Paul McCartney sounded terrible on the X Factor

I just had to mention this. He was woefully bad.

daveake 13 Dec 2009 23:13

Sadly, I missed it ;-)

Happily, I was watching TdV in Vienna at the time :D

RSG 13 Dec 2009 23:20

lucky you!

Sarahdk23 14 Dec 2009 09:58

I didnt think it was that bad...he sounded ok at the first song, but he kinda struggled a bit at the second song...but I dont think it was terrible...

It was an amazing show all in all! I loved Leona Lewis“ performance! And it was definitely the right winner! I love Joe :-)

:twisted: Didn't see it, but luckily some clever sod invented youtube :mrgreen:

YouTube Video

Well he wasn't brilliant, but he doesn't need to be.
When you're an ex Beatle, all you need to do is turn up and your gonna be a hit :shrug:

I doubt many people in the audience were thinking "he didn't hit that note very well".Think they were too busy thinking "holy fecking crap, it's Paul McCartney".

I think the suit was a mistake :bleh: , it made him seem a parody of himself.I'd expect it from a tribute band that's getting a wee bit on in years but on him it looked a bit daft.

All in all though, it's not often he performs these days, so it's nice to see that he can still please a crowd, even if it's not technically perfect :up:

Probaly the most overrated musician of all time who was part of the most overrated band of all time.

A very average performer live. His music does nothing for me, and when I see him live it's like watching paint dry. He's too one dimensional, and always seems static on stage.

Evil One 15 Dec 2009 11:20

~~~~ me! I finally agree with Steve on something! :faint:
youngJB 15 Dec 2009 23:17
Paul was in Boston about a month ago, and I heard he sounded great, so maybe this is just a hiccup. I'm a big fan of his (my big 3 are Meat Loaf, Cat Stevens, and Paul McCartney), and he sounded great on his latest single, "I want to Come Home". Sure he ain't a performer of Meat's caliber (who is?), but he's no doubt a genius songwriter. He doesn't have Steinman's lyrical quality, but as far as tunes go, he's got it down.
Sarge 16 Dec 2009 00:38
Live And Let Die did not sound good indeed, yet Macca impresses me more than any of the contestants. A true legend, great musician and gifted songwriter. Listened to Only Mama Knows the other day - I'm glad that there are still people who write tunes like this.
greg 16 Dec 2009 01:37
must agree with steve watching paul is like watching paint dry , for live and let die , leave it to axel rose he knows how to sing that song
*originaldancechick 16 Dec 2009 17:22
But Paul McCartney wrote and sang it originally. Luv cx
AndyK 16 Dec 2009 17:45
For a TV show that is supposed to be primarily about music with at the very least live singing, the sound quality that has been broadcast from the studio for the last few years has consistently failed to impress, vocals are usually way to low in the mix. This has applied to both the contestants and to the guests, and was certainly true on Sunday with Macca. He's not the most dynamic stage performer I'll admit, but the "live mix" certainly let him down.
Which proves what, exactly?
youngJB 17 Dec 2009 04:34
Truthfully, I prefer McCartney's "Live and let Die" to Axel's.
I thought it was an awful performance by someone who is hugely overrated (yeah the Beatles wrote great songs but their performances lack any form of emotion and Paul here just did the same old shit).
Both two final shows were the most boring the X Factor has ever been in my opinion. It has been a huge disappointment this year.
  • Where were the Christmas songs?
  • Why were so many songs performed again which had been performed over the last ten weeks before?
  • Why did they bring Robbie back? (Honestly Olly's and Robbie's duet on "Angels" was one of the worst versions of that song I've ever seen and heard. Olly's attempt was average karaoke at best.)
  • Why was there only a live band with Paul, which sounded awful? Surely for the final they could have a small orchestra or so to back the singers up? This tape nonsense gets rather boring, especially considering the auditions this year had that same format.
  • What was with the extended 2 hour Sunday show anyway, it was more than 1 hour too long.
  • Why do many of the guest artsts do so many old songs instead of original new material? It's such a waste. The whole series is filled with covers and pre 2000 music (Queen week? Rock week?, give me a break). Quite ridiculous.
  • Why do the profits of the final single not go to charity? No wonder there is such a big movement against this established cover crap to stop it from achieving a Christmas number 1 ever again.
  • Why were so many of the Sunday performances not live?! The group singing bit at the start of the show were always filled with pre-recorded vocals and the guest performances had often been taped before the show went out live (I know this for a fact); Janet / Lady Gaga / even Cheryl Cole herself!
Simon Cowell has asked for an additional £3 million for next year. If these issues are not addressed then I really think it's a joke and hope the show dies as it really seems brain dead-between -advert-filler tv at this rate.
Rage against the Machine for Christmas number 1!! This rehash conditioned easy tv bollox needs to stop ASAP!
