"Dead Ringer" Movie?

I read about this in meat's Book and on IMDB:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0101673/

It says "Live Concert fottage" and stuff. Meat mentioned music videos were filmed during this. I know that ever song except Peel Out, Natural Plaser and Everything Is Permitted had been filmed.

Anyone actually ever see this? If so What is it about / what concert fottage?

As far as I know the only screening was at a canadian film festival in 81/82.
The review you can read on IMDB is circulating on the net for a while now, and apparently IS originally from someone who attended said festival.

There are two sources (besides the video clips used for promo) for small clips from the movie, first one around the production date (forgot what exactly it was) and the second one is the british documentary "the music biz" from 95, about the production and promotion of Bat2. (apparently noone knows where they got the footage from)

Talk about an actual release come up once in a while, but they dont lead to anything. It looks like the movie simply got lost. Meat himself said he has no idea where it is or what happened to it.

I just wonder how they can lose a movie, it's not like it's a set of car keys. Hopefully it may surface one day, would be great to see it. :D

Tons of films have gotten lost. Its easier than ya think. If you dont label the film roll it could be in a vault for years in a pile of roills and nobody would know.

30 years ago, that film is without a doubt decayed. Much like old scilent films, that film with no proper refrigeration is Water in a heater.

Some notable lost films:
  • The alternate ending of CASABLANCA
  • The Three Stooges "Nursery Numskulls" Short Film wherethe stooges go to Mother Goose Land
  • Alvin and the Chipmunks go to the Movies Episode "Sploosh". A parody to "Splash" and contained a very inappropreate romance scene between Alvin and a Chipette. Never aired on TV, nore in the syndication packedge
  • Dead Ringer
  • The Old Stoney and Meatloaf music videos
  • TONS of silent films and early 1900s stuff
  • A 1939 King Kong rip of movie set in Birmingham

"Tragedy said Horacio, for I am not a man, but a murder"

i didnt relise they made videos for stoney and meatloaf? i thought meat wanted too but the motown producers wouldnt let them because they were white and then R&B stations wouldn't play them. its why the billboards were done in silloette.
