On opening of mlukfc first page, "I'm seeing Flash or HTML continue", I know what this means, but why?

Can't be that. This website went up in July 1999. I remember because it was finished just 3 days before I finished the Peat Loaf site :mrgreen:

More likely that the fan club itself is 6 years old today.

Well I've been a member of the Meat Loaf Fan club since 1986, one way or another, various organisers have taken over the reins during that time :? Maybe it could be this present fan club originally run by Anne, and then Diane?

Is there a new opening page as well? Something appears to move upwards (numbers?) and sort of flashes red.

Got it R.'s been busy, click on anything at the top of the page, and the word Meat Loaf 'flies' upwards, I've either completely gone mad, or am imagining the No. 6., The Prisoner isn't around is he? Patrick McGoohan remember him :??:

My god.... i was shocked... really shocked.... What in the hell has happened to the old MLUKFC site that i liked so much???? What the hell is going on.

It really sucks. Not easy to find things, no nice colors. I mean.... this is really terrible. R.... How in the hell have you done this, hope this is an error and that you will change it back real soon!!!

I for one do not like the changes, and i'm not going to pretend i do.
Whilst i understand the need for change and improvement, it has now lost it's lovely uniqueness.
I loved the opening page...loved all the graphics....and the twiddleyBat
The graphics added to the sites individuality and uniqueness....it made it different from the average website and really grabbed the attention.
I loved the fact it was simple and straight forward to find your way around

The NEW lurid yellow background detracts from the print....it is too overpowering....the black background was much easier on the eyes.The new opening page does not grab the attention or have the same appeal.

I dont mean to come across nasty or anything like that and if i seems that way i apologise, but Tim did you really have to voice your opinion in a manner such as this? i mean did you have to seem so nasty, ok u dont like it but did u have to say it the way you did?

There's a lot on the front page to take in. It jumps out at you, kinda too much. I think the colour is terrible, maybe a different colour background would look better. One thing I do not like on the front page is where the survey is. Fan~~~~ingtastic??? Definitly should not be there. I don't think there is a need for the language on the front page of what is an excellent website.

I really like the colour, I think it has depth and warmth.
I am much happier without the side bar on the forum.

Whoa! wasn't online yesterday so got a bit of a shock. v cool, bit unsure of the colour so am gonna try changing it in a min. think it's cool. and i'm sure, given time, that i will find my way around! got a bit confused, jen and testify had to guide me around (what would i do without them?), but then i'm always confused!

It still is to painfull to see!!! For me the frontpage represented some quality of a great page. But now it looks cheap, dirty and disgusting!!!

Not to be an asshole, but if you make a page you must look at certain things.... for example, the way that people use the page, the lay out, etc. Here you can see that there are points that this page don't have!!!

We're all creatures of habit and I know from my own experiences, change can at first seem very daunting.

On first impression I thought the new layout was great but it took me a little while to get used to and find my way around the new improved version (Btw anyone who knows me, knows my sense of direction ain't great and I'm always getting lost :roll: but thats just me :lol: )

Now I've become more familiar with the new layout.......I think it's great 8) ......Well done R........Nice one!!!!!!! :D

I have installed another skin for the frontpage.
Use either the bat top right corner to cycle through the themes or select it from the drop down menu.

Yes i tried... but i was shocked.... I isn't...euh... how do you say that... You can't see it in one eye flash... I think it is not orderly. It is hard to find you way into it. The menu on the left in the forums disappeared, all those little things what made the MLUKFC so nice to browse and look at, are disappeared. That is hard.

I'm only giving my opinion about it.... I know you work hard on the site, i appreciate it much... But if everybody is telling you that it is good, that is strange... i mean... offcourse everybody has his own toughts about it. Well, these are mine.

You have more space now for the forum & website content.
So basically you are saying that navigating through the forum is more difficult now?

Back to the main site.
Regarding immediate information perception, there's surely an improvement. The latest 5 articles or news are available immediately on the frontpage, there is no need to click on a link anymore. Did you notice that all information, which was spread on numerous pages and links on the old site, is now available using one link, the topic link?

So - in my eyes - it basically breaks down into two parts:
1. The latest news on the frontpage. If you are just interested in that, you have everything by just entering the site.
2. Older stuff can be found under topics. I can't make it much easier.

And finally, all static links like the gallery and the faqs are listed separetely. Quit easy to go there, imho.

And yes - some of the graphic gimmicks are gone as of now. But that does not mean, they're gone forever.
The 'flying' bat (as an example) will return soon.

And perhaps I'll find a way to bring some (just some, not all) mlukfc-specials back.
I'm not finished yet. Be patient.

And in the meantime, surf and give the site a chance.

Personally I think that the people who are not very good in computers like the navigation of the website. I think it is very simple and easy.

The theme setting is stored in a cookie on your computer.
Try this:

(1) Empty youor browsers cache (Temporary Internet Files)
(2) Delete the mlukfc.com/site cookie or all cookies.

I really like the grey - restful :D

Woah! 8O God, I go away for a couple of days and everythings changed! 8O Gave me a shock.
I like the new lay out. Much easier to navigate but I'm not sure about the mustard yellow. Tried it on the blue and that looks a little better. Grey was just boring. But i reckon I can get used to it. So overall good job R.

Well, I ahve to say that after palying for a few days, i definitly prefer the new layout!!

The main advantage is in getting rid of those blooming bars formt he forums!! I always used to have to link straight to the forum page in order to avoid them appearing!!!

I have to disagree Chris,
I had a link to the forum,with the bars, saved to "favourites"...i am still, through choice using that link.Apart from being nice to look at ,to me it gives "a sense of place" to the forum.
Without it, yes there is more space...so?...but it is cold and uninviting.
Few, if any , will share my opinion of that i'm well aware.
To me, part of the enjoyment of coming to MLUKFC, was that as well as being an excellent site,and providing all the facts and information, it was also visually a nice place to visit.It was like entering a different little world/environment..that added to the pleasure of coming here.
Now, ...yes the information is all there and accessible, but i find the new layout, stark, cold, factual and uninviting.To ME, it no longer has the visual appeal and therefore has lost that special something that set it apart.
This is just my opinion ,i am biased because i love all the graphics and to me the more artistic the layout is the more it appeals to me.
Each to his own

I have no doubt i will get used to it in time,and i do love this site.
