Christmas Album (Hot Holidays) to be recorded in March

meat is fine today and it looks like we have confirmation on the starting process a little record that was set on the back burner in our minds since HIAHB's release! I can see a Hot Holidays board on here very very soon.

If meat tours HIAHB in the fall, maybe an Xmas song or two will pop up.

Excellent news, could definitely expect it for late this year then.

don't know about this proving Meat is 'fine today' since that quote could've easily been given before the Loose Women interview.

Anyway, still hoping he's ok and that the christmas album does well. I think he's right to play down expectations a little.

I agree.

Normally I hate Christmas albums and anything to do with Christmas but I'm quite looking forward to hearing what Meat comes up with.

melon 02 Mar 2012 12:55

I tend to steer away from anything christmas related these days, but this will be a "Must Buy" :D

duke knooby 02 Mar 2012 13:23

Thanks for posting the link Wario. Same here .. right now I'm looking forward to the US version of HIAHB, live DVD, and possible upcoming shows :-) I seriously doubt I'll hear Meat sing Christmas songs here in the States this summer  ... but it'll be something to look forward to later on ;)

I'm just the opposite (not very fashionable to not be cynical these days, I know). Can't wait to have the addition of some seasonal Meat Loaf tunes to the mix.

RSG 03 Mar 2012 10:11

This may give Patti a opportunity to have a single of her own on this given record. I like to think it would. Her voice is so good!

DazLoaf01 03 Mar 2012 11:48

Hopefully this will be like Twisted Sister's "A Twisted Christmas" album... that rocked!

I'm sure I read somewhere that the media aren't interested in a Meat Loaf album unless the title has "hell"in it somewhere...

I like the idea of "A Christmas from hell"

melon 07 Mar 2012 01:22

A Hellish Christmas

RSG 07 Mar 2012 04:25

Hang Cool Rudolph, It's Christmas (In Hell)

With each band member's face on a reindeer. Mr. Loaf with a Santa hat and a Chuck Berry red stratocastor in the back of his sleigh.

GDW 07 Mar 2012 11:48

Happy Hellidays.:-)

A Slice Of English 07 Mar 2012 12:23

I reckon Meat could do one hell of a version of "It'll Be Lonely This Christmas".

LucyK! 07 Mar 2012 13:09

In a way I'm strangely looking forward to this...on paper I don't think the idea works at all and it's not the kind of thing I'd ever buy, so I'm quite looking forward to seeing what on earth it is that Mr Loaf has up his long red coat sleeve!

RSG 07 Mar 2012 17:57

I just had a thought, Patti singing O Silent Night!

LucyK! 07 Mar 2012 18:49

Did you mean Silent Night or O Holy Night? The second being one of my favourite Christmas songs ever, which Patti would do a phenominal job of!

so did i:D, but it was just me and her [ singing of course ]

loaferman61 07 Mar 2012 20:05

"oh Holy Night" is the gold standard of Christmas songs for great vocalists. Thus far I think John Berry did the best version I have heard, but I'd love to hear what Meat could do with. I think around 1987 especially Meat would have been amazing on that song, maybe he can be today as well.

RSG 07 Mar 2012 21:23

Silent night, holy night. All is calm, all is bright. I can hear it thunderous in a way when she work wit TSO "Beethoven's Last Christmas" something to that effect.

Maybe Paul O'Neill could produce something for the album?

RSG 07 Mar 2012 22:30

That would be enchanting in a sense that Back Into Hell and Prize Fighter and Elvis In Vegas are/is. And one of the things I associate with Christmas is sleepy eyes and christmas lights!

Sue K 07 Mar 2012 22:44

I'm very much looking forward to owning a Christmas album Meat's recorded. I hope there's some traditional songs on it. I think O Holy Night would be an excellent choice. It's a fave of mine. I have a cd of the radio show Meat and the band did at a children's hospital, I believe it was, where Christmas songs were sung. The sound isn't real clear on it and it will be terrific to have a nice studio album of Meat singing Christmas tunes. It will go right in rote next December with my Garth Brooks Christmas cds. I think it's nice to have albums of your faves singing traditional Christmas songs. Yes... something really wonderful for me to which to look forward !!! ... :D ...

Either one would be awesome to hear by Patti.
I'm guessing the album will have some classics and some untraditional holiday songs too.

I would like Steinman to write a x-mas song for this album. Imagine Steinman writing for a holiday album.

I was pleasantly surprised to learn the song Cry To Heaven sung by Meat was a Steinman song... It's a gentle, lovely piece... I could see a Steinmen penned song on a holiday album if done in similar style ...

Are you kidding me no! I am talking about Hot Holidays, a night cold winter night of passion and the kind of pleasure that you get from burning from the waist up!

Not that gentle soothe stuff its gotta get you hot and heavy to keep that california wind chill away.

Take you out of the frying pan and into the fireeeeeeeeeeeeee!

The Flying Mouse 21 Aug 2012 20:51

 If Steinman was involved, i'd like the worlds most extreme Christmas disaster song

evil nickname 21 Aug 2012 21:56

The lyrics of Steinman's Speaking in Tongues (nothing on YouTube, it seems) are quite Christmassy:

Quote:

It's the time to start a fire
And I know we'll make it good
We're overflowing with desire
You got the spark — I got wood

Now the mighty oak's a christmas tree
Ornaments and balls are so well hung
It's time that we start speaking in tongues
Speaking in tongues
