Group meetup? Is there a coffee shop right near?

jmfreeman 05 Aug 2016 16:00

I'll be there! Travelling down on my own, so if any similarly lonesome folk feel like meeting up or keeping me company in the queue, get in touch. Otherwise, here's wishing you all a good time.

Like I said we could all meet up beforehand? There's a Pret a Manger right around the corner on Davies St.

Is this one where you have to line from 6am or because we've purchased are we fine?

Danny L 05 Aug 2016 16:42

Also will we be allowed to have a picture with Meat?

jcmoorehead 05 Aug 2016 16:57

Unfortunately not as I'll be back to work that day up here in Edinburgh after the convention I'm going to so there isn't even the slightest possibility :(

Guess my wait to meet Meat will go on :P

This is something I'm waiting to find out Danny - I've asked the store if they can give me a rough idea. I'm heading down in the afternoon so if we have to queue early, that won't leave much time. Hopefully it won't come to that though...

I hope so, that's why I am going but I've realised this isn't mention. They say he is signing the CD sleeve but we won't receive the Cd until the day after in the post. Unless this is a mistake.

I'm up for meeting before hand Pret may be a bit small though especially as it's around rushhour.

I've been trying to upload an avatar pic to my profile so I'm identifiable but I appear to be rubbish at locating how to do this.

Mr Flibble 05 Aug 2016 17:52

Done it :)

BTW I don't think you need to queue, there is a fast track option to queue jump but as it's limited to 300 I think everyone will get seen.

Vickip 05 Aug 2016 18:22

Unfortunately it's too far for me to travel from the US :D But I hope that everyone who can make it has an amazing time !

Yes cause it would not be chart eligible if it was sold on Thursday, well it would but the sales would go to the next day chart.

If I hadn't unexpectedly lost my job last month, I might have been there. My wife loves London. But for now it's wiser to keep my hand on the wallet

I don't think there's anything wrong with that is there? A gay bar is a thing in Canada too, doesn't mean anything derogatory as far as I know :-P

Hmm, I'm on the fence. I think I'll hold out hope for a similar event up North or save my money for gig tickets. Love Meat but a long road trip just to get a booklet signed is hard to justify when I've already met him and got a photo at one before.

I've just got my ticket for meats signing at HMV, was supposed to be meeting Mick Rock in London on the 8th; but luckily he has just postponed until the 9th now. Travelling down from south Wales to meet both of them

Call me crazy, but I am flying over from Austria to make a dream come true and finally meet our Rock n Roll hero (for about 10 seconds and maybe a pic, if I am really lucky)! :D

First off, welcome to the neighbourhood!!!

With regards to the signing, if previous is anything to go by you're about right with the ten seconds and photo's with the man are bloody rare

He did a CD signing in Austin, TX yesterday, so I guess anything's possible :-)

NightAngel 06 Aug 2016 07:39

You have no idea how much I almost did....until I noticed you had to be a resident of UK....otherwise it was game on! I was prepared to fly over to the UK for a day! :)

Were you seriously gonna do it?! You know I'd have got your tickets! Probably the sensible choice though, we've got road trips to plan! X

tonyloaf 06 Aug 2016 12:33

And you really do only get 10 seconds.

Guy you mean the security that did not want me to take my picture to be signed :)

LucyK! 06 Aug 2016 12:41

Hopefully with the event being limited numbers they might calm down and not be so keen to rush people through...the signings I did back in 2003 were great as ML was allowed to get on and do what he wanted, for however long he wanted, they were so relaxed.

Ben 06 Aug 2016 12:50

If anyone by chance happens to have a spare ticket then please let me know! I was working until 21:00 yesterday and had no access to Internet or no idea these tickets were being made available. Money and my eternal gratitude awaiting!! :)

chansadres 06 Aug 2016 13:06

I was at the HCTB signing in the Netherlands. Great that they sell the tickets now! Then it was just horrible. Meat had an hour. But the line was twice as long, so a lot of people couldn't get a autograph. And the 10 seconds is right. I was lucky, because there were some press, who wanted to photograph and do some tv shots. But the time they were setting up, it was my turn so I got 5 minutes with him. If I was one earlier or later, it would been 10 seconds. So if you wanna say something to him, rehearse the shit out of it. My wife wanted to say something and she only said "Uhm blah, ha jah". In such short time frame you must do it right the first time ;)

Also take 1 person with you to photograph. At our signing he didn't do photographs because he got limited time. So I got real close at the signing and my wife took a lot of photograps and just hoping one is great. I got lucky because she got a photo where you see him talking to me and looking me in the eyes.

LucyK! 06 Aug 2016 13:24

My biggest "complaint" from the last one was that the music was too loud and the table was too deep, so ML couldn't hear a single word anyone was saying to him, we ended up screaming at each other!

But hey...it's likely to be the last time we're doing this so let's just have fun and enjoy :)

JennaG 06 Aug 2016 13:46

I decided against going to this one.

One of my main concerns was the cost of attending and when I combined the price of the album that we were required to purchase to be able to attend together with the cost of getting there, it pushed it a little bit out of my budget for this moment in time. :(

I was so disappointed in HMV's handling of the last signing that I didn't really think I could justify paying to attend this one. Saying that though, I'm glad that the opportunity was there for those that wanted to take it and I sincerely hope that everyone who does go enjoys themselves.

I seriously was... I think by the time i spoke to you it was sold out. You know I'm never sensible but you are right we have road trips to plan!! it'd be crazy to fly 24 hours for 10 seconds... wouldn't it?!😃 you know me!!

That's why I'm going - I've never been to an album signing before and I've always wanted to meet Meat properly.

I should be on Oxford St around 4.30pm, delays pending so I should have an hour and a half to kill but afterwards I may have to dash onto the train! Would love to meet some of you guys!!

The event is for 300 people and you need to pre-order with the unique number to gain entry.

(I just replied to this on my phone and hit the wrong button, so sorry if you've received this as PMs or emails!! Oops!)

welshman1976 07 Aug 2016 19:24

Im going Lucy. Good timing as I was supposed to be meeting Mick rock on the 8th in London; but he's postponed it until the 9th, so get to do both now, and meet meat again :-)

Event runs from 1800 - 2100, some time before that I'll be in The Running Horse pub @ 50 Davies St, London W1K 5JE (five mins from HMV).

Please don't put this on FB event page lol

If there's any delay would it be rude of me to tell a worker about the train situation?

Mr Flibble 09 Aug 2016 12:08

I'm going by coach in the morning as it's cheaper so I'll be around most of the afternoon to meet up with anyone :)

I'll look at Coaches actually, thanks for the reminder

EDIT: Looked and it's cheaper for me just to take the train :D

welshman1976 09 Aug 2016 16:58

We were at Coach & Horses in Poland St, that is some distance from where this signing is, either they've moved HMV or that pub was a hell of a lot further away than I remember lol. The Running Horse pub is literally round the corner minutes away from HMV.

Don't worry, nearer the time we usually get our act together and make these important life changing decisions. Bigger question is what time does it close for after the signing!!

Cant wait for the whole train system to become completely automated. Hope no one has trouble getting there next week.

September 8 at 7pm, photographer Martin Hausler is to launch an exhibition featuring his work at London's Sanctum Soho hotel, which will include photos of Meat. Meat is quoted as saying " This man is one of the greatest photographers of all time. If you miss it, you are wrong." Might he make an appearance on the opening night after the signing?

The Martin Häusler Sanctum Soho Photography Takeover

Thursday 8th September – Thursday 13th October 2016

German portrait photographer Martin Häusler brings the latest installation of his works to London with The Martin Häusler Sanctum Soho Photography Takeover, which opens on Thursday 8th September for a 5-week residence.

Following successful exhibitions in Stuttgart, Los Angeles and his home town of Heidelberg, this latest collection will showcase Häusler’s works and feature British talent including the late Lemmy Kilmister of Motörhead captured at his favourite Los Angeles hangout, a world first unveiling of a 3D life size print of Queen’s Brian May plus other international artists from the world of music, acting and entertainment.

With Häusler having shot the album photography for Meat Loaf’s upcoming album ‘Braver Than We Are’ (out in the UK on Friday 9th September), there will also be exclusive prints from the shoot on display to mark the release.

Sanctum Soho Hotel provides a natural setting for the Häusler’s debut exhibition in London, with both music and imagery being at the very heart of the hotel’s décor and ambience.

The installation will be opened with a launch event on Thursday 8th September at 7.00pm, which invited guests are welcome to attend and members of the public will be able to enjoy the works from that same evening, with prints located throughout the hotel in the lobby, restaurant/bar and roof terrace. There is no admission charge for visitors wishing to view the prints.
