Personally I would give anything to see them release one of the recent UK shows on DVD .... and hope they follow through with the plan to release one of the Australian shows with the orchestra on DVD / CD. Now that will be amazing !! Vicki |
I thought Mexico was not the best show to be fair - Meat was so ill looking and struggled - at that point he had the throat probs so thats prob why. The vocals were shaky at times - afterall it was a lot of the actual cd version of the song during the remixing - you could tell that one minute it was Meat live, next minute the CD had kicked in - Kasim must have decided to go that road whilst doing his mixing - personally nomatter how Meat was sounding, id raher they hadnt used the CD versions whilst making it into a release and just let in run as it was so to speak. For example the start of CHSIB was pure CD being played over the top of Meat singing live. Testify was the same too. Thats why i dont think mexico should be released as a LIVE DVD unless they take away the remixing and let Meat be heard rather than a CD
|
I Would love for a UK show to be released as well - or even Trier. What I don't understand is we all know Meat records every show as audio (dunno about video) so why isnt more live material released - perhaps Meatloaf.net could let the members of their site download exclusive live tracks or something off the sound board tapes meat keeps - there's an idea!!! He'll have soo much stuff on tape so why not share it with the fans???????????
|
Yes, the Mexican concert was filmed when he was still having problems with his throat ... but I don't think he looked bad at all. And to be perfectly honest with you, I still can't tell if they used live or CD versions of the song ... but I still enjoy watching it :)
I've heard the shows in the UK are a lot better right now ... and yes I would prefer to have them release one of them on a live DVD. You don't know how much I'd love to see him sing DIST or Forever Young just once .... But until Meat decides if and when to do more concerts in the United States, I won't have the chance to see him live again, and to me the Mexican concert is the next best thing. I don't look a gift horse in the mouth so to speak .. and I'll enjoy every minute of it  Vicki |

Its not Kasims fault - he seemingly did what had to be done Anyway, back on topic - come on Meat release some of this amazing footage you have of Germany and UK (and of course Australia has to be recorded too) |

I'll still enjoy it Vicki |
Yeah it was still a great show......just proves how Meats on stage presence over rules everything else

Well, in fact this is quit interesting. I got the feeling that not all the songs during concert were totally live. Some part of CHSIB soundend to me as if they played the cd. Same with testify.

That's very interesting. When I saw him last September, I know they played back the speaking part at the beginning of Testify. But other than that, both songs were definitely live and sounded incredible :)) ChrisNI may be right about the Mexican concert .... but I still can't tell. You'll have to let me know what you think after you see it :) Vicki |

Please explain, because CHSIB sounds 100% live to me. xxx Mariella |
Don't know what show you are talking about Bart, but got allready 4 German shows on cd, and none of them sounded like a playback / original CD version.
|
I do not like this kind of debate but I have to add someting here...
How can anyone doubt about it when you can hear each and every Meat's breath? |
We were in the middle of discussing Mexico concert - so i presume thats the show Bart was talking about. We aren't saying Meat didnt sing the show Live but his voice was poor and Kasim used the CD version of the song in spots to cover up whilst he was mixing - thats whats being said.
As for Meat not singing live - you've misunderstood the whole arguement - of course its all live - but Mexico TV showing used a lot of CD over the top of meats voice at times - how cant you tell Vicki - theres times he was singing but his mouth wasn't moving or times his mouth was moving but there was so sound, watch more closely and pay more attention to the show and you'll see it. Again for the last time - what is being said is that Meat did the whole show live but at times his voice was rough so during Mixing they substituted his voice with the CD. CHSIB is so so so so so obvoius |

ps: sometimes I need a little translation  |

Now if they just listen to us and release one of the current European shows on DVD .... that would be fantastic  Vicki |

maybe I'm too demanding... hmmm... |
No, LostSoul, I really don't see anything 'demanding' about that!

Sometimes you can find all of them listed on Ebay. Vicki |
 There's also the original Hits Out Of Hell vid with the Dead Ringer vid, and the Classic Albums Bat Out Of Hell documentery.
I know Bad Attitude, Bat II, HOOH, are out of print. I don't know if Classic Albums is still available. Meat Loaf live can still be found in shops. |

I think its insane that they havent released a REAL Meat Loaf show on DVD, after all these monster tours throughout the years. Im sure most people who saw Meat would want some sort of keep sake. They just HAVE to release a live DVD from the CHSIB tour! - if not we must take to the streets and protest! Lol! Would prefer them release a UK arena show or the proposed show with the orchestra in Australia.
Wish i could see this Mexico show now to hear and see what you guys are talking about! I wouldnt blame Meat if he wanted support from a backing track every now and then (you hear the CD version of CHSIB kick in for only a few words on the bonus disk recording thats comes with the Australian version of the album)... actually thought it was quite a neat effect - Meat singing to his own backing vocal for a few seconds! Of course, Meat, you could always do the sensible thing and slow down, do fewer shows, play bigger venues (let us come to you), stop letting yourself become the victim of crazy tour schedules (UK 2003/2004 zig zagging the British Isles instead of playing the same venue for a few nights in a row like any other performer would - and save yourself the trauma of travelling...) some would say quality not quantity? - least you'd be taking better care of YOUR health. Take care, Ewan |
Hi, I am a lucky girl! for my birthday and christmas this week I got 2 meat loaf dvd's one of which was the Storytellers. I can't help but observe (with apologies to our american users) that it may have worked better with a UK audience. Perhaps I am a little biased but the members of the audience seemed a little reserved, whereas UK fans may have let themselves go a bit more. All the same it is good and Meat is wonderful and relaxed in it. Happy New Year to you all. :D

and play ALL the shows there! I'll be there... in the front row... for a month! 8) |
I managed to drop on a copy of the Bat II video in MVC a few years since, there was only a couple of copies, so got one while I could. Am still looking around for the storytellers DVD

I would have to highly agree with Chris on this matter. It is definatley NOT live when I hear Meat's voice, but don't see lips move. I highly doubt Meat was using "tracks" while performing on stage (only Fire Ball would know the real answer to this), but the Mexico show was highly "fixed" - ain't no doubt about it! What I witness when I popped in the video did not decieve me, I heard Meat Loaf singing when there were close-ups on him and his lips were not moving. ROCK ON STUDIO FIXES!!! |

And your ears too :D On CHSIB, the very 1st line of the song, listen to it and tell me that u seroiusly cant hear the cd version of the opening line to CHSIB, to me it should be obvoius especially if you listen to both Live and CD versions of CHSIB

and, as much as I hate to admit it, you were right, and I was wrong  Dammit ... I'm getting old. Now I have to go out and get glasses and a hearing aid 8O :) Vicki |
Its strange Vicki, its not great chunks of the song, just occasinal lines and sometimes it could easily go unnoticed
|
After it was pointed out to me, I listened again with my ear-phones on...and yes. You are right, I was wrong!
I think it must have been added later. xxx Mariella |

When i listen to some recordings from the shows in Germany, i hear the second verse of CHSIB ( i believe it was in frankfurt, not sure) and i immediately got the feeling that it was not live. Same story with the seccond or third verse in Testify.
But Meat still got all the 4 octaves. Paradise live in Oberhausen: After deep dark nite he sings loud the way he does it many times. Paradiiiiise and then louder by the daaaash and then louder booaaaaard and then octave higher and very very loud: liiiight. O djeeeez very very good. 8) About the Mexican concert: i think its a shame. it is ridicilous. Why he overdubt some parts? Jesus, it makes me angry. A true born artist, a beast on stage is overdubbing a live concert. It is ri-di-ci-lous!! |
