RIP Sir Jimmy Savile
Jim'll Fix I was a classic show and his charity work is legendary, R.I.P.
|
They say he raised around £40M for charity over the years. If he did nothing else, that on it's own is incredible.

RIP

I still have my letter I wrote to him to "Fix It" for me to have two booked I wrote by I was 7 and 8 published. Legend.
|
"All he did was turn up and run" ... yet that raised £40m+. Legend.
RIP |
Met him a few times when I worked at LGI. An eccentric figure no doubt, but a good heart and a great philanthropist.

The 40m is a very low estimate BTW in an interview late 90's when they asked his accountant how much Jimmy had raised for charity his accountant replied he did not know because they stopped recording it at 40 million. Jimmy replied not enough. Some people raise money for charity just for the publicity others like Jimmy & Meat do so because they feel passionate about what they do. The world needs more people like Jimmy. |
sad news, RIP
|
The word Legend gets used far too much for people nowadays, for example Amy Whinehouse was never a Legend.
Sir Jimmy Savile was a genuine Legend if ever there was one. Everyone loved Jimmy who did so much in a magnificent career. Didn't he start Top Of The Pops? Anyway I remember him presenting it. He did radio, TV, everything you can think of, and he did it with style and big fat cigars! A true Legend, R.I.P. |
