57. Where The Rubber Meets The Road

This is the START OUT OF HELL & ARRIVE TO HEAVEN topic.
Let's Go to Rock 'n' Roll!!!!!!!

Where The Rubber Meets The Road (8)

It's reaaly rock! I think Welcome To The Neighbourhood isn't the best album but it is good. I like the frame of the song it's pretty cool! I think Paul and Sarah wanted to write a little Bat Out Of Hell... just with car!

Good, just short...

My score: 8

Average: 8.36 (267.5/32)

Garrett 03 Mar 2003 19:59

For me "Welcome To The Neighbourhood" is the the second-best album after BOOH2!! The song "Where The Rubber Meets The Road" deserves a

9/10

Tim 03 Mar 2003 20:27

A great song. First time I heard it, i fell in love with it. The live version is even better. Even this is not a Steinman song, it sounds great. The whole WTTN is a great album.

8.5/10

MeatBall 04 Mar 2003 07:31

Great song from a great album

9/10

Michel 04 Mar 2003 21:25

Very good song! Written by Pau Jacobs and Sarah Durkee! These writers are best if you don't count Jim!

Great rock 'n' roll music, comparable with Pieve Of The Action!

My score: 8/9

The Flying Mouse 12 Mar 2003 19:03

 This is a very difficult song to review for one simple reason...

Every time I review a song I listen to it first to get it fresh in my mind.
Unfortunatly I played a live version of Where The Rubber Meets The Road.Suddenly it was of the highest priority for me to grab my mic stand and sing it a few times  .It's funny how certain Meat Loaf songs can turn my living room into Wembley stadium 8) ,and how many thousands of screaming "air" fans you can fit in here.Hey,Rock & Roll Daydreams  .
Anyway,back to the song.
The first time I heard it,I thought this is a bit slow Meat. Then the intro finished and the song kicked in.BANG.I thought,I think i'll shut up now.
Great rock song.Very heavy.
The lyrics are great.I love,"you can call her a sl.t,and you can call her a slave, just remember to call her miss".
9/10 Heart pounding.

Ben 25 Mar 2003 02:56

I THINK THAT THIS IS A REAL "GET UP AND GO SONG" ID HAVE TO GIVE THIS A 9!!!

Bart 25 Mar 2003 11:13

he sings it really really great. and the lyrics from sarah are as always wonderful. i wonder why there is only one song on it and none on CHSIB.

9/10

JacenSolo 06 May 2003 19:55

this is one of my driving songs !!
My Score: 8.5

TeamNZfan 11 May 2003 12:18

I think WTTN is an excellent CD but I have never liked this song!

I think the vocals and musical arrangement are great but I have a real problem with the words! Maybe I am being to politically correct. Mabybe I don't really 'get' the song ...

Overall this would only be a 5/10 vote

sherrie87 13 May 2003 21:51

I agree with most of you, this is an absolutely rocking song! I listen to this almost every evening as I am washing dishes. Start with this one, and by the time I get to "Original Sin" the kitchen is clean! I love the lyrics, this is the most Steinman-like song not written by Steinman, IMHO.

badger 03 Jul 2003 02:08

This song has some real power in it. You really get swept up into it, a truly great piece of rock and roll.

WTTN is one of my all time favourite albums, and so this would always have to gt a high rating from me, and I will give it a fast paced:

9/10

This is among my favorite Paul Jacobs/Sarah Durkee songs. I love the line about the cops trying to get the under age sex on video tape. This is a really good rocker.

Just wanted to mention WOH, Bat Out Of Hell is about going as fast as you can go. And neighborhood is basically about, teenage love. almost, slightly almost like paradise, but two different stories.

shadow1000001 23 Aug 2003 04:54

I always have it cranked in the car. I just love the lyrics
9.5/10

Rozi 07 Sep 2003 19:26

I love this song as well - its got an amazin beat. Its a get up and go song that u can't help singing along to ( except i cant sing - but that aint gonna stop me!)
I'll admit there are hardly any meatloaf song i dont like, but this and razors edge are two of my all time favs. I drive my mates mad by listenin to them loads.
I'd give it 9 outta 10.
Rozi :D

little_dancer 15 Sep 2003 23:34

ok, I'm gonna be REAL unpopular here, but I had to be devils advocat...I think Meat sings this song with great power, but I find the lyrics quite offensive.

I understand the ideas of anti-PC, and the frustration men MUST feel about some of the sexual politics going on...

but having had to flee, fight, and call the police myself before...I don't know..

"shrink in the bed, lord, sitting on the headboard, swearing that we both got raped" is hard for me to handle...

It's my least favorite Meat Loaf song...

sorry if this offends anyone, but I felt that the point had to be made. Maybe there is some satire involved in the lyrics, and I'm missing part of the point but...
yes means no means yes means no...

NOpe, NO means NO.
sorry if that offends anybody....I really needed to say that, though. :(

The very first time I heard this song I had to pick myself up off the floor, I was laughing so hard. :D The humor pulls this one up big time for me.

In the song where the rubber meets the road...

Who or what is Mr. PC? I'm just curious, I'm english but have a very pooor vocabulary.

goodhip 04 Dec 2003 17:32

i have always thought mr pc is polictly correct ifi anyone can spell and can uderstand what i am trying to say please corect me many thnaks

RSG 04 Dec 2003 17:39

thanks :D

Michel 04 Dec 2003 17:46

I've merged the two topics about this song.

nowherefast 04 Dec 2003 21:56

I used to dislike this song (and WTTN) but now for some strange reaon I really like the album. I guess the anticipation after BOOH II meant that this album would never live up to expectations. But I really like this song and it's probably 3rd best on it (behind I'd Lie For You and Original Sin).

you know what sounds good to me? this song, it rocks, im not 100% of the meaning but it rocks. An ace album, I really like it! Great all the way through! Maybe a couple more lines could have been different in between the repeating part. But it rocks! Almost solid gold!

9.5\10

Edit 06 Dec 2003 00:51

Meat does not sing very many songs that I don't like...and this one is one of my favourites, specialy whilst I am driving.
The number of drivers looking at me at roundabouts when I scream 'Welcome to protection mode..' hey, life's great when you have a Meat Loaf song for every mood.

martha_mae 06 Dec 2003 20:26

I like the way this serious message is put across in a humourus way.

I like the music...it just rocks!

I just love it

Really love this song and the lyrics and it is one of my favourite meat songs, so id say 9.5/10

Debs :)

A Slice Of English 09 Dec 2003 21:39

Yes, Mr PC stands for Politically Correct:

"Son I'm Mister PC, believe you and me, I'm the ultimate King of Correct"

Which is a much needed kick in the teeth to the way Political Correctness has gone way too far in its search for "equality". Its gone so far that its almost a crime to be White. I am no racist, but I resent remarks being made about the colour of my skin and how it compares, in the eyes of the law, unfavourably with someone who is not of white origin.

I love this song, simply because of its rebelious nature that is underlined with an excellent sense of logic. The humour of the situation is evident and yes, with some women "yes means no means yes means no".

Definitely a song for the guys in that respect! How many of us know that feeling of being messed about? I'm willing to wager a high proportion!

9/10

LostSoul 28 Dec 2003 16:26

It simply rocks! and even if Meat sings it at the lightning speed... I can sing it all the way! great one! the lyrics are really full of metaphors and hell I do like metaphors!

8/10

airhead 05 Apr 2004 02:04

HAHA!!!!

Well, seriously, if only all these teens that are getting preggers out there would listen to this song. This song puts an image of meat giving a sex education lesson to a teenage boy. Ppprpht I know!!!

Yes means no means yes means no means the things in kids minds before whatsit.

Very good.

8/10

rockfenris2005 10 Apr 2004 06:06

Actually, this track, ORIGINAL SIN and A.I.G. are my favourite songs on the CD. They're the only good songs. I still give RUBBER a 7/10.
