Brilliant game on Saturday, was shouting at the TV for the final whistle to go!

Missed yesterday's result, who are we playing in the final, South Africa or Argentina?

evil nickname 15 Oct 2007 11:18

That would be South Africa.

Surprisingly, to me at least, Dutch TV has quite a lot of coverage of the the rugby world cup. And from what I've seen, it's a lot more entertaining to watch then american football.

Pudding 16 Oct 2007 00:13

Isn't the South African language a form of Dutch?

Pud

were you watching the right one? :p

I know you'll call it bitter because both Wales and Ireland are out, but it was hardly a classic, now, was it?

Pudding 16 Oct 2007 04:04

A man’s body was found in the harbour wearing a Welsh Rugby jumper, pink panties, fishnet stockings and a dildo up his arse. Police removed the jumper to avoid any embarrassment to his family :lmao:

Q. What’s the difference between the All Blacks and an arsonist?
A. An arsonist wouldn’t waste five matches.

Q. What’s the difference between a tea-bag and the Wallabies?
A. A Tea Bag stays in the cup longer

Afrikaans is indeed related to Dutch, through our "glorious" Golden Age of world domination, slavery and all that.

It certainly wasn't the best game of rugby I've ever seen but it had it's moments and definitely a nail biter at the end

RadioMaster 16 Oct 2007 20:40

you guys should get yourself some proper sports :p

evil nickname 16 Oct 2007 22:10

Like what? Sitting around, eating bratwürst and drinking beer? Ehm, scratch that, that would actually be a proper sport.

djfierce 21 Oct 2007 00:30

Well, we certainly have nothing to hang our heads about, good game but the better team won, unfortunately this time it wasn't us, but much better than the last time we played them ;)

Well done South Africa

Pudding 21 Oct 2007 08:55

England winning would have been a dream ending for a remarkable comeback in this tournement. They weren't even expected to get to the Quater Finals, let alone reach THE final, so hats off to the boys.

Where they fell down was the second half when I got the inpression a few of them were trying to go for personal glory when they had the Boks on the back foot, instead of passing for a team victory. Ah well, still a very good game.

Well done the Sprinboks.

Pud

djfierce 21 Oct 2007 09:03

yeah i'll agree with that.... but mostly it was those flipping line outs.... we just couldn't win one, big contrast to the last world cup but hey ho

Pudding 21 Oct 2007 09:18

The try England had disallowed will be a talking point for many a sore England fan, it was just very unlucky for them. I'm still trying to figure out why England had a penalty against them in the 2nd half. Jonny Wilkinson should have really tried to do more drop goals. And I thought that Hipkiss blew three opportunities to pass the ball out to the right where there were platers, but chose to go for glory and promptly got tackled.

I agree about the try, but the game is now over, it wasn't given, and England just need to get on with it now. Of course, you will see the papers going on about it for the next few weeks. :D

Pudding 21 Oct 2007 11:32

It's been a couple of weeks since the All Blacks got dumped from the championship by the French, and we're still hearing how they were robbed by a forward pass...FFS

And to prove how jelly-in-the-head the All Blacks are, they're taking 'grief counselling' to cope with their loss to France Click ---> HERE

Pud

djfierce 21 Oct 2007 11:37

Well ok we got a bad decision on the try thing but we still would have lost so i think its a bit of a moot point really. Johnny just didnt seem to have the confidence with his kicks that he usually does...either way the team have to learn to function without him as i highly doubt he will make it to the next world cup.

RadioMaster 21 Oct 2007 11:52

again, you guys should get yourself proper sports :p

djfierce 21 Oct 2007 19:07

Please define 'proper' sport for us then Rj ;)
Maybe it's more of a case that you should learn to appreciate a proper sport and get good at it :p
