Danny Miranda

What does everyone think of the new bass player? I really like the way he paces the stage and he's great on bass.

I absolutely agree Smithie :))
And he's a really nice guy too ... I enjoyed talking to him after the show
at the Mohegan Sun Arena.

Wario 22 Jul 2010 16:04

hes better then kasim and god combined. the best thing the NLE has gotten since Patty.

Smithie 22 Jul 2010 16:06

In total agreement, Vicki and Wario.

With all due respect to Kasim, when he was musical director for so many years, it seemed the music had one vision and never really got to evolve. Now each band member contributes something new on their instruments and Patti is singing some of the harmonies that Kasim used to, which sounds amazing. It's a great new direction for the NLE. (And best of luck to Kasim because he's a talented guy.) What do you guys think?

I absolutely agree. I mean no disrespect to Kasim either, but sometimes
change is a good thing :-)

AndyK 22 Jul 2010 16:22

The NLE has always evolved over the years, Sometimes it's worked and sometimes it hasn't (personally I though Pat Thrall was a poor replacement for Bob Kulick and I likewise though Damon was a poor replacement for Pat) . I've not seen Justin and Danny live on stage yet, but from what I've heard from the clips I've seen, and also from hat I've heard when I've seen Danny playing live with Queen, they are both more than adequate replacements for Mark and Kasim.

Couch Potato 23 Jul 2010 02:47

What I like about Danny, as perviosuly said, He plays his bass like its part of his body, and like an instrument, and not just a bass. Kasim can play bass, but I dont think he adds charactr to it
Thats just my opinion and im a nobody

You're not a nobody
I understand exactly what you mean :))

Couch Potato 23 Jul 2010 02:57

Thanks vicky :)...well, somday id love to be a somebody, but im just a drummer bumming for rubbish work and rubbish paid work while the big time awaits...

I hope it come soon

Wario 23 Jul 2010 03:44

Im gonna get shot for this: I never liked kasim to be honest. Very egocentric individual at points (especially on his website). their I said it.

RSG 23 Jul 2010 03:48

really? I never thought so. I also never met the man. But I thought he was a great bassist, and seemed very caring.

Well, I couldnt disagree more :-) And I guess you have to be a bit egocentric to make it in the music bussiness...what should his website be about if it shouldnt be about himself?

But I respect your opinion...but have you ever met him??

Evil One 26 Jul 2010 11:49

I've never met the man, or even spoken to the man, so all I can go by is the impression I get from watching him perform. I think he gives off a vibe of arrogance and being full of himself. Maybe it's just confidence in his ability and I have misread things? He may be a great bloke, but that's the impression I get.

Cristina 26 Jul 2010 14:39

it's interesting how negative things never come out when the subject is still in the band. Just a thought, take it for what it is ;) I love bass as instrument and knew (as an artist) and appreciated Kasim when he played with Joan Jett, only later I realised he was in NLE. I still can't judge Danny since there weren't any good quality video around to let me "hear him", but from all your opinions it's great to hear that the band has a fab new bass player

There are many here who've said in the past that Kasim can't hold a candle to Steve Buslowe.

That and saying he is arrogant etc are totally different things

Evil One 26 Jul 2010 15:04

Very true

melon 26 Jul 2010 15:09

I just call it how I see it

meat_loaf2008 26 Jul 2010 18:05

Danny is so amazing.

Wario 26 Jul 2010 18:55

Evil One got it right. He just comes off as full of himself when you see him on stage and on the DVDs.

Danny is different and ike him for that.

But I love how people have forgeten about bustlowe. He was with meat longer then Kasim. 1977 - 1984 then from 1987 -1995 is bustlowe.

Kasim was 1993 - 2009

I disagree, and I have met him. But your impressions are your impressions.

I don't think he comes off as full of himself on his website, either.

A Slice Of English 26 Jul 2010 21:04

I met Kasim backstage a couple of years ago and he was very polite and nice to us then. I think he's a confidant man, confidant in his abilities and rightly so. I would never dream of suggesting someone was arrogant or ego-centric until I had got to know them in the flesh. Words on a website are too easily misconstrued.

AndyK 26 Jul 2010 21:06

Can we get this thread back on topic please?
