AndyK 19 Oct 2006 13:12

I read something yesterday that said his new series is guest hosted at times when he takes leave to recover ... so I guess it's a bit of both.

wizardofodd 19 Oct 2006 13:17

ive got mine that will be a good day out.... going with the family!!

batcity 19 Oct 2006 14:37

Paul is recovering from his recent 2nd heart attack.

SuperLoafMan 19 Oct 2006 15:05

So it is on the 24th now.

Just I had seen a few post about with the date of the 23rd. But who am I to question you lucky (bleeps) with tickets lol

dottie 19 Oct 2006 16:52

Jayd 19 Oct 2006 22:36

This would have been brilliant if Paul was presenting, with Buster at his side, what a shame he won't be, will still be tuning in though, and should still be a hoot. :D

wizardofodd 20 Oct 2006 17:38

it says doors at 12... why? im sure the programme is live if so it dont start until 5 so what are we going to do for 5 hours

Alex 20 Oct 2006 17:44

I don't think the program is live. I think they record like, 2 sessions a day and then air them later and what not.

Deb 20 Oct 2006 17:49

The 12pm show is prerecorded the 4.30pm show is live.

If anyone wants some tickets for this I have quite a few spare.

Deb

dottie 20 Oct 2006 18:07

The O'Grady Show

I have just looked in the paper and Tuesday's O'Grady show has Cilla Black as running it because he is on holiday. Am I right in thinking that Meat is supposed to be on it? Problem is I loathe Cilla with a vengeance!!!

Tinksbat 21 Oct 2006 17:21

The programme will be filmed on Tuesday, but won't be shown until Friday.

meatloaf-unofficial 23 Oct 2006 19:09

I know Deb now - thanks... Rang them up and they said - Recorded Live, Tuesday and shown on Friday!!!!!!!

I always thought it was shown live on tv all the time.. Oh well I have it wrong!

kweller1 23 Oct 2006 23:23

cant wait till 2morr - so excited!!!

madonna123968848 24 Oct 2006 16:31

Seven hour round trip to get to White City, arrived 11.45am, my ticket in hand (doors opened 12.30pm) only to be turned away due to high volume of audience numbers at 1pm :( Hope those of you that did get in enjoyed it!

Alex 24 Oct 2006 18:18

Me, AndyK and Lucy were in the same boat Madonna.
Got up at 4am to drive down - we were 195th in the queue and there were 192 seats it seems.

No word that will not get me banned can be used to descibe how irritating that is. Not to have not seen the show - but to have wasted all the time and money and effort and sleep .... all because they give away too many tickets.

****ers.

madonna123968848 24 Oct 2006 19:16

Sorry to hear that Alex... I know they have to make sure the audience is filled but I just emailed them to say either do advertising for first come first served or do tickets, the people with tickets get a seat then the turn up on the day people get the left overs? - Still, lets hope it was a good show and I look forward to watching it on tv on Friday!

bathelmet 24 Oct 2006 19:19

Anyone know what happened to Meat-I watched the show and he didn't seem to be on?

wizardofodd 24 Oct 2006 19:36

the show was recorded for friday. just made it in so we were lucky. awsome show meat loaf was very funny as he alllways is. his perfromance was amazing although it was mimed again but that does not matter. realy enjoyed it a great day out. meat looked in good health as well. im not exaculy sure what he said but meat said something on the lines of "Blind AS a bat is a fabtastic song and i hope its the song people hear next" did anybody else take this as a hint that blind as a bat will be the next relesed song or did i miss hear??? anyway great day was very much entertained.

bathelmet 24 Oct 2006 19:38

Thanks for the info-sounds like you had a fab time. Can't wait to see it on Friday.

batoutofhell3 24 Oct 2006 20:52

yeah today was awsome!!! meat was soo funny and bless chantelle she did make herself look quite stupid, and i loved the bit when meat said chantelle's husband looked like clarke kent!!! i just wish they recorded that bit hehe. yeah i think meat's miming was brilliant (as was marion's) but i think it wud have been better if they actuially sang it but we cant have it all can we :P can't wait to see it on friday lol. oh and alan titchmarsh was better than i thought as the host of the show.

this was all I could grab, take your pick as to which vehicle Meat was in...

few of us outside BBC after show.......

Meat was in fine fettle. really shouted down Chantelle:lol: soon put her in her place.........

Wonderful to hear "It's All Coming Back to Me Know" hadn't heard it for 3 hours;)

Poor Alan Titmarch was dumb -founded most of the time, didn't quite know whether Meat was serious, but this is how we love Meat - completely and utterly over the top..

Feel sorry for you guys who couldn't gain entry, the queing was back breaking I must admit, maybe next time:(

Benny 24 Oct 2006 21:30

Thanks for posting dottie;)

Leah 24 Oct 2006 21:32

Thanks for the pics Dottie :D Sounds like all of those that attended had a brilliant time

KebLou 24 Oct 2006 22:42

 I see myself in those pictures:!:

It was really good to see it being filmed, I didn't even recognise Chantelle, but she was walking around the studio with a bunch of mates and I saw one of them from behind that was blond and thought it was her. Then when she came on stage  she wasn't blond.

mikeloaf 25 Oct 2006 00:31

Who hosted the show? Was it Alan Titchmarsh as it says in my TV guide?

Why do artists mime on these shows? Why not just pre-record live and play the recording because we know the show isn't live anyway??

Oh well! The important thing is he's on the show!

CarylB 25 Oct 2006 01:14

Meat on Paul O'Grady show

Back from a brilliant day. Left home at 5.30am to drive to Deb .. arriving at an unsocially early hour .. lol .. Then later off to London for the TV show, where I got a front row seat .. right in front of where Meat sang IACBTMN.

When Meat first came on, although I'd say the Meat fans were by no means in the majority, we gave him a huge and noisy welcome :)) He decided we could do even better and made his entrance again :) I believe we did!!

After the song, he went to the rather uncomfortable sofa which was piled with cushions and threw most of them off .. lol .. He talked about Jimmy, the album, the origins of IACBTMN, his singing partners .. although as he was listing them Alan Titchmarsh (who was guest presenter standing in for Paul O'Grady) interrupted him and got him waaaaay off track just after he had mentioned Cher .. and they never got back to the subject .. So if anyone wonders why he omitted Patti's name .. he was hoisted from his point ..

He was on stage for the whole show .. very funny of course, very entertaining. The other guest was the brain-dead bimbo who won what she described constantly as Big Bruvver .. Embarassingly stupid she wittered on in her shorter section of the interview stage of the show .. Meat's face was a study of polite, kind expressionlessness as he listened to the bizzare nonsense she was spouting .. until she answered the question "What next?" with "I fink I'd like to win an Olympic gold medal" .. at this point his brow just tightened slightly and the corners of his mouth gave a wee twitch .. before he asked her how old she was .. "Twenty" .. "Well dear .. " he then went on to enquire as to whether she had identified a sport to win a medal IN .. and pointed out with gentle humour that most medal winners had been practising that sport for quite a few years before they reached twenty ..

They had a segment when they brought on a "bodger" who wittles wood .. Alan was holding a miniature chair about 6" tall .. Meat a very large carved pelican .. I wondered if he'd tell the joke about what a pelican and a tax-collector have in common .. (They can both shove their bills up their arses ..) But he just said "Mine's a lot bigger than yours!!!" .. He wore his protective apron like a cloak, hanging down his back .. and when invited to have a go at the wittling lathe .. instead took a piece of wood and attacked it with his teeth!!!

He gave Alan (who was I think a bit nervous about hosting the show anyway) quite an easy ride .. although I think he scared him with his impression of a fierce anti-Rock preacher when they were talking about the tenacious D movie :)) After Meat had left the set and Alan was just doing the trailer for the show he shook his head and said "Meat Loaf .. I'd call him Pepperoni!" .. and I thought .. well yes, he's hot stuff .. and as the Pepperoni ads here say .. a bit of an animal .. (but in in the nicest possible way .. rolling ...)

After the show lots of people who had come not knowing Meat was a guest, and not "fans" per se were saying how entertaining he was, and how glad they were now that they had still come to the show even when told Paul O'Grady was not hosting it .. and one old boy said to me as we were leaving "That lad (Meat .. lol) has some energy! I wish I'd had as much when I was his age!!" .. then reflectively "I expect he'll still have it when he's my age!"

And really that says it all ......

Thanks to Deb who drove round London with a speed and verve that would put the most experienced cabdrivers to shame!!

And as Meat leaves my turf to go back to America, I was thinking .. my life feels a little greyer tonight .. but my album arrived today, and that will bring colour and light into it :)) It's been a wonderful ride with Meat these last weeks .. and next year the tour :))

You're havin a larf!! I have never been able to master the art of setting one of those things up...... so we got a DVD recorder instead. We've worked out which buttons are eject and play (there's something like 20+ buttons on the remote!!)..... in the 9 months we've had it, we've never actually recorded anything. Might have a fiddle with it tonight!

SuperLoafMan 25 Oct 2006 10:55

I will be setting the DVD - Recorder, Sounds like an absolutely awesome show.

Meat's back off to the US? All the best for the "Bat On Broadway"

Thanks for the detailed review Caryl. It brings back wonderful memories of being in the audience for that show.

I just want to reiterate how incredibly charismatic & witty Meat was on this show & how gorgeous he looked too!! :D

I would urge as many people as possible to watch this show on TV tonight (it's on at 5.00pm on Channel 4 in the UK).

On the down side, I feel really, really sorry for those of you who travelled a long way to be in the audience & then couldn't get in:(

lot long now to see him.... Can someone please record the Today Show for us please!!!

Pixie 27 Oct 2006 19:11

Paul Grady Show

Oh dear, I thought I'd never stop laughing! :D Did you see it?

I was pretty miffed to begin with as I missed Meat performing, but what came after almost made up for it  Alan Titchmarsh was hilariaous and Meat must have thought he was on a different planet when AT conducted a brass band, with the whole audience singing as well to New York New York and the old lady on the phone got it wrong :D

Meat was really funny as well and looked very handsome and relaxed. I have the feeling (having also read quite a few reviews) that this tour/almbum is going to be a huge success and that Meat's presence will be wanted by many talk show hosts (with good senses of humour only! :D :D ). Made my evening!

BillyPhatu 27 Oct 2006 19:13

Does anyone know if or when Paul O'Grady is repeated? I got in just as it finished :(

samurai7 27 Oct 2006 19:15

Was laughing when Meat put his apron on backwards like a cape.

LucyK! 27 Oct 2006 19:24

Yeah whatever...not that good...so not bothered I didn't see it being recorded.....

...and I'm a crap liar!! Ohh I'm gutted I wasn't there, Meat seemed on such good form - clearly had the measure of Chantelle!! Though by the cheers it sounded as though we were well represented!

Well done Meat!

Pixie 27 Oct 2006 19:35

[quote=Though by the cheers it sounded as though we were well represented!

That's for sure, the audience was fantastic! Well done everyone who was there

MeatGrl1 27 Oct 2006 20:00

Where do I start...

Gorgeous performance !
Hilarious interview, the bit where he started yelling :lmao: !
Loved how he wore the cape backwards!
Loved his take on wood carving... USE YOUR TEETH :lmao: !
Liked how Chantelle almost got into an argument with him:lol: !

Yes taped it and will probably watch it over and over again!

 it!

Brilliant to see it all again. Still adored Meat's bemused look whilst Chantelle was prattling on .. and one thing I'd missed on the day was her choice of sport to win her daft Olympic Gold in .. JUGGLING!! Or should I say "jugglin' or somefink"

Thanks Heady :) .. and thanks Christa .. I'd love to write it with him .. lol ..

Thats why i spend ages compressing mine to submit them up to internet video sites, removes all the hassle for everybody. if it's preferred i can upload uncompressed versions for download in either mp3 or wmv format. PM me to request it.

i have both come dancing shows and this one available. full res file for Paul O'Grady show comes in at 1.5GB, so please remember to include your desired file size.

bathelmet 28 Oct 2006 17:56

I wouldn't call recordings where Meat mimes worthless. I think it is often dictated by the producers of the show, and also it saves Meat's voice (very important).

Sapphire Lady 28 Oct 2006 18:29

Agree with bathelmet.

Also it's not always practical to set up all the equipment needed (instruments, mics, amps, monitors, mixing desk etc) in a small TV studio for only one song.

I'd love to write it with him .. lol ..

She said she wanted to win an Olympic Gold for the javelin.... how Meat Loaf and Alan Titchmarsh kept straight faces I dont know.... when Meat said near the end "well she never said WHAT Olympics" you just had to laugh   .

The whole thing was great, glad you all had a good time watching it.

I've added this show to The Naked Wire (Happy RJ :-)) It's in 5 parts and they are all big files as I've done it in avi format straight from vobs
