Another smell I can't stand is the fertiliser that's used on the fields at the back of my house...it's not regular fertiliser :shock:

It's probably the yeast you can smell, and the general "by product of brewing" fermentation odour ... could explain your dislike of Marmite, since it comes from the same place ...
