Popstar To Operastar may be back

According to here: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/news/...econd-run.html
No mention of Meat though.

It will be unwatchable if Meat isn't on it. It was barely watchable when he WAS on it!!

If it's on at the same time as this year, he couldn't be on it, as he is supposed to be touring over here then, and I know what is more important!!!!!!

He said at the time it was part of an overall promotion package; he was able to undertake playbacks and interviews during the days between the shows. My guess is the fixed ones will be the presenters and the opera singers from the first series. I'd miss Meat's input, but would watch it anyway as it was the first of that kind of "stars trying to ..." show I really enjoyed .. but then I like opera music. It's the bits in between that stop me going to the opera per se :) The music and arias I love.

Meat was the only good thing about that show. The rest of it was pure shite. It needs a better host, a better studio and better direction. It all felt far too rushed last time.

Absolutely agree on all points.

Loved Meat's Bat performance. Thought he was fantastic on there and it was great seeing a fab audience reception.

You trumpet "The rest of it was pure shite" as if it were fact. Your view perhaps, but not everyone's. I didn't rate the presenters either, but like Meat I thoroughly enjoyed watching the singers work at developing a different singing skill, and thought some performances were exceptional. Personally I found nothing wrong about the studio. The judging was rather rushed, which was a shame, but I enjoyed the arias, and the efforts of the singers very much.

I loved Meat's comments, loved his performance. But will still enjoy another series if the performers are selected wisely and have the skills and determination to learn.

What bits? The intervals? Operas are ALL music. It's musical plays you're thinking of there ;-)

Can't imagine for one minute that Meat would be involved in another series of this, I very much doubt he'll move to the UK for however many weeks just to appear on this for an hour a week with nothing else to promote.

I hate to say it (here comes another Lucy Lead Balloon) but I'm not sure that Meat would be in the show's selected line up again anyway. One of the things that drove me crazy with that show was that the whole set up just seemed thrown together. Catherine Jenkins and the other fabulous curly-haired guy whose name's run away from me are obviously a must, but with Meat, Laurence and Alan Titchmarsh there just seemed to be quite weak reasons as to why they were there...it seemed a bit "Titchmarsh once attended an opera so we'll have him!"

I also don't think Meat was that well-received by the general public and press. Personally I thought he was great but we all "get" Meat and understand where he's coming from when he goes crazy, but I think Joe Bloggs watching it massively misunderstood him and I'm not sure the show's producers would go there again.

Never watched the first series, there's a less than zero chance of me watching the second. :shit:

Sorry .. put that badly. I meant the recitative, which although it's set to music (mea culpa) just doesn't grab me over some hours.

@ Lucy. I agree Meat would be unlikely to appear again (as I said above). He was knowledgable, had prepared thoroughly, and was able to give useful and focused feedback to the performers, but the producers wanted him to play "Meat Loaf", which was a shame. They got what they wanted because Meat's a professional, but he was more than able to be an asset to the judging panel imo.
