The best live version? Discuss!

Doode

Evil One 28 Feb 2011 19:49

It's far better than the officially released version from the Live In The Neighbourhood show. I'm guessing that one day this will also be available as it's from the Hard Rock show in 1999. That said, Meat did some far better performances on the Born To Rock tour that were about 10 minutes long.

TheDoode 28 Feb 2011 19:57

Awesome, and yeah agreed - he sounds like he's having some problems on the Neighbourhood footage. When was the Born to Rock tour? And when exactly was the above video shot? I'm going for around CHSIB era, but I guess it could be earlier.

hard rock was 99

TheDoode 28 Feb 2011 20:01

Oh yeah, I should really, y'know, probably read all the words in the future.

Evil One 28 Feb 2011 20:06

The above video was from the pre Very Best Of tour promo show at the Hard Rock Cafe in New York. Some of the songs were used on the Storytellers CD. The Live In The Neighbourhood show was in 1995 at the Beacon Theater in New York, the Born To Rock tour was 1996.

Sorry for the confusion, I already corrected it. It was just a typo, had typed too fast. End credits of the VH1 broadcast say 1999, as far as I remember.

Evil One 28 Feb 2011 20:14

2nd June 1999 according to Kasiminfo.com

TheDoode 28 Feb 2011 20:15

Something that strikes me is the difference between the 93/94 stuff and the Neighbourhood stuff. Big vocal difference. Can't help wondering if it was a symptom of too many dates on that tour?

Evil One 28 Feb 2011 20:23

It depends what shows you're comparing. There are periods during both tours that Meat sounds brilliant, and periods where he doesn't.

Kinda like now :)

Personally, even if it was not 100% Live, it still is my favorite:

If they'd done the whole song like that then I'd agree, but I can't possibly label it as the 'the best live version' when part of the song is missing. :weirdo:

well I can.

Its either this or Comic Relief. both are pretty damn good.

TheDoode 01 Mar 2011 01:10

that was a damn good version. never heard the comic relief one man - when was it recorded?

...this version is ~~~~ing epic. I was tearing up when i watched it the first time, and i dont usually tear up unless i get punched in the eye. But the emotion he puts into the song is overwhelming, much like some live renditions of PoE

Thats the point. More emotion is in it. regardless if its the full song, its the best performed IMHO
