Is this it?

Is Meat really calling it a day after this tour? I know that there is talk of another album but after reading some of Meats posts on here, he seems a bit unhappy about the reaction the latest album has got and I get the impression this might be the last tour? I really hope not as I personally think this is the best thing he has done since Bat 2 and Im hoping that we maybe get a follow up to HCTB?
I can understand that as the years go by he may not feel up to doing long world tours but surely he won't stop doing something he loves and we'll still get to enjoy the odd few shows?
So what does the future hold? a new album? a greatest hits album? a box set? how about an acoustic tour of smaller venues?

AndrewG 26 Aug 2010 16:50

I hope Meat wants to continue for as long as he is able to make music, to sing, to tour (even if it needs to be on a smaller scale eventually) and to entertain. As long as he has the drive I'm sure people will flock to see him.

Ultimately I hope in this instance he will forget the negatives and listen to himself and feed of one of the greatest quotes in music history: "Never, ever, ever stop rockin'!" :-)

Sarge 26 Aug 2010 17:05

Maybe a few years from now, he'll have grown a full beard, wear an Indiana Jones hat and sing old John Lee Hooker songs at cosy pubs. ;)

there are fans of ML who like and dislike each of the albums in his discography. people will be negative. it comes with the territory. i like that ML comes to these boards, it's a luxary not many fans of other artists have. let's live fer this moment. let's just remain in the present with what we have. continue to discuss the album that is Hang Cool Teddy Bear. which is a brilliant title by the way. to me :) and even though the concept thing fries my brain, i just go back to the music. that's what its about for me. future ML music, bring it. but i feel its important we embrace what we have... BOOH thru HCTB. discuss what we have cause of this man and his talent team over the years.

rabblerouser 26 Aug 2010 17:31

Well said. I KNOW I will continue to enjoy ML as long as he is making music and hope I will long after as well

mediameat 26 Aug 2010 18:25

I thought you were leaving Sarge??

Sarge 26 Aug 2010 18:30

There were two or three things that made me decide to come back.

Evil One 26 Aug 2010 19:12

Wario's backpack was two of them.

Sarge 26 Aug 2010 19:15

:lmao: Yes, blame it on Wario!

youngJB 26 Aug 2010 19:24

I think Meat should put a "Beatles Anthology" style compilation out, with alternate takes, demos, some unreleased stuff, and two or three new songs with Jim, such as what the Beatles did with "Free As A Bird" and "Real Love." That would be amazing. Just imagine finally hearing some of the demos for Bat Out Of Hell, and possibly some early versions of "Rock And Roll Dreams" and "Out Of The Frying Pan." It's a long shot, but it'd be epic.

Evil One 26 Aug 2010 19:34

Only if the unreleased stuff was any good. If it was :shit: then I'd rather he didn't bother. The only album that really needs a good remastering is Dead Ringer, the rest sound good enough the way they are. If the plan is to release an old concert on DVD every year, then provided they are better quality than the Rockpalast one, I am happy with that. I would guess that demos of Bat 1 songs would sound similar to the very early live arrangements.

Wario 26 Aug 2010 22:08

Never say never. meat may say its his last but you just need to take it with a pinch of salt (Last World Tour 2003 ahoy?)

im sure, like previously said, well get a greatest hits tour again or something...

Pudding 26 Aug 2010 22:10

Meat said he'll call it quits when the fat lady sings, so I'm guessing after Susan Boyle's next album :))

Absolutely agree although I'm sure there must be plenty of fascinating stuff available.

Amen to that, let's hope that happens! Enough with the hissing already!

Mmm yes, maybe, but the problem with Free As A Bird is it doesn't really sound like a Beatles song to me, more a Travelling Wilburys song, who are also awesome, but that's not the point. If this happens, they should get Meat, Todd, and Jim in a studio and really do something faithful. Hearing demos and alternate takes would be very interesting though.

Depends how you class fascinating. I was fascinated to hear Steinman's Rhinegold musical, when I finally did I thought it was a giant pile of shite and I wished I hadn't bothered. If Meat has some unreleased stuff done with Steinman that sound like nonsense from most of Steinman's early musicals, then forget it.
