Kasim at GUITARFEST 2005 - Oct. 1

Guitar Greats To Play At Cascio Interstate Music This Saturday; Performance Times Announced

New Berlin, WI (September 29, 2005) – Cascio Interstate Music, 13819 West National Avenue in New Berlin, presents GuitarFest 2005 this weekend with a stellar line-up of players! Saturday, October 1st, doors open at 10am for this FREE event which will feature an entire day of amazing clinic performances, prize giveaways, photo and autograph interaction opportunities and more. Here's the schedule:

• Johnny Hiland - 5:00 pm - (Fingerpicking Electric/Acoustic Guitar) - Left legally blind by a rare eye disease, Hiland spent his childhood playing guitar for hours on end in a trailer home in rural Maine. In 1996 he moved to Nashville and his jaw-dropping skills earned residencies in two prominent Music City nightspots. A record deal with Steve Vai's Favored Nations record label followed as well as touring and recording with legends like Ricky Skaggs, Toby Keith and Lynn Anderson.

• Kasim Sulton – 4:00 pm - (Electric Bass, Acoustic Guitar) - The stylish journeyman whose brilliant bass playing and flexible vocals have graced the grooves of over 50 million albums. One of the most sought-after sidemen in history, Sulton has played with everyone; Todd Rundgren, Mick Jagger, Joan Jett, Hall and Oates, and hundreds more. He's presently touring with Meat Loaf and developing his own signature bass guitar (www.ksultonbass.com) with Archer Guitars USA.

• Will Ray – 3:00 pm - (Electric Guitar) - A wicked tele-slinger in the tradition of Gatton, Burton and Buchanon, Ray hit L.A. in '83 and morphed with fellow monsters Jerry Donahue and John Jorgenson to form the Hellecasters. They were quickly discovered and signed by Ex-Monkee Mike Nesmith and proceeded to redefine guitar playing as we know it! Ray is also a highly regarded producer for major artists like Steve Earle, Joe Walsh, Thomas Dolby and others.

• Chris Poland – 1:30 pm - (Electric Guitar) - The enigmatic former guitarist of metal protagonists, Megadeth. Most musicians fade from view when they sever ties with
the bands that brought them fame. Poland is a rare exception. Though he chooses to maintain a low profile, his movements remain on the cultural radar. You don't forget players this good. Poland's recent solo efforts and his work with OHM reveal chops loaded with firepower and as potent as ever.

• Kim Stone – 12:30 pm - (Electric Bass) - His tenure with smooth jazz pioneers Spyro Gyra was tantamount to four years in the college of musical knowledge. Upon graduation, Stone enrolled with the highly respected Rippingtons where he has anchored the bottom end for 18 consecutive years! Gratefully borrowed on occasion by venerable peers like BB King and Larry Carlton, Stone is a deeply revered player who has circled the globe relentlessly for his art.

• Artie Traum – 11:30 am - (Acoustic Guitar) - Some years back, Traum mesmerized clinic-goers at Cascio Interstate Music with a deft display of folk guitar virtuosity, clever writing, and career anecdotes from the '69 Newport Folk Festival, his 20 recorded albums, his producing and recording with artists like John Sebastian and The Band, his huge success in Europe and Japan and his recent flirtations with jazz. No victim of disposable pop culture, Traum is the real deal!

Doors will open at 10am for this incredible FREE event. There will be prize giveaways including free guitars and merchandise, hourly specials in Cascio Interstate Music's expansive guitar department, a superjam with all the artists, interactive photo and autograph opportunities and more! Those planning to attend are encouraged to arrive early for best possible seating and parking arrangements. Area media sources are invited to attend and document the event. Please call Joel Bohlen in advance at (262) 786-0487 extension 195, to arrange for interview and photo access to the performers.
