Quite easily ... it's the fact they didn't hear each other which causes the problem :p

I couldn't possibly comment on the firm who make such systems ...

I think it may have had something to do with Operation Stack.

I'm guessing that by the time the Brit Captain figured out what "Vous n'avez pas la priorite" meant, it was too late ;-)
