most of us here in ireland have had the catholic church, religion and god served up to us in neverending plates of dross.

Nothing is wrong with religion...but the problem might be with religious institutions...

the main thing that worries me about religious institutions are the senseless rules and ceremonies. How should that take me nearer to God? I cant identify with such people. Although I´ve got many friend for who it is a huge help in their life, so I guess everybody got to find his/her own way of praising God.

Religion is a big sack of knackers for people who need to be told how to live their lives because they're too stupid to figure it out for themselves. Do good things, don't do bad things, unless they deserve it.

I can't stand people who feel they have go to Church and knock on my door to try and drag me along. Standing in the middle of a Church makes you no more a better person, than standing in a garage makes you a car.

Instead of offering the opinion I dont believe in any religion, and i hate people trying to get me to believe, which by the way i would totally agree with.

Just to head this one off before it descends into another row, and I've seen enough of those to last me to Christmas (next year). I'm never really sure wheer I stand on this issue, somedays I beleive, some not, but one thing I'll always remember is a comment once made by Prince Charles, when questioned as to why he'd chosen to go fishing on a SUnday morning rather than go to church at Balmoral ... I can pray while I'm fishing but I can't fish while I'm praying ... sort of sums up my thoughts on the organised religion thing anyway.

Believe in yourself and your belief in others that both you an others can make a difference, you don't need a book to tell you what to do because it should come from the heart. We can all make a difference and we can all help others more unfortunate than ourselves.

Here´s a statement someone told me some years ago and that will be MY last word on that.

If there´s a God and a judgement day and you dont believe, then you´ll go to hell forever till the end of eternity.
But if there´s no God, and you believe, and you´ll die and nothing happens, you believed in a nice little idea through your whole life, that might be wrong, but it wont hurt you, will it?

So, what´s wrong in believing?

We have nothing to lose in believing there is no god, but if were right you have everything to lose if there is no god. And at the same time IF there is a god isnt he supposed to be forgiving and accept us into the kingdom of heaven, Jesus said to enter the kingdom you must have the mind of a child, Nothing more.

Because its on of the most entriguing (Sp?) aspects of our cultural diffrences (Or simliarities). Its amazing how much we rely on religion. If you know of Nietszche and his idea of the Will to Truth you'll unsdertand why "god is our most enduring lie" its a lie for survival. Amazing how although a lie it still allows for progression and is needed for our survival. Infact I am writing an essay on this type of thing which I have come up with my own theory for if anyone is intrested in readin it when its completed. I am one third complete.

As you can't belong to more than one religion, everyone is therefore a non bveleiver to someone else and therefore everyone is going to hell regardless of what you believe.
