Meat Loaf duet with imelda may

he mentions hes recorded a traditional irish christmas song with imelda on his upcoming HOT CHRISTMAS album in classic rock, i cannot wait to hear it, such a good pair up

chairboys 20 Jan 2012 20:56

I strongly believe it will be the xmas number one.

I totally agree. Imelda May was the best supporting artist I've ever seen and less than two months after I saw her supporting Meat, I actually went to one of her concerts and enjoyed it thoroughly.

I was quite excited when I read about her and Meat doing a song together.

Imelda is awesome but personally I doubt it will be Xmas number one. For starters there's no announcement that it will be a single. I'd be surprised if Meat actually released a single off the album, he'd probably be better off just promoting the album itself.

It's possible that it could chart really high in Christmas Albums category, depending on who else is releasing one. If he did it on a year when Mariah Carey or someone like that releases one that there's no chance of it hitting number one.

Not necessarily because it would be different! It's not likely to be your usual Christmas record like Mariah releases!!! And I for one would like to hear something different at Christmas! Not the same old crap!

Meat would beat mariah in a chart battle in the uk, maybe not the USA? I would say a take that, robbie Williams , rhianna Xmas album would be too much of a challenge!! Sales are always huge at xmas

Imelda was fabulous...I think sometimes, which was unfortunate, her performances didn't quite translate in the UK arenas as her Irish accent is so strong that it was difficult to understand the lyrics, which was a shame as they're a big feature of her songs. She was great - fantastic sense of humour, really gave the audience some banter - but the performance sometimes just didn't work for me.

Anyway, we came back from tour and downloaded the album versions of the songs she'd done and they are fantastic, absolutely brilliant. Perhaps live they work better in the smaller venues and we just lost in the arenas, but if anyone wasn't that keen on the live stuff (and I know there were a few), give the recorded stuff a go

i must confess, i hadn't heard of her before reading about the traditional song, and again this thread

Thanks for the advice. I saw her show and didn't care for her voice at all, but I'll take a listen.

I'm not really interested in Imelda, but I was excited about Garth and Reba. Wonder if that has changed? Also excited about holiday duets with Patti. I remember Meat and Patti sang some awesome holiday duets at a children's benefit years ago.

I really enjoyed Imelda's show supporting Meat in Cardiff, so much so,I went out and bought her album.

hell_basket 29 Jan 2012 18:53

is the song 'back door santa' that Meat mentions in classic rock a cover of this?

I just saw a video of Imelda's and her voice and style of music are not my taste. If there are duets with Garth and with Patti, I'll be so thrilled.

chairboys 02 Feb 2012 20:05

Imelda gets a lot of play on Radio2, especially Chris Evans. He loves hers.

ShelbyLee 02 Feb 2012 21:22

I didn't know who Imelda was so I listened to some of her music, but I just don't like it. I agree that Garth and Patti would be amazing on the album. I love the title "Hot Holidays".
