My assumption is he's just trying to get the most he can for it. I offered current market price, but that's about 600 less than I think he was offered last year. I remember when we were talking about it in february, he said if he was to break the tractor for parts, he thought he'd get around 1200 for the wheels and tyres, I thought he'd get about 800 though I didn't tell him that.

As you can imagine, I don't happen to have a couple of spare tractor wheels and tyres lying at my arse, so I'd have to buy some, and drop my offer to accomodate the extra expense.

First local quote for a pair of rims was 250 quid, then tyres are needed on top.

So I imagine it'll come down to further negotiations for it as it sits. It's not on it's original rims anymore, it's on bigger ones, and I must admit, I like the bigger ones, so we'll see.

He's in no rush, I'm in no rush

Shame it wasn't car rims, for I'm sure I must have about 40 of different sizes kicking about

Goodbyes are hard, especially when you've worked alongside some of these people for a very long time. I'm really gonna miss them, both as friends and colleagues.

i'd a bit of a play with the galaxy z fold 2 earlier today... an impressive bit of kit

duke knooby 20 Sep 2020 02:57

350 quid for a pair of goodyear tractor tyres, with similar tread, at a dealer 40 miles up the road.

I've been spot on with my valuation, and fair.

I think an old man in a chair has been spot on.

I'm an old man

there's something seriously wrong with the covid test results data... whether it's false positives, false negatives, incompetence, bad modelling, negligence or just criminal falsification. Is it even mathematically probable to have produced the spikes that have occured??? is it not much more likely to have errors in the data, or errors in the interpretation of the data. somebody please question the data, question the results, question the spikes before the economy and health service get shut down again

I managed to buy the 2nd last copy, of the first edition, and only edition with that title, of an old man in a chairs most recent book. And I'm delighted to say it arrived today :)

I was staggered to learn that according to the ONS in England and Wales alone, between December 2014 and March 2015 there were 44,000 excess winter deaths.

Yet there was no need for lockdowns, social distancing or silly masks back then.

When will this madness end?

duke knooby 21 Oct 2020 22:00

I finally gave in to temptation and bought the bat 2 picture disc double lp

duke knooby 30 Oct 2020 02:05

I don’t think I’ve ever bought something directly from an Australian retailer before... and they’re amazing... ordered 5 hours ago, already tracked with Australia post.

Very very impressive

Love him or hate him, Trump was right about one thing he constantly said at his rallies; after the election Covid 19 will be gone. It was clearly used as a political weapon on many fronts (mail in voting and political attack) since no one pinpointed what else should have been done. Now people are celebrating in the street as if there is no pandemic at all.

The likes of what Michelle Obama said about making it even easier to vote after congratulating Biden/Harris I think is scary:

Quote:

France allowed mail-in voting from 1958 to 1975. It was replaced by proxy voting by law 75-1239 in December 1975. The reasons given at the time to get rid of mail-in voting are the same reasons not to reintroduce it today, namely, that it can and did permit significant fraud.
It is hard to believe Biden "attracted" more votes than Obama.

The mail in voting, EVEN IF FAIR, heavily suited the democrat / liberal ticket.
To simply disenfranchise conservative voters who mostly only come out on election day is disturbing.

Furthermore in person voting could easily still have happened I believe during this pandemic with measures and social distancing in place.
Have the voting stations open for 24 hours for several days if you have to.

Glad we didn't have an election in the UK this year.

Brisbane to Coventry, about a week, proceed through customs and onto Belfast mail centre, a further 5 days

and for the last 4 days my parcel has been sitting in the parcel force Belfast depot, waiting for them to write to me, asking me to pay a vat bill and service charge, before they will deliver.

For me to then have to fill in a customs declaration, to reclaim the vat and service charge that were never applicable to this purchase in the first place

So, give or take, 7 days to travel from Oz to the Uk, and 11 days to travel from the uk to the uk.

Bureaucracy and incompetence slows everything down

:shock: 25 years? Holy moly! One of my favourite Meat Loaf albums.

RSG 25 Nov 2020 21:57

WTTN an album of many great moments. Many surprises. I think the album stands with the Bat 1 and 2. Different world but much greatness. Some classic rock and roll with theatrical moments. Some might say they rushed when recording the record. I believe the album is fine, and the cover art kinda reminds me of CHSIb cover art in some ways.

It really is feeling like 2009 again, we had Professor Neil Ferguson predicting a worst case scenario of 65000 deaths from swine flu, and a best case scenario of 3100 deaths. In the end swine flu killed 457 people. We had the brand new vaccine Pandemrix, given to 6M people in the UK. The vaccine had been approved by the European medicines agency for use across the EU, despite minimal clinical trials. The manufacturer, GSK was given an indemnity by the UK Government, yet a major study (after the event) by the UK Health Protection Agency (now PHE) found around one in every 55,000 jabs led to narcolepsy.

If memory serves from the Pfizer press release, their vaccine has been extensively tested on approximately 43,000 people.

If memory also serves, Pfizer set a record for the largest health care fraud settlement, and the largest criminal fine of any kind with 2.3Bn dollars in 2009.

And as a side note, Sir Patrick Vallance joined GSK in May 2006 as Head of Drug Discovery.

Forgive me for wanting more information to try and make a better informed decision, but all I am hearing on the news tonight is this is an apparent wonder cure.

Someone please show us the evidence, show us the numbers, show us the peer reviewed findings, not just hyberbole, not just one side of the debate.

Totally agree with you. You can't lock up human beings forever.
It ends in total depression. :(

duke knooby 24 Dec 2020 00:51

There are two quite well known outcomes from lockdowns, number one they don't work, and number two, they cause more harm than good.

A less well known outcome from this latest lockdown, is I'm getting the festive period off for once.

They're working hard to persuade me that this lunacy is good. Scaremongering didn't work. Lies didn't work. Bribes haven't worked.

But it's that time of the year, time to wish all of the mlukfc family a merry christmas, happy new year, and very best wishes for the future, whatever happens, keep safe, be happy.

That's an interesting comment on the bbc news website about the lady getting her follow up, 2nd dose of the pfizer vaccine.
quote: The patient was "now recovering well" after her second jab

Given the multitude of reports of either adverse reactions, or health impact events**

**unable to perform normal daily activities, unable to work, required care from doctor or health care professional as quoted from the cdc.gov website

I hope she's ok, and I haven't misinterpreted the meaning.

I do tend to overthink things.
