1987-ish (or thereabouts)

It was part of thew soundtrack to the movie Car Trouble starring Julie Walters. Havenm't heard it in a long long ltime, but the movie was second rate and song nothing too special from what I remember.

EVERY Meat Loaf fan should have a copy of MEAT LOAF & STONEY. This record is PHENOMENAL, I have always enjoyed it WAY MORE than his other non-Steinman stuff.

Meat Loaf & Stoney? Never heard of it. Got two copies of something called Stoney and Meatloaf [sic], but that can't be it, right? :p

My album is, actually, called:

MEAT LOAF

Featuring Stoney & Meat Loaf...

or something like that. It has a huge plate of Meat Loaf on the front cover. If you turn it over, on the vinyl LP I have, Meat Loaf's signature is there. Now all I need is Stoney's then I'll frame it (somehow...)

I have downloaded some of these tracks and they are awesome but I also respect the fact that Meat Loaf doesn't like this record for the soul reason that he had no input into it...

not forgetting "stand by me" , yes , the cover version of that well known classic.
only on the b-side of nowhere fast 12" single. think that is as rare as you can get. plus the beatles covers on "not a dry eye" cd single. could the extended versions only available on 12" singles ( ie razors edge, modern girl, take a number, nowhere fast, piece of the action, r&r mercenaries, getting away with murder, and blind before i stop ) be taken as rare versions.
also the remix of "fallen angel" and "midnight at the lost & found".

That's a much later re-release you've got there (1978/9 I think). The original was under the name 'Stoney And Meatloaf' [sic]. There are TWO different reissues available - the one you have with that awful cover, and one with the original-style cover, which has an old-style sepia image of Meat in a top hat, sitting in a chair holding a cane, with Stoney standing next to him dressed in 1980's style getup. Both reissues are called 'Meatloaf - Featuring Stoney and Meatloaf' [sic], obviously to cash in on the previous year's 'Bat Out Of Hell' success.

Except you probably already knew that, right? :-P

I had one with a sepia style photo on the cover. I'm sure it was just named "Stoney And Meat Loaf". Anyway I moved abroad and left all my records stored at my sisters and when I finally had them taken over, it was gone:( Don't know where it is to this day. Gutted.

On my If You Really Want To picture record there's a song called; Lost Love that I'm pretty sure is rare!! I still have no idea what it sounds like because I am terrified of putting it in my record player incase I damage the picture or record.

The song isn't rare just because you refuse to play it.

I don't refuse just that I love my picture record and payed a fair bit for it so if I ruin it it would upset me alot!

That still doesn't make it rare.

I'm presuming that like a lot of people with picture discs, you have it framed of some sort. I'm also presuming that if you do, then you'll be displaying Side-A instead of Side-B. And I'll take another presumtion in assuming that the song in question is on Side-B.

So, if by some complete misfortune you happen to be the worlds most clumsiest person and end up putting a scratch in it the size of Rolf Harris's digeridoo, no one's going to see it anyway.

Why do you buy a record if you dont wanna listen to?
Sure it´s good to have it for your collection, if you were searching for, but if you havent got the song anywhere else, then, for me, listening to the song would be 10x more important than looking at the picture.
And...
Do you think the record will break when listen to? Absolutely nothing will happen if you dont use it as a frisbee(sp?)

You must van an ultra-special edition then: on my copy of the 'If You Really Want To' picture disc, the song is on side two.

Perhaps the one MeatGril has is shaped like a ball, then technically it would be on side one :sherlock:

Well, actually, I've acquired some stuff on vinyl without having a record player at the moment. That's an situation that is going to be rectified, but when? I wouldn't know.

Yeah, I have a few records and no record player. But I did have when I bought them! I may have to purchase another one sometime.:D

I didn't think we were talking about NOT having a record player - that's quite understandable...but...having it...and having what you think is a rare song...and NEVER listen to it...well...I guess that would make this song...

No. That would make it, for you, an unplayed, rare song. Others may still have it and listen to it. I've converted a lot of vinyl-only stuff to some digital format.
The 'rareness' doesn't lie in the times it's played, but in the numbers in which someting is available. Thus, the song "Thrashin'" from the movie of the same name isn't exactly rare as a copy of said movie can be easily obtained. It's merely 'seldom heard'. The Popcorn Blizzard tracks, those I'd call rare.

You can also use that argument as you said songs that are seldom heard are rare as they are seldomly heard, works both ways.

I dont know...I´m listening very rarely to Lost boys and golden girls but it´s really really not a rare song...maybe we should find another definition for that...
