Hear hear - I was there for Hurricane Katrina last year so I know what they're going through.

All the very best to all.

I was actually thinking of flying out to New York for the Beacon Theater show but I wasn't allowed the time off from work so in a way, I'm glad that I wasn't allowed to go since I just know how scared I'd have been in a strange country where I don't know anyone.

I've been reading about this online and my thoughts and prayers are with everyone in the affected areas.

Monstro 30 Oct 2012 02:13

Some of the pics going online look bad, lots of people without power, doesn't look good.

The Flying Mouse 30 Oct 2012 02:25

 Hope nobody gets hit too bad, and that everyone stays safe and well.

Good luck to all

My Mom and I haven't been able to go over and check the store today .... but our State Senator told us everything was fine when she went past earlier this afternoon. They're expecting minor flooding in the area when high tide hits later tonight, so hopefully it will be ok tomorrow.

After seeing the pictures and videos of New York tonight, I'm extremely worried about Meat, the band, crew, Katrina, and Kathy who are traveling back from Canada to New York :(

Thinking of you all there's some scary looking pictures out there! Really us Brits are very lucky with our weather

anotherday 30 Oct 2012 14:20

Did anyone see the photo of Ground Zero flooding? :(

CarylB 30 Oct 2012 14:22

The people of the USA have a proven track record of facing terrible adversity with courage and determination. I feel great sorrow for those who have lost their lives and their families, and faith in the people in the cities devastated by this storm. They will set about the task of recovery with strength and purpose. Hope all keep safe and strong, and that all those undertaking journeys manage them safely.

It is a mess here...I am right across the river from Marshall University in Huntington WV. If you google map it, you can see we are no where near the coast, but the hurricane brought us a full on blizzard. Snow is starting to stick to the ground and schools are cancelled/trick or treat has been delayed. My prayers go out to all affected by this storm. Stay safe, be warm and dry, and follow all safety precautions.

The morning after ... xo

I live in Philadelphia, PA, USA and the basement of our hut dampened a bit ... and the bottom of a plexiglass bedroom window came away but was sorted... alot of leaves and twigs on the ground... and some trash cans knocked over... We live in a neighborhood of small streets and rowhouses and not near water ... so I always consider us lucky with the weather as well ... Watching the news, though, is aching the heart ... but as Caryl said... we will survive !!! ... Thanks for your concerns for my peeps !!! ... :D ... xo

thats the subways downtown, which were mostly above ground lobbies. the pictures make it look far worse then it actually is.

AndrewG 30 Oct 2012 16:18

It looks pretty bad to me. 17 dead. Doubt that's just a photo effect. Doubt there will be any concerts in that region for a while. Wall Street probably closed for several days and wouldn't surprise me if the whole election is postponed by a week or so.

Chris I know you're trying to be optimistic, but people standing up to their knees in running water, millions without electricity. a mercifully low but nonetheless distressing death toll, businesses closed, the NYSE closed for two days for the first time in over 100 years, a state of emergency declared .. this is pretty bad, it's bigger than the next show, it's a devastating blow to millions of people and your economy, and most of us are not simply relying on a few photos but reading/listening to/watching the news and seeing live footage
