All Star Golf August 26-28th

It's been confirmed that Meat WILL be taking part in this event, more info to come next week.

Tickets are £5 for the practise session on saturday and £20 per day for the Sunday and Monday sessions.

Anyone thinking about going?!

AndrewG 06 Aug 2006 10:38

Unfortunately I will be in Disneyland then.

meatloaf-unofficial 06 Aug 2006 11:34

It will be the only time I wacth any sport. Hate sports but I can watch golf because Meat is playing it :)

Alex 06 Aug 2006 11:42

I'm on my Jollies till the wednesday the week before, so it's timed nicely! I'll go I think - something to do for a few days! :D

LucyK! 06 Aug 2006 13:14

Alex I feel a road trip coming on lol!

chrissylf22 06 Aug 2006 13:22

where is it being held?

LucyK! 06 Aug 2006 13:25

Celtic Manor in South Wales, it's about 90 minutes out of London

http://www.celtic-manor.com

LucyK! 06 Aug 2006 14:01

http://www.celtic-manor.com/all_star/ has details of the event itself, including booking tickets, rather than just the venue

samurai7 06 Aug 2006 15:04

It's rather annoying that I live so close to the Celtic Manor, but can't attend cos I have to do some gigs. :(

Not that I'm sad about doing gigs, cos I love it, but everything always seeems to happen when I'm working.

SuperLoafMan 06 Aug 2006 20:35

I would like to go, Will think about it this week,

Sure I can get a few mates to come along for the ride on sunday!!

I guess it will be a good few hours from where I live to there though, better sort out the Meat collection for the car!

MeatGrl1 06 Aug 2006 22:38

Planning to go but then realized you had to pay for the three days seperatly which sucks! Will still show my support by watching on the telly!

LucyK! 07 Aug 2006 10:50

According to Celtic Manor, tickets can be purchased on the day at the gate, however if you buy on the gate they won't provide a parking pass

Which means you guys will have to walk. :))

Alex 07 Aug 2006 14:04

Had a thought, maybe there should be some "Golfin' Meat Loaf" titles. ( -g  )

Everything Is Putted.
Hole 11 Can Wait.
FOUR! (Crying Out Loud)
Dead Ringer For Woods (Tiger Woods that is).
Out of the Bunker and into the Rough.
Good shots go to the green, bad shots go everywhere.
Lost Balls and Broken Clubs.
You Never Can Be Too Sure About That Shot.
Keep Driving (err.... ).

Probably my favourite....
Bad 4 Wood.

But of course, when you really, really need it the most - there's pitch and putt dreams on hole 2. (the par is yours forever!).

Hypnobabe 07 Aug 2006 23:12

:lmao:

LucyK! 08 Aug 2006 09:45

Alex don't you ever tell me you've had a busy day at work again!!

chrissylf22 08 Aug 2006 13:40

hayley 21 Aug 2006 16:10

hayley 21 Aug 2006 16:20

Lord Kagan 21 Aug 2006 16:28

Getting old there hayley?

hayley 21 Aug 2006 16:31

if only that could be the excuse lol

LucyK! 21 Aug 2006 17:23

The European team has been confimed already. The US team is to be announced this week, if it hasn't already, though the only two i know so far are Meat and Alice Cooper

Lord Kagan 21 Aug 2006 20:35

Sounds like its gonan be an interesting match already

MeatGrl1 21 Aug 2006 21:41

Damn I wanted to be there!
But alas it would have cost too much:-(!

Alice Cooper has played golf for 20+yrs, and was kind of shunned by fellow R&Rers, beacause it didn't fit into the R&R image of "cool" back then. Some yrs later though they realized what a great asset it could be to them, like making deals and bouncing ideas of each other ect, like the corporate world has done for eons, now lots of R&R celebs play golf. :)

RadioMaster 22 Aug 2006 10:11

Am I getting really really senil in my young age, or did we have this whole Alice Cooper talk already some months ago...?

dukesofhazard 22 Aug 2006 18:16

South wales Echo today has info of the US team. No Meat Loaf mentioned :( closest is Alice Cooper - maybe whoever started the rumour got Meat and Alice mixed up :?

I guess we'll have to wait and see for the full confirmed line up.

MeatGrl1 22 Aug 2006 18:43

I got my TV guide a few minutes ago and it looks like Meat Loaf will be one of the 'FOUR MORE SURPRISE CELEBRITY GOLFERS TO BE ANNOUNCED FIRST SHOW', I am so excited! And if you don't believe me.. Sorry it is a little on the blurry side:oops: !

Hope he will be one of the four 'surprises'. I wouldn't take the South Wales Echo's word for anything anyway - they're not the most reliable source!

Like I said we'll probably have to wait and see.

As Deb quite rightly said, people are going to have to make some quite extensive travel/accomodation plans if they want to attend this...

MeatGrl1 22 Aug 2006 21:07

I cannot say!
But believe me he will be there!

Deb 22 Aug 2006 21:15

So will you refund us all our expenses when he isn't? lol

LucyK! 22 Aug 2006 21:17

My worry just now is that - as you'll have noticed - it was me that started this thread confirming Meat would be there, and this was info that I received very recently. It's 4 days before the event now and there's still no mention of him on the team lists, so I'm sat here shrinking into my seat hoping to God he does still go so that people don't have to cancel plans based on my info!

So you'll understand the request for any information possible!

ChrisBelfast 22 Aug 2006 23:39

The first thing that brought to light that Meat was playing this was the Mirror newspaper who mentioned Meat and Alice Cooper a couple of months ago. Then a few people PM'd him and he said either yes, or at the moment he was scheduled too (according to people who pm'd him) This is now a couple of months on things can change though. So who knows, but yes f two months ago he was appearing. Dont worry Lucy, it was the Mirror newspaper that first posted this that brought the whole thing to light, so its them to blame of anything, you were just sharing what you knew.

Right you are Chris. Just a suggestion ... has anyone thought about sending Meat a PM, asking if he was still going to be there ? I'm sure he's extremely busy right now, but he might answer your question if he gets a chance.

Lucy, don't panic just yet! According to the ITV website, the last 3 American team players will be announced live on Saturday. Don't know if it's the 'norm' for this sort of thing, but when my son was on holiday with one of the European Team players a few weeks ago, he still wasn't sure if he'd be in the team or not - at that time he was down as reserve, but now it's been announced in the past few days that he is in the European team..... and he seemed to be aware that Meat was in the line up.

RadioMaster 23 Aug 2006 10:12

I´d just suggest you to call whoever organizes this event and ask them if he´s in. I´m sure they´ll help, if they can.

Deb 23 Aug 2006 10:23

I can't see Meats name being in them 3 to be announced, for the simple reason, surely Meat would have to know if he's coming or not by now, as he'd have to fly here? I'd say the 2 or 3 names as it is in different places, are those of Americans that are already in Europe. And that they are trying to fill places of Americans that have since said they could do it, been unable to for what ever reasons. Such as Meat. I could be wrong here but it makes far more sense. I don't see what announcing 3 names at the last min will achieve for ITV. I'm, guessiing it just means they ahaen't got the 3 names themsleves yet.

Deb

I agree with this too. If Meat was in this line-up, I think his name would have been in that first list already. Maybe he couldn't make it, due to being busy promoting. It would be a shame if this is the case. :D

LucyK! 23 Aug 2006 10:37

Even if Meat is one of the names that's announced live on Saturday, that's still going to mean lots of people can't go - I certainly can't go down there on Saturday morning and pay for tickets, hotels and travel in the hope that it's him

Deb 23 Aug 2006 10:39

I agree Lucy :( Why is everything always so uncertain lol. I'd like life to be uncomplicated :D

LucyK! 23 Aug 2006 10:54

In a last ditch attempt so find something out, I have emailed the very nice lady in charge of special events at Celtic Manor and explained the situation, ie, we want to go but can't pay for everything on the basis he MIGHT be there, ( went for the sympathy vote ) so hoping she'll be able to advise on way or the other...doubtful but no harm in asking

Pudding 23 Aug 2006 11:01

With the recent pictures of the band rehearsing on Pauls website, I highly doubt Meat's involvement with the All*Stars golf tournament, but you never know.

Pud

Deb 23 Aug 2006 11:01

LOl Sarah, but I need EASY. :-P

I think that one's been tried Luc :? They don't know anything either. Nor does the NEC, which makes me think even more that nobody knows who these other celebs are and that they are trying to fill places of those that can't now make it.

I didn't think of that...though just to be fussy, Paul says on the site that the rehearsal was just the 5 guys in the picture, non of whom are Meat...

Chris 23 Aug 2006 11:18

I got a number via a friend of a friend last night adn rang ITV this morning.

I think i spoke to everyone at the relevant production company apart from the tea lady . The nice chap i finally spoke to confirmed that Meat was a possible for the show but that the American team had not yet informed the production company of the final line up.

He has promised to ring me as soon as the line up is confirmed so i shall post more if i get it.

Not much help I know but hey ho....

LucyK! 23 Aug 2006 11:23

Thanks for that Chris, at least we know not to expect anything for another couple of days...

Deb 23 Aug 2006 12:18

Listening to radio ulster now and they said they interviewed Meat from london yesterday :D

So looks like we have golf :D All being the radio staions telling the truth lol and it wasnt on the fone from the USA :-P

I'm recording the interview and will put it up in a few.

Deb

Deb 23 Aug 2006 12:26

Scrap that theory :( Marion Ravens there and I don't see why she would be here now. Probably when they were here for the London Listening party :(

Deb 23 Aug 2006 12:29

theyre still saying live in a studio yesterday live in london

Maybe Marions playing golf as well :D

RadioMaster 23 Aug 2006 12:29

did anybody record it?

Deb 23 Aug 2006 12:31

Deb

RadioMaster 23 Aug 2006 12:37

LucyK! 23 Aug 2006 13:40

Email from Celtic Manor;

"Hi Lucy,

It is heavily rumoured that he is attending but again i can not confirm this, as i am not told until they release the names on television on Saturday evening.

Sorry for any inconvenience "

Deb 23 Aug 2006 13:42

So I guess they want the suspense for the tv, which is wonderful for the viewers, but not for those planning to go lol

Oh I long for a simple life :-P

Deb

RadioMaster 23 Aug 2006 14:00

So somebody should mail/call the one, who´s responsible for the americal team:sherlock::

Meataholic 23 Aug 2006 14:02

There's no chance of a simple life Deb ;)

Lucy - I had a similar response when I spoke to a guy from Celtic Manor yesterday.

As far as I can gather, RM, no one knows for definite who the final American players will be & I'd guess that organizers of the American team are frantically trying to sort everything out!!

I would not be surprised if Meat himself doesn't know for certain whether or not he is playing:shock: - perhaps he is trying to juggle various promotional activities!

Heather

Deb 23 Aug 2006 14:08

If that interviewers telling the truth and that was yesterday, then I think meat will be there. If he's telling fibs to make it sound better and it was really when they were here for the Listening Party, then i don;t think meat will be there lol. (God I even confuse myself)

Have to laugh at this bit from the interview....

Presenter: And what will we see in the autumn time?

Meat: The leaves changing colour :keke:

Deb

Meataholic 23 Aug 2006 16:18

Ok, this is getting a bit too obsessive now but I have just phoned Radio Ulster &, for what it’s worth, the lady there said that the interview definitely took place yesterday :-)

LOL. Quite true Deb. But if we end up standing in a “field” in south wales (possibly in the rain) for the whole of the bank holiday weekend & only manage photos of Alice I don’t think we’re going to be particularly happy!! (no offense to Alice or his many fans)

dukesofhazard 25 Aug 2006 21:33

NEWS!!!

South Wales echo have confirmed Meat Loaf WILL be playing at the All*Cup!

There's an interview(ish) but I can't scan the page so I'll do my best to copy it in another reply to follow - bear with me!

dukesofhazard 25 Aug 2006 21:57

Here's the meat (so to speak) of the feature:-

"I'm Going to be wearing a nice little outfit" laughed his royal Meatness, counjouring the image of him in plus-fours and a lemon yellow Pringle jumper.

"But Tiger Woods plays golf, what I'll be doing is something else entirely. I don't play golf in my spare time because I don't have spare time but. But when I had to ride a horse for a film I went to horse riding school and what I learned was not how to ride a horse but how to look like I could ride a horse. Likewise I went to golf school for a day to learn some techniques and they gave me some great advice. Am I expecting to win? Let's put it this way, I play golf a certain way - I'm the golf illusionist. I don't like people to be quiet when I'm playing. In fact I encourage people to shout at me on my backswing and make loads of noise so that when I hit the ball I can reply to those shouts so the crowd are looking at me and not where the ball goes. It's a deception."

Meat Loaf is back in the UK to promote his latest album Bat Out Of Hell III: The Monster Is Loose, the second sequel to the eighthmost successful album in history. It's had a troubled birth with El Loaf involved in a legal wrangle over the rights to the Bat Out Of Hell trademark with his partner and songwriter Jim Steinman.

"The problem is that Jim hates my manager and I hate Jim's manager, we each think the other is the Devil incarnate. So the communication broke down and if Jim and I could have just sat down and talked about it we would have been fine but once other people's agendas interfere it becomes a different thing."

The dispute was resolved and Steinman has contributed 7 songs to the new album so are they on good terms?

"Yeah, me and Jim are getting on fine. After this album there is a boxed set coming out so I see e-mails flying between him and my manager."
But do you actually talk to each other?

"We talk on e-mail"

It seems a tense relationship based on mutual need but he sharply countered the intimation that he need Steinman to succeed.
The new album has several influences outside of Steinman with performances from Brian May and Steve Vai and writing from Nikki Six and John 5. It's produced by Desmond Child who has altered Meat Loaf's vocal style to make him hold back more. The result is a record that, while perhaps inadvisably harder-edged in production to make it more 'now', features some of Meat Loaf's best vocal work to date.

"I read interviews with people in magazines and they talk about what their influences are, who their contemporaries are, but I don't exist in that world. For me it's about the lyrics and the emotions because all that matters to me is what I'm doing. Bat Out Of Hell is like nothing else out there."

Bat out of Hell III is out on October 31. Tickets for the Golf are available at the gate on all three days with parking available on park and ride only.

Phew! That took some doing! Pretty good interview for the Echo I think - especially interested in the box-set due out, hopefully with some bonus features (though I'll probably get it even if it doesn't).

Hope you guys appreciate all that typing and that someone hasn't beaten me and scanned the page!!!!;)
