Meat as Elvis?

Just read in a book that Meat starred as the late Elvis in a mid-eightees TV production. (1985?)
Cant seem to find info on that anywhere...:?

Anyone smarter than me able to lighten this up a bit?

 RJ, sometimes you make it WAY too easy  :lmao:

Can't say i've ever heard of this series.

Which book is this?

RadioMaster 26 Sep 2008 16:53

german ML biography, there's also a pic from the movie in there, I'll try to get it uploaded.

The Flying Mouse 26 Sep 2008 17:03

 Oh, a TV MOVIE.

I suppose that'd make it easier to fall under the radar.

Should be interesting if we can find out more about it.
Even get some clips

EXACTLY...and I think that's the extent of his Elvis connection...are you sure these people know what they are talking about?

Here's the pic and translation of the related paragraph:

But this wasnt the only reason why Meat wanted to play the role: "I wanted to play him badly, infact I even met him personally once. It was about eight years ago, on Broadway. To play Elvis was the role of my dreams." ...

Was this movie ever released? I don't know...can't find any other reference...

AndyK 26 Sep 2008 17:46

I@m pretty sure that pic isn't related to the TV movie. That looks like a live shot from the Bad Attitude era to me. Don't remember any talk at the time of Meat starring in a TV moivie on the life of Elvis, of course the memory fades over years.

RadioMaster 26 Sep 2008 18:00

for fairness I should point out that there are quite a few inaccuracies in this book, but I wouldnt think the author would make up a whole story about a movie, let alone the quoted interview.

The Flying Mouse 26 Sep 2008 18:09

 That looks like a still captured from the Elvis 10 year special.

Would a still from an Elvis movie feature the Bad Attitude cover? :wtf:

Although I don't recall seeing the cover on the 10 year special, i'm sure that's what it's from.

Does anybody know more about that 10 year special?
Perhaps it had a theme to tell the story of Elvis through songs?
Would certainly tie it all together

RadioMaster 26 Sep 2008 18:11

the bad attitude cover was incidently just below this picture, doesnt have anything to do with it.

duke knooby 26 Sep 2008 18:16

and mr loaf is prone to telling a nice story for interviews lets not forget

My thoughts precisely...

RadioMaster 26 Sep 2008 18:35

good point

MeatGrl1 28 Sep 2008 02:53

Yes that looks like 1987 and the 10 year Anniversary tribute thing where he sung Hard Headed Woman and Jailhouse Rock, have a feeling that he did another Elvis number on the show but it escapes me right now. But he wore that jacket alot in 1987, be it a TV show apperance or in concert.
