Did we all overlook this Dead Ringer relrease?

Apperently Dead Ringer was re-released on March 1st, 2008:

http://www.amazon.com/Dead-Ringer-Me...6&sr=1-1-spell

Does anyone have the re-release CD? does it sound better?

I dont ever remember seeing anything about this, nore the rerelease of BBIS on June 9th, 2009 on this forum:

Lol, such ridiculous comments on that page:

Quote:

This album was terrible. No stand out songs or hits, just pathetic compared to BOH.
Then someone says:
Quote:

Actually, Dead Ringer for Love was a huge hit in Ireland, the U.K., and Sweden.
Then the original guy replies.
Quote:

yeah so is cancer or aids...doesn't make it anygood.
Couldn't disagree more with this nasty greaseball. If this guy was living on the South pole I'd want to be on the north pole!

Probably just the same as ever. This album was never remastered. An Amazon sale doesn't make it so.

Never heard of a re-release.

As to the comments.....People are idiots. I LOVE dead Ringer. I love it more then the original Bat:D

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but just to say it's terrible without giving any reason coming from someone who likes Bat and then claim it didn't span hits is completely ignorant in my opinion. Mentioning the diseases is just a ridiculous cheap shot at shock humour in this case if you ask me.

I think evil nickname mentioned the re-release of BBIS.

Lol, the irony of that considering who started this thread is just completely ridiculous. :lmao:

RadioMaster 07 Jan 2011 21:14

i remember the DR rerelease being discussed on here before it came out, never seen a word of anyone owning it though...

nasty comments aside, is you look at it objectively DR is kinda trying to copy the BOOH sceme, gotta agree with that.

I did. It's mentioned in this thread. As that version didn't include any bonus tracks I didn't bother getting a copy, so I can't comment on the sound quality.

Also, I think I read somewhere that, like with Bad Attitude, the US got a different mix of BBIS. Can anyone confirm or deny that?

Not that I know of. I previewed the UK itunes BBIS and compaired the previews to my US copy, they are the same.

The covers though are different.

I prefer the UK cover

Gotta agree. The US cover looks like the cover from a boring compilation CD. However even the UK cover isn't that interesting. I prefer artwork rather than seeing Meat's face, though I'm sure the girls will disagree on that.

AndyK 09 Jan 2011 20:16

My UK and US (and the Russian and Greek releases as well come to think of it) copies sound identical from what I can remember, not played the two back to back for a long time so can't be 100% sure though.

meh artwork I dont think woud've suited BBIS. It doesnt sound like the type of album that would have epic artowrk on the cover.

Bad attitude shouldve had artwork though

That statement makes no sense considering almost all other Meat Loaf albums have had proper artwork. Surely the 40s/50s pulp style artwork from WTTN would have suited the PI-style/murder/bad guy stuff of songs much better rather than a stupid photo and a beige background?!

Maybe, if the artwork is done correctly.

youre right about WTTN's Pulp artwork. That helped that album because the songs have a Film Noir feel.

BBIS has a very strong 80's feel, dunno how that would translate into artwork to be honest

AndrewG 09 Jan 2011 21:33

Off topic I know but something like this would have been the perfect cover for BBIS in my opinion. What has the sound/era of the music got to do with the cover, surely it's always about the lyrics and themes of songs?

In that case, wouldn't a drawing of a bloke ~~~~ing himself off be more apt?

Some years ago I read a comment on a forum regarding how the artwork indicates the quality of the album. It said something like this:

"If it has a complex painting on the cover = must-have,
if the artwork looks like it was taken from a comic book = not a must-have but good anyway,
if there is a photo of Meat Loaf on the cover = avoid!"

:))

(Personally, I like the WTTN / CHSIB artwork best.)

to refer to an earlier topic of discussion, the UK and US versions of BBIS do actually differ, albeit very slightly indeed. On the US version, the title song has an extra refrain of "This boy Mama just wanna rock!" in the final chorus (á la the live version on Meat Loaf Live) which is strangely edited out of the UK CD release. Reminds me a bit of the Queen song 'Under Pressure' which was similarly different on various format (This is our last dance repeated).

edit: lol @ similarly different, but you know what I mean :p

Does One More Kiss also fade Out? I know on the rock n roll hero compilation it does. and that compilation uses the UK mixes of BA

In all honesty I prefer the compilation edits that make Execution Day, RRM, BBIS and One More Kiss their own songs instead of those stupid transitions
