BRAVER - WHAT'S IN THE BAG THREAD

If it isn't 'all the evil in the world' (ala Pandora's Box), then it has to be the spirit or the 'soul' of rock n' roll (how else you gonna fight the four horse-bikers of the apocalypse/music industry!).

That's my take, anyhow. I could've asked Jim ... but that'd just be cheating!

Good topic! Well there seems to be some green smoke coming out of it, so it's gotta be some sort of spirit gun.

I'm still trying to work out who you are :P

Who 'I' am?? Literally? Or metaphorically? I'm not sure I can help with the second one (even on the best of days).

proctorloaf 09 Sep 2016 17:11

literal would be fine :)

I'm a writer from the UK. I met Jim several years ago and - for reasons I won't get into here (because, honestly, who really wants to hear about my shit anyway?) - I'm indebted to him forever. I'm involved in some capacity with the BAT musical, but I can't post about that yet. It all started as a 'favour in kind' (my writing for yours), and I guess Jim liked my stuff and my approach (and my work ethic) enough to trust me with -- well, what he trusted me with.

In a nutshell, that's it

AndrewG 09 Sep 2016 17:46

It's the green kryptonite secret crystal of symphonic rock music no one else has and allows you to make music no one else can make. It started it's life as a small green splinter and was very weak. But it grew and grew when it was past down through generations of musicians over millennia, gaining its strength.

Bruce Springsteen had it for a while in the 70s when it was close to its ultimate strength but was then past down to Jim and Meat and they have had it ever since.

They borrow it from each other from time to time as they are the best of friends.

But when they work together the secret crystal harnesses the power of Meat and Jim's friendship and then it burns the brightest it will ever burn in the universe and it unlocks its magical music powers...

proctorloaf 09 Sep 2016 22:39

I'm going to see the Bat musical 8 times in Manchester so far, so I'm look gin forward to your work :)

ThatWriterGuy 09 Sep 2016 23:04

I won't be at Manchester (at least, 'as of now') but I will be at the London showing at some point (Jim also won't be at Manchester - 'as of now, subject to change').

proctorloaf 09 Sep 2016 23:08

Jim's said that he will be in Manchester on Facebook, but I'm taking everything with a pinch of salt (i work in the UK theatre industry) woop woop!

When was this? Last he told me he wasn't going to be there, only London.

Danny L 10 Sep 2016 00:15

If I enjoy Manchester I will seriously consider a last minute trip to the London show before it leaves the country.

Cheap ticket and a Travelodge. TWG do you know what nights you're there? PM me

Also they are casting RIGHT NOW so I was told yesterday. Not literally. They're probably all up west getting pissed.

Sounds like the Pick of Destiny. ;)

Bruce had that briefly, too, only he didn't know what he had, so he tossed it into the audience one night; some kid named Eddie (as in Van Halen) caught it, and the rest is history.

EUREKA!
I've got it. Here I am killing time whilst little miss chairboys is dancing and I'm blasting out Braver in the car.
The Cd case is resting on the steering wheel back to front and the answer jumped out at me unintentionally.
The green ooze is a person and it's so blooming obvious considering who we are dealing with.
It is HOOK!
The hand is visible.
Honestly.

The one that's not a hand!

Second guess Peter Pan

CarylB 12 Sep 2016 21:29

I still think it's magic ;) But given what Meat has said about the horsemen representing the music industry, I think that bag contains what the duo need to stand up to and vanquish them .. could be the songs, Meat's drive, or as I see it, the magic they create and have to stand firm and deliver their vision, their way, break the mould, and sod the lot of them!! ;)

I reckon it's gotta to be the mythical bat from bat out of hell (or happy bob)

I even see elements from the very best of cover, deep in the background, a truly brilliant piece of cover art.

Does look like a body of some sort.
I see boobies. 😉

letsgotoofar 12 Sep 2016 22:19

I'm surprised no one's thought of this idea, but if the four bikers of the Apocalypse are meant to represent the record industry, couldn't what's in the bag be the album?

It's the 'something magic...' As referred to in Rock n' Roll Dreams. Or the Rock n Roll Dreams that come through. Or maybe the something special for the kid under the covers in Wisconsin?

AndrewG 12 Sep 2016 23:41

To save the world from armageddon through the power of Meat & Jim's music I'm guessing it's either:

* A magic microphone for Meat
* Or a magic Meat handkerchief
* Or a magic amplifier for Jim's guitar.

If it is a mic stand, either it's a fold up one or the suitcase itself is magic like Mary Poppins' bag.

R. 13 Sep 2016 18:41

Although one of the recent replies is pointing in the right direction.

ThatWriterGuy 13 Sep 2016 18:57

I'll adapt my original guess and say that it's the songs, or the music itself.

Dick 13 Sep 2016 19:37

Im gonna guess its Meat's soul/Meatness/drive (as caryl said) and he is with Jim ready to face down what ever they have ahead.

Part of me thinks the cover is as much metaphorical as it is literal. Given this is Meat's last one could view the cover as Jim and Meat at the end of the road looking back and preparing to face their own legacy before they move on to whatever lies ahead.

AndrewG 13 Sep 2016 19:51

The souls of Meat's fans?
He needs them to defeat the four horsemen of the music industry along with Jim's music.

"From my heart to your soul, thank you very very much."...

I believe the clue is here.
It is someone or something pointing the way.

chairboys 14 Sep 2016 13:36

My final proposal.
It's the BAT?

R. 14 Sep 2016 14:09

No, no and no.

chairboys 14 Sep 2016 14:23

I'm out!

madagascar 14 Sep 2016 14:25

For me the suitcase is the Pandora's Box, which containes all the evils of the world.

Edit: Eventually Jim & Meat opened it, and all the evils flew out, leaving only "Hope" inside once they had closed it again.

Mr. Happy 14 Sep 2016 16:37

Is it an erection of the heart? :))

Meat Loaf_fan 14 Sep 2016 17:54

Maybe souls of his loyal fans? In other words - something which could help fighting with the four horsmen (on motorcycles).

R. 14 Sep 2016 21:09

:nope:

Cult Of Byron 14 Sep 2016 21:22
