HoF .. But by then it had become all about money and connections, and I doubt he'd value it that much .. and certainly not as highly as he does his induction into the Film HoF :-)

It's such a shame that the RnRHOF has ignored Meat and his contribution to the music industry for so long, particularly as there are other artists inducted who have contributed much less. Unfortunately I think we have more chance of seeing hell freezing over than we do seeing Meat inducted into the RnRHOF.

I imagine scenes such as this:

Music Exec 1: "What shall we do for next Christmas?"

Music Exec 2: "How about some more One Direction?"

Exec 1: "Great! What else?"

Exec 2: "Gary Barlow? The public loves Gary Barlow?"

Underling in the corner: "What about Meat Loaf? We've got piles of his songs. Couldn't we do something with those?"

Exec 1: "Ha! Who the ~~~~ wants Meat Loaf?! Nobody listens to that sort of crap!"

Knock Knock

Exec 2: "Come in."

Meat Loaf enters the room...

Exec 1: "Of course Mr Aday. We'd love to promote your next album. We'll sort you out a fantastic TV campaign, double page advertising spreads in every paper and glossy magazine and a 2 hour TV promo concert. Just leave it with me.

Meat Loaf leaves the room...

Underling: "Boss, shall I phone marketing about Meat Loaf's campaign?"

Exec 1: "~~~~ no! It's only Meat Loaf. Who the ~~~~ wants to listen to Meat Loaf?!"

Exec 2: "Now where were we? I know! How about Gary Barlow and One Direction together?"

I tend to agree. I do think they have cheapened it with adding rappers and musicians who did not play actual rock and roll. Meat along with Jim deserve to be in there, but it is not much about actually deserving it at least not now. I'm sure Meat thinks it would be nice but I doubt he's much worried about the politics of it. He's got his legacy as a legitimate rock legend intact. That really is self evident to anyone who knows anything about rock and roll.

Until Meat and Jim are inducted, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is just another building in Cleveland, OH.
