Has Meat gone?
Bearing in mind what Meat said on Facebook, following the death of Robin Williams, I guess he's decided not to come here anymore. :(
|
I wouldn't worry, Meat regularly takes his vacations from here, tends to find his way home after a while.
|
He's discovered Facebook as well, which is a great way to get his messages out to over a million fans, and he usually responds on there to many people. I've noticed he's on here less even when he is here, but that's ok. I'm excited that he's found multiple avenues to reach everyone online. It's very cool!
|
And right now he doesn't seem to have time for posting on the internet . presumably working very hard on the album. I think the last time he posted on his FB page was in the immediate aftermath of Robin Williams' death

Over a year on and still no sign of him. I guess he really has gone then. Shame. :(

Chairboys!!!
Hello :0) |
If he were on here now he'd be deluged with questions about the album. I'd prefer he concentrate on the recording and pop in if he wishes when he has something he can talk about.
|
Exactly...Last thing he needs is to feel all stresesd out because of all the people commenting on their decisions. He's such an empathetic person it effects him a lot, he wants everyone to be as happy as possible....I know because I'm like that. So im glad hes taking some space...I hope he does what he feels is right and what his muse and those close to him tell him and reveal it in it's complete form :-) It'll be perfect.

Meat Loaf needs to stay off of the internet.
Hire a PR person to post on internet forums, Facebook, etc... Every time he posts I think less of him. This past year of him not being here has made me forget how childish he can be. |

But as a person I wonder what is wrong with guy at times. Like his last rant on fb. It was incoherent, not factual and quite low standard. And so were a few of his replies to other fb users. If anything Meat seems low educated when he gets loose. He need better management from preventing him to go there, imo. Then again, we might see a lot of Meat the coming year and a half. Now that his idiotic buddy runs for President. I listened to his speech and it was as incoherent as it was stupid. Meat could be his VP :D |

These are the kind of people that rant and rave about how everything should be better in the USA for Americans but at the same time will employ poor Mexicans to build their hotels and buy cheap parts from China to build them with. They are in fact often the source of the exact problems which have been created. Luckily all those republicans stand no chance against Hilary Clinton. |

I feel it could've been put nicer but at the same time some of it is true but when it comes down to it the post was a tad harsh. This is coming from someone who has been on the broad side before and it almost ruined me emotionally. Still love meat no matter what. |

However I think don't think it's right to let someone get away with the stuff that they post just because I like their music. IMO his posts can border on immature, and they tend to make me think less of him. Quote:
ML is a human being like everyone else. Therefore subject to criticism like anyone else when he makes himself look like a fool. |

I don't really care about his opinions or his political leanings, it's more his vitriolic responses to people here and in other social media. It actually amazes me that fans defend it. I never saw anything like that AT ALL until I came to this forum and saw that side to ML. In all honesty he has a right to do that, but I also have the right to think less of him because of it. |

As a newbie here...and I know this board has a long history, obviously. Sometimes I read things said and I wonder if I am on a fan site...i believe that everyone has a right to say what they want but at times it can be stated differently. I think theres a way of giving constructive criticism ..perhaps sometimes things are personal and should not be said at all.
I also understand that we do react to things that are said...i wont fault a person for a reaction. We're all human...sometimes i wonder if we expect others to be super human though and without fault. I doubt that is possible for any one. Ill say this. I have a great respect for Meat as a performer and as a person and a human being like i do for everyone. I also have a huge respect for all that he has achieved in his life. I generally do have a huge respect for a person who has worked hard, done so much and given so much to so many people. I work in a different area all together but I would be over the moon if i can ever do so much for people in my line of work. I try to remember that whenever i think very critically of anyone. |

As you say Meat is human too. Which means he has feelings. So why not take that into account when you post. |

If you had posted that about me I would be offended because it is offensive. |

I've had several run ins with Meat too and I'd like think we were both equally wrong and argumentative at times. Sure Meat deserves specific respect as he is the artist after all but I think everyone (including Meat) must take written word with a pinch of salt. It is very easy to read things out of context and take things the wrong way. And also as several mods often pointed out perhaps re-read your message and think about what you are trying to achieve before pressing "Submit Reply". Interestingly all my PMs have only ever been positive with everyone on this board so I guess the opinion based posting can often come across as much more negative than people really are around here. I guess people often think quickly that people are ganging up on them and you can feel like a victim and this includes Meat. Sure I've seen Meat post bad things but I've also seen him post the most honest and heartfelt posts of any artist I can think of. :-) Repeatedly he has acknowledged the privileged position he has been and thanked everyone and also acknowledged his mistakes or problems. Quite humbling I think. With regards to this hiatus I think he just wanted to focus on work and stop giving away too many secrets about the new album. That's all I remember from his last posts from last year anyway. |
Andrew, you say:

You also say Quote:
Like you, I think his absence is largely due to his focus on other things, and because he has said he would give no more information out about the album, and as someone pointed out earlier he would be besieged by questions if he did appear which he may not be in a position to answer, or may not wish to. |
ALso think we should be thankful he even WAS here. Most artists wouldnt take the time of day.
|
I guess when an artist gets so close to he's fanbase, shit will happen. Pros and cons as such.
|
Quote:
As Warrio says, most artists don't invest time and attention in getting as close to their fanbase. That alone to me makes it worth treating him with respect .. even perhaps a little more care, because we know he is sensitive (as are many human beings) and it is rather special that Meat cares to and has made that effort :-) |

But the same stuff just gets posted and posted and posted, so what's the point? |
Enough :lock:
