I get a load of grief from my mates cos I like Meat Loaf and his music, but I have grown up listening to his music, so im not gonna stop just cos they don't like him.
I once asked one of my mates the reasons why he said meat loaf was c**p and he paused for a minute before saying 'Cos he's Fat!!!!' - now if that isn't ignorance then I don't know what is?

Ben 18 May 2003 17:30

only one or two of my mates like meat loaf, and even them are not 'fans' they just like a few of his song. im going to see meat twice this year, once in london and once in brighton. if everybody liked the sme thing it would be pretty boring wouldnt it! so NO, i think your perfectly normal!

Meat Loaf Rocks!!!!!!!

I have the same problem, i'm going to the concert at Birmingham, I thought i'd be going on my own cause none of my mates were keen. But i twisted their arm. The problem is that THEY have no taste and probably don't feel passionate about music like we do.
Just out of interest, who did you get to go with you?

Hubby - he does enjoy Meats music but not on the higher plane I do. In actual fact this Forum is the ony place I can be passionate about how I feel.

Not mad at all, just a big fan. If you like going and can afford to, why not? I know some Dutch fans that go to a lot of the German concerts. I have tickets for Oberhausen and when Meat comes to Holland I go to that concert too, and if he does 2 concerts and I can afford it, I'll go twice.
:D

Greg,

You aren't mad, you are living my dream. (OK, Dottie was actually living my dream, but you are living one of my less lurid dreams.) I have always wanted to go to a string of ML concerts in the US but I've never seen him anywhere but in my local area. I had the perfect chance last December when he did nearly a half dozen concert in Florida, all within 4-5 hours of my home. I saw him in my town only, and I let the demands of work and motherhood overcome my dream of "hitting the road" with ML. Now I really wish I had gone on a grand road trip, and I keep hoping he'll have a few Florida concerts scheduled later this tour so I can get a second chance. Enjoy yourself Greg!

You're not mad

They obviously don't understand what it's like to be a dedicated follower of someone.

I wish I could attend concerts as much as that.

The Flying Mouse 20 May 2003 17:46

 Hi Greg.
Your not mad at all mate.
Meat Loaf music is very strong and pasionate, therfore inspiring genuine devotion and pasion in his fans. Not something many artists can do.
What music does your mates listen too?I bet it's not nearly as consuming as Meat's.
Quite frankly,I feel sorry for people who cannot enjoy music this much.

I have had that in the past, but not so much now. Unfortunately if something goes out of fashion with a generation, like rock n roll did when i was a few years back, people will be against something on principle, even if they don't know it.

Luckily i am at uni now and i was suprised just how many people either like or love Meat in my age group now!

Near the start of the year we had a Meat Loaf night, starting at one of the bars and then taking over our campus club. It featured, of course, Meat songs, and I even bought a big frilly shirt for the fancy dress, complete with red hanky!

Definately one of the best nights of the year for me.

that sounded like great fun, i wish we had that sort of thing in my area!

If I could afford it, I would go to all concerts that Meat is going to have in Germany, and this are 8. But I have only tickets for one concert, the one in Munich, and I'm very happy and excited, because it is going to be my first (and the last  )
And shall I tell you something: my parents wouldn't allow it that I go to all the eight concerts in Germany; I'm happy that I'm allowed to go to Munich!
So you are very normal, a bit crazy maybe, but that are we all, isn't it so?
:)
