Very cool. He makes a good wolf. :D I hope that show encouraged parents to read books to their kids.

Wario 26 Sep 2010 02:56

Ummm he was very into it. but ranked against the Brixton Academy BOOH its crap.

Sarge 26 Sep 2010 03:00

Since when are you that serious? It's fun. I can't believe that someone uses the word "crap" in connection with that appearance.

Actually I found myself on the edge of my seat during that story about the lamb.

though he sounded like he had a sore throat

Sarge 26 Sep 2010 03:06

I believe your brain is too much occupied with recordings of Meat Loaf concerts. ;)

The words crap and shit seem to be used way too much on this forum with regards to Meat recordings etc lately.

As for this show we obviously watched it because of Meat's episode, having a couple of kids and wanting them to get into stories and reading we recorded the lot (gotta luv sky+), in all honesty the only one we kept was this episode, the kids loved it and we had to buy the book. Meat really did this well and stood out from the other "stars" that read.

AndrewG 26 Sep 2010 03:35

When the hell was this recorded? This is mental. Lol :))

Those daughters of his should give him some grandkids soon for him to read stories to. He's great at doing this!

Thanks for posting!

What a great show for kids. And they give away 1000 books to children per episode. I'm impressed.

Wario 26 Sep 2010 03:55

Unfortunately they got some pretty rubbish people to read the other shows, despite being big famous names they were boring and my kids soon got fed up. Our kids love books and having stories read so i was looking forward to this show but the kids got bored before the show even finished on the other ones,so we deleted those off, but they still love watching Meat's one (and that was back before they even knew who he was lol)
After seeing the other ones it's pretty obvious why they kicked the series off with his one, it was all downhill after that, i havent seen it on for ages now so i think maybe it died a death. It's a shame because it seems too many parents don't bother reading to their kids anymore :(

I bought the Bookaboo DVD as it was going really cheap in the toyshop where I work and I do like Meat's performance in this. His enthusiastic performance is perfect for keeping kids amused.

A couple of people I know have said that they made the wrong choice with picking celebrities they did as a lot of kids probably haven't heard of people like Meat, Al Murray and Robson Green but if the celebrities chosen can do a good job of reading the stories and entertaining children I don't think it matters if the kids have never heard of them or not.

Evil One 26 Sep 2010 12:47

Definitely better than most of the other celebrities on this programme.

That's the hole in the concept really, the kids weren't meant to recognise the celebrities, it was supposed to encourage the parents to read to their kids supposedly by associating it with these big names doing it. I love alot of those celebrities that did it but many were boring even for me and they certainly couldnt keep the attention of my kids, only other stand outs were Al Murray and David Seaman for me, shame about the quality of the books they were reading, one was about farting :?

It's grandfather Loaf. From looking at him in this he'd make a good Santa Claus too.

The one from LATW with Jim on piano is even better and would be my serious answer for Meat's greatest ever performance.

That looks remarkably similar to the Bat 2 picture show. Is this definitely from 1994 I wonder? Great performance.

He's close. its from the History of Meat Loaf Live in orlando, FL in 1993.

This performance sadly isn't on the bat 2 picture show. only AFL, Paradise, and Lemon survived the cutting room floor while RRD from that show got a b side to the object virgin single.

Julie in the rv mirror 26 Sep 2010 22:29

Getting back to the Bookaboo show, that was really cute, and very well done! :D

That looks like a show I wouldn't have minded my son having on, unlike Barney or the Teletubbies, which I just can't stand. Good thing he was too old for them when they came on in the US.

That Objects performance is just amazing, as well.
