3. Heaven Can Wait

This is the START OUT OF HELL & ARRIVE TO HEAVEN topic. Let's Go to Rock 'n' Roll!!!!!!!

Heaven Can Wait (9)

This is the most optimist song of Jim Steinman. The lyrics is wonderful... from the clouds. You can image angels above your head and the beauties of the Earth. You know they are the peace, but God is down here... here on the Earth. You must live here and just after go with them and with Lord... there.
Only one thing. Maybe a woman with angelic voice could sing better this song, because Meat's voice is too strong for this.

My score is: 9

Average: 9.57 (220/23) [07/08/05]

Meat's voice is strong, but it's great how he can handle it. I mean, heaven can wait is a great song. And a gothic girl singing it? Talking of making a mess of a song. I think it's terrible if artists of so called make a song, and it's a cover of a song. Lack of creativity.

So no one should make a cover of Meat Loaf songs.

White of High 24 Jul 2002 21:51

Tim!

You mustn't cover of Meat Loaf song, if you don't want.

I have got nobody who likes Meat Loaf, I don't know what is the opinion to other man about these songs. What does he/she feel when listen the music.

Thanks your goodwill!

3 HEAVEN CAN WAIT

 Heaven can wait by anyone but Meat Loaf?SACRALIDGE.BURN THE NON BELIVERS (or at least make them stand in the corner then send them to bed without any tea). But seriously,my worst dread and deepest fear is I'll wake up one day to find out that a no-talent,manufactured bunch of pretty boys have coverd a Meat Loaf song. Please god no.
Back to the point,Heaven can wait is a great song.

Heaven Can Wait

That a song like Heaven Can Wait can sit on an album alongisde the powerful Bat and fast-paced Paradise shows what a superb album it really is. Steinman's masterpiece hails back to the days of creativity - doing what you really believe in rather than what 'fashion' dictates. Nobody takes risks anymore - who would dare today to begin an album with a fantasy-like crash song, and yet also have an emotinal epic like 2outta3 and 'Heaven' sat in the middle? Meat and Jim produced something that will never be surpassed, and I just can't wait to see the man in action on Monday. And that comes from someone who wasn't even born when Bat was released! (I'm 21)

Amazing song. Everytime I hear it. It's quiet song with a great lyrics.

I like the recording from Nassau Coliseum, because Jim and Meat sing together.

My Score: 8/9

Guppie 19 Jan 2003 22:30

10. It's on my lists of songs, to be heard at my funeral. Along with For Crying out loud. Definately a 10.

HCW is a good song, 'specially the LatW version, when Jimmy plays the piano with the huge solo in the middle.

Meat's version: 8/10
Meat and Jimmy LatW version: 8.5/10
Karla's version: 8.25/10 <- the more uptempo version gives it the edge over Meat's

Testify 23 Jul 2003 13:42

10!! enough said! :D

Terri 23 Jul 2003 16:43

What can I say......I love this song, totally brilliant!

Wonderful memories to that one, brilliant masterpiece. 10/10

"Heaven Can Wait" is just a really great song. I remember when I first purchased "Bat" I'd always find myself skipping over this track for some reason, but once I finally listened to it it became one of my favorite Jim Steinman/Meat Loaf songs. No one but Jim will actually know the true meaning of the song but it's very earthly. I've always thought it was a guy on the brink of death but he's found a female who makes him discover his childlike innocense once again.

10/10
Yeah and hearing Jim play the piano on this..well to quote the man himself "heaven can wait".

Jayd 23 Jul 2003 21:29

How can anyone sing this song better than Meat? Answer: THEY CAN'T, not even possible. May the world burn to a crisp before this happens. This is one of Meat's all time great's and listening to this song shows why life and this world is so precious. Meat, if anyone tries to do a cover of this song, do all you can to stop them, they will destroy a masterpiece.10/10 :D

Such an emotionally moving song - a great one to listen to when your feeling down.

i was listening to this the other night out in the garden. the nieghbours had a disco outside...we aked them to play some Meat Loaf and they played Heaven Can Wait.....it was a still summer evening, with a clear starry skyand this wonderful Meat Loaf song drifting on the night....
Magical....it sounded superb,
( almost forgave them for the disco for playing that for me  )

There is something so wonderful about hearingMeat Loaf's music outside on a still summer evening, no other sound just the music to fill the night....can't beat it

My personal least liked on Bat Out Of Hell. It is so amazing, I love the piano. I liked it when I was a kid, I would have rated it a 7. Now I rate it an 11/10. Making it my least liked on the album. I love his voice here too!

(anything I said on previous votes, about booh album you read of mine. no matter how high the rating, this is the least liked one with 11/10.)

Cpl Mickey 16 Nov 2003 18:29

WOW!! I love this song, it has such wonderful lyrics and Meat sings it so well 10/10

ChrissybabezNI 21 Nov 2003 00:14

I agree no one should cover this song, if anyone did it would not sound right to me. I think Meat sings it perfectly, it is such a beautiful loving song. I like to sing along with this turned up full blast so I cant hear my bad singing.

I give this song 9/10

BadAttitude 22 Nov 2003 03:40

Meat's voice is like hearing an angel sing in "Heaven Can Wait".

I give it a 10/10

LostSoul 30 Dec 2003 01:55

"Heaven..." is not the song I like the less on the album, nevertheless, I don't know why I rarely listen to it... or maybe I know... and I don't want to admit it!!
Don't like to listen to it live - it sounds like Meat's final farewell!!!

8/10 sorry...

Ahem!! You obviously don't know anything about me, or my album "Nature's Siegfried" !!! DOn't worry - there is inspiration left, and it's not just Steinman and Meat Loaf. I will bring it back for you

This is my second favorite, but so close to FCOL that I have to give it a 10/10 as well.

mszee 09 Jul 2006 23:38

Time for...off with her head...don't like this song and don't even know why...not rated...

Jackoutofhell 15 Jul 2006 09:39

Love it, but you know what? My favorite version is that from MSO. So...

Album: 11/10
Live with MSO: 14/10

:D

German Loafer 19 Jul 2006 16:56

I absolutely love this song.
I haven't heard the MSO version since it isn't on the double DVD, but the version he did at Pavarotti and friends is incredilbe!

sunneke 19 Jul 2006 17:04

its such a sad song.... but when i hear it, it makes me think: when i'm really old i don't want to find myself in this song....

Rockette 22 Jul 2006 07:27

The MSO version has got to be my favourite version of this song. But, it was the original version that dragged me back from the edge when I was hovering near death from septicaemia once about two years back. I was in and out of consciousness and hearing it playing in my head each time I returned to the ward. Amazing how that sort of thing can happen.

I really don't like this song. I can understand why others do like it, but it does nothing for me.

Absolutely sublime. Possibly one of the best vocals I've ever heard from Meat. And the whole thing gives me goosebumps. 10
