This almost made me dance, LOL. At some point I was afraid that Meat's voice would shatter the wine glass that was standing next to one of the speakers.

PanicLord 23 Oct 2011 00:03

Wow indeed, what a great find!

allrevvedup 23 Oct 2011 00:19

nice

Monstro 23 Oct 2011 01:44

Great find!!!!

Will say this though, Jim can write songs like no other, can play piano like the devil incarnate but by god he can't sing.

I agree, he does song pretty well, in fact by comparison with a lot of modern pop stars, very well. Dance In My Pants is a very good vocal imho.

However,I do think that his voice doesn't do his stunning compositions justice - unlike Meat's!

im not the only who thought that lmao...

Is this song homoerotic? Jim is singing about wanting a guy. and for the early 1970s that's pretty dangerous ground to tread.

AndrewG 24 Oct 2011 02:24

Wow, this is really cool and wickedly fun. Almost 40 years later it's still great really.

Yep. Sums it up for me. As well as, someone's post about Meat can sure sing. This seemed effortless for him.

nocturnalpleasure and dreampollution have put a ton of great demos on their channels lately. Have you heard the Rory Dodd demo of "Making Love Out Of Nothing At All"? Stunning! With another verse too.

Comment from Karla Devito:

So passionately beautiful -- dear god in heaven...

never heard this unplugged version before!!!!!!! Rory pulls it off like no other, and NOBODY plays Jim Steinman like JIM STEINMAN!!!!!!!! Where can we buy the mp3?

should this get the WOH rating treatment? :))

White of High 10 Jun 2012 22:31

There was another thread for B-sides. So I'll see what can I do...

The Flying Mouse 11 Jun 2012 20:27

 This thread has slipped under my radar first time around, i'm glad it's come back up

Interesting song, i'm guessing from their very early (even pre Bat) days.

RSG 11 Jun 2012 21:44

Ain't this for a musical or intended as?

from the clip info posted by the host of the clip

Barry Keating, Meat Loaf, and Jim Steinman perform Steinman's "Give Me the Simple Life (The Spooky Song)" on a demo recording from the musical "More Than You Deserve."

Thanks for sharing, I don't get to see info on vids thru m
y mobile. Dodd's contribution to Steinman catalogue are amazing.
