Celebrity Fans
I wonder if Meat has any celebrity fans, and if so (which he proberbly does) then who....
....maybe we have a closet celebrity on here..............  |
I know the lead singer of Wheatus is a fan. That's the only reason he turned up for Party in the Park last year, to see Meat!!!!! :D Jack Dee drove in a queue lasting 3 hours with his wife to see Meat at Wembley on 18th Nov, and we all know what happened there! Russell Crowe too may count, cos on Parkinson he said he played Eddie and Dr Scott in the Sydney production of RHPS, and mentioned Meat had played the roles originally. Princess Diana, too, seen him a couple of times. Does anyone else think she was flirting with him when she met him and said "I'm hungry!" :!:
|
 I know Jack Black is a fan.
He invited Meat to the movie premier of School Of Rock.(unfortunatly it was a night Meat was doing a concert). It would be interesting to know if any celebrities (other than the band  )visited here 8O |
these people all rock! Especially Jack Black :D
|
Bernhard Hoecker, a German comedian is a Meat Loaf fan. I think the Germans here know him from "Genial daneben".
|
OK, time to own up, im Lee Evans (if you can count me as a celebrity?!)
Sorry for not admitting it before!! :lmao:  8) |
Dutch writer Harry Mullisch ("The Discovery Of Heaven", "The Assault") has said on various occasions that "Paradise By The Dashboard Light" is the only pop-song he appreciates. That does not make him a fan, but I thought I'd mention it.
|
Top author Terry Pratchett is pretty heavily influenced by Meat and Jims work, many of his books include an obscure reference somewhere along the line, and I'm sure I remember reading an interview with him once when he admitted as much.
|
I could have met Terry Pratchett in Ottakars, but nooooooo, I had to go and see my two nephews instead!!!!!!!! :x
|
the UK politician William Hague (former leader of the Conservative party)
Also Bill Stewart who used to present 15-to-1 says he has been known to enjoy the odd Meat song! |
I have to admit having a bit of a thing for Jack Black in School Of Rock, he's just got that certain Meaty something!
I was thrilled to find out that the legend that is Jon Bon Jovi is a fan! He's my other love in life! |

Hi MEATWKA
Are you really Lee Evens, comedien, or are you taking the mick? |
I heard Evanescence came to be when she heard him playing I'd do anything for love...
They are both fans of Meat and Jim... or so I've heard Klasien |
Not quite. She was singing IWDAFL in a summer camp thing and got spotted
|
I'm a fan and I have a band :D
But I'm afraid I'm not a celebrity yet  |
I'll be famous one day.. does that mean i'm a closet celebrity?
|
What happened with meat and jack dee then? i havent heard anythgin about this, my ears are burning
|
What happened with Meat and Jack Dee??
|
yes, hmm that came out wrong lol, u kno what i meant
|
Nothing happened between Meat and Jack Dee!!!!!!! 18th Nov was the one when he collapsed, and JD and his wife had been one of many who sat in a huge traffic queue and 3 hour journey to get to that concert to see it!!!!! Sorry if it sounded like it meant something else!!!! :D
|
ANother celebrity fan climbedout of the closet at the weekend ...
Dermot O'Leary - star of Big Brothers Little Brother and Radio 2 DJ claimed at the weekend that "Meat Loaf is the best singer in the world and when he sings the songs from the worlds best songwriter Jim Steinman no one can better him" |
Hmmm I thought I spotted in the audience of the WTTN live show (that was televised) Rosanne. I'm sure it was her, did anyone else spot her? She was stood up (at the front row) when Meat was going into "Not a dry eye" I think!! Anyone else agree?! :wtf:
|
Not sure on resources but pretty sure Peter Kay is a fan
|
Yeah I'm sure I read somewhere that Peter Kay is a fan.
Also Vic Reeves is a Meat fan |
The evidence is there in the shows. Dead Ringer gets a mention in the first series, in the second series, one of the cast does a Meat impersonation, I think it was young Kenny.
|
Yeah I've said that before. Also on 'Live At The Top Of The Tower' "Bat" plays on an organ in the background before the show starts as the camera pans around the crowd.
|
Bon Jovi, Chilli Peppers
I'm currently doing two night shifts a week at Sainsbury's while I'm at uni and I was drifting off on my last shift about to fall asleep is the asile when, in the background, a Peter Kay CD was playing and he said 'please welcome, Meat Loaf' to which Peter Kay pretended to be the man himself and sang Bat- it did wake me up.
Also I was listening to Talk Sport one night a few years ago and Charlie Wolf said when he was interviewing Jon Bon Jovi one time he said who are r influences and Jon replied with 'I get a lot of stage tips from Meat Loaf, I always ask him about performing on stage'- so there, one rock God taking performance techniques from another. If anyone recalls VH1's 100 greatest men in music Meat came in at number 26 and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers were praising him, saying how his live performances are amazing so he's got more celebrity fans there. |

On the 'That Peter Kay Thing' DVD, the episode about the youngsters working as Ushers at the MEN arena, Peter Kay plays a security guard for the stars, and he mentions Meat Loaf as one of his clients. :D
|
His performances are first class and he comes accross as a really nice man. The Jack Dee thing mentioned I believe comes from TOTP2 last year, totally inappropriate given the circumstances.
truth is once you've seen Meat perform live very little ( if anything ) tops it. |
Peter Kay is a big fan - He isn't registered on here but I believe he visits occasionally (or has done in the past!)
Terry Wogan is a fan of the Steinman penned material. Nell McAndrew is a bit of a fan and apparently has been known to belt out the occasional version of Paradise on karaoke. |
[QUOTE=Space Monkey]Are you sure you weren't hearing the Phoenix Nights DVD where Young Kenny performs 'Bat' on Stars in Their Eyes?
Yup am sure, it was deffos a CD and it was Peter Kay singing Bat Out Of Hell, it must av been some kind of live tour cd or something. |
You are both right!!
It is a CD - "The Very best Of Peter Kay" and it is Young kenny singing Bat. There is currently no Peter Kay CD or DVD of peter singing Bat. |
