Keys
Somewhere on here I read about the keys, the keys are fine , I have said I have dry throat and the Climate in Australia is very very dry which made it harder . The keys are fine just listen to some 2011 you tubes before I went there and did 90 interviews and stayed in that dry climate. The AFL was not not great but not bad bad enough to be boiled in oil. and hung on a tree. I disagree with that key statement. The are fine 95% of the time and the way I sing lower keys make it harder to sing. It doesn't make any difference anymore . I'm done. I will finish the DVD and finish the album ... Perth was my last show . I can't fight anymore.

You have all our support!! please dont let anyone knock you back! Stay strong! and as you tell US "NEVER STOP ROCKIN!!"

I'm the first to admit I know f**k all about music generally lol, so i'd be interested to know if the songs off HCTB and HIAHB are sung in a lower key or not. I don't know if they are or not, I only know that what I hear seems to be far easier for you to sing than some of your classics. Of course i could be talking complete bollocks and you have every right to tell me I am! |
Meat if you do quit we love you!!!! ............... also you can still come round for tea! :)

Thank you all for being great fans all these years. Time to move on !!

Wish you could have heard their comments!!! Nothing but praise and huge smiles!!! We love ya Meat!!!!

Meat please reconsider. Don't toss in the towel. Not this way....you need to finish on YOUR terms. Please don't have a knee jerk reaction. Talk it out with us. :(

Whatever you'll do, you have my support... Whatever you're plans are in the future, if you decide to quit with music i will respect you for it. But...honestly...i would think it's a shame cause i never get the chance to see you live anymore... I love u and if you're decided to quit or not...Remember what u all told us...Never ever stop rocking !!!!!!!!! XXX

Meat, please for the love of God DO NOT Quit! You are an icon, a legend, and a role model to so many, including myself. Your music has touched all of us. You have so many amazing fans who will stand by your side through anything. I would love all these stupid arseholes who spew out BS to shut up. Believe they will once something else distracts their small minds.
Meat focus on the positive. Your vocals are amazing, I saw a YT clip from s show a couple of weeks ago of RRD, you sounded spectacular. You give the best damn concerts this World has ever seen. Please don't quit, and these stupid comments will stop! "You can't dwell on it. You can't dwell on any of it." Regards, Sebastian |

I can't believe that Meat would end his career this way? He has so much more to give. I think he's just feeling bad about the negativity around his last few shows and who can blame him, im sure none of us would enjoy getting flack for the work we do? All I will say is that If Meat is serious then i would love to a proper goodbye, maybe a big show somewhere? hopefully in the UK?
|
The German fans want to see you again, too.

Just name it Meat....what do you need from your true fans...because I'm as serious as a heart attack..I will fly anywhere to give it to you? What do you need from us that we can do online or otherwise? I love you Meat....just talk to us.

dont let these jerks get to you Meat. I will support you no matter what you decide to do but it would be a great shame to end it like this. You have plenty of true fans who know that you are rocking it the best you have done for 15 years. Whatever you decide to do, i wouldn't base it on what's happened in Australia because everyone just jumped on the media bandwagon. Keep rockin Meat and most importantly stay safe :)

I really do hope he isn't quitting. Yes I want him to be happy but I can't believe for a minute Meat will be happy going out like this. He won't be happy and it will bother him for the rest of his life. I'm absolutely devastated right now at the prospect of it being true, close to tears.

If Meat decides it's truly time to move on, the bullies have not won.
Meat is a multi-talented guy. I'm sure there are so many other career opportunities he would like to explore. He works extremely hard on tour and we all appreciate it, but at the end of the day, it comes down to what makes Meat happy. |

So this is what he wants to do. Its the ravage aussie beasts that are bringing his muse to a stand still. |
If you decide you have had enough and you feel you can't give anymore then from the bottom of my heart I say good luck and god bless to you.
Forget the bad times and the bad shows, don't dwell on what you can't change. Don't let a few idiots bring you down...f**k em' The Meat Loaf I will always remember is the hard working, hard rocking and funny bloke whose music has helped me through some hard times, someone whos shows have given me so much pleasure and put a smile on my face since I was a kid. My first gig was a ML gig in 1988 when i was 11, that gig shaped me and the music i listen to now so im not gonna let some petty minded idiots ruin my memories. Meat Loaf..The best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be. God Bless Ya Meat, you are a legend! |
Dearest Meat, I'll just say what I said this morning. We're not the whole reason you do what you do in my view .. you do it because you have been given a gift and the inner drive to use it to the best of your ability while you're on the planet. But we are the best reflection of it's infinite value Try and keep that reflection in your view, because you know in your head and your heart that this is what you see every time you step onto an arena stage, walk out and see us waiting, and see it when you hold your hands high and look out at us cheering at the end.
It's a wonderful thing to be so wanted, to bring so much joy to so many. And when you do decide to move onto other things, other ways to use that God given talent, let it be on a high because you're fired with energy to make that move, not because you feel tired, frustrated, crushed by a bunch of jackasses. You don't need to answer them, or even try to prove them wrong; they are so by definition and action. You've always done it your way, on your terms. You have my love, support and trust, and that of so many. And we are legion. Caryl |

Hopefully, when Meat's had time to consider everything, he will remember that performing is what makes him happy. (I last saw Meat perform live this past April, and he and Paul were grinning like kids at each other through much of the show. They were having a BLAST! It was so much fun to watch. :D) Yes, the time to hang up the scarf will creep around sometime. But, imho, this is the worst possible time to do it. We all know this not the way Meat wants to go out - handing himself over to the "ravage aussie beasts". And Meat knows it too. I believe Meat's innate intelligence is going to prevail after some much needed sleep. Hindsight is always 20/20, and I for one don't want Meat to look back at giving up what he clearly loves because of critics who don't deserve the time of day, rather than when he is ready to do it from the heart, after planning and real consideration of everything involved. Meat, you've got the love and support of so very, very many. We're here. If you find yourself at the dawn of a new day and still feel the same way, please don't do anything rash. Let's talk!! PLEASE. With love and deep admiration, Sue xo |
You always tell us to ''never, ever stop rocking''---now don't you disappoint us!!!You were my very first concert this past summer in Belleville,Meat and you R-O-C-K-E-D!!!Back when I was undergoing cancer[s] treaments..you were my hope.I had promised myself that if I were ever better and able to see you and if you had came around my way;I would see you.You were my ray of sunshine during the darkest of hours. So when I saw you were playing Belleville-3 hours from me..my rock and roll dream came thru and you delivered.I thank you for giving me the experience of seeing a God of Rock perform.I have loved you for 32 yrs and will continue to love you till the day I die..I truly believe that it was you that had pulled me thru cos I don't think I would have survived .Keep on rocking,Meat!!

Meat, the US shows were some of your best received in years. The UK always receives you well. The Aussie press - not even the fans - ~~~~s you over so the last two years doesn't count?
I defend you all the time here, the HCTB shows I've heard are some of my favourite shows you've ever done, I think your last two albums are absolutely killer, I've been to a lot of concerts, worked with a lot of singers, seen Dylan a dozen times, Brian Wilson, R.E.M., Johnny Cash, Leonard Cohen, Alice Cooper, the list goes on, if any of them were playing next door to a Meat Loaf show I'd be at your show every night and thats no bull. They all have their gifts but none of them ever put it on the line every night like you do. You remain my favourite performer, but if a few naysayers - primarily the press, (who's whole motivation these days is putting down celebrities, especially visiting ones) is all it takes to make you hang up your hat, I can't deny I'm disappointed. It'd be sad if 100 years from now when people talk about the blood, sweat and tears, balls to the wall rock star that was Meat Loaf, they have to end the story with 'and then the Aussie press sank their teeth into him and he quit'. If the adoration and respect of 9000 cheering, paying fans a night can be drowned out by 90 pricks with keyboards, that's a huge shame, it's as good as saying we can't have music and can't have heroes anymore. I hope once you're out of Oz you feel differently. There's no place like home. Didn't you say it took you 40+ years to put together the perfect band? To do what, throw them away? If this really is it, I'll never forget all the energy, effort, comradeship and camaraderie I enjoyed through your music and performance. The ~~~~~~~s only win if you let them win. Love you back. |

To Meat,
You are absolutely a TRUE rock star, and an AMAZING entertainer. The music world at the moment I believe is aload of same old electronic recyled rip off's! You sir are a ROCK star, who gets in there, digs deep and kicks arse... and kicks arse... I've been seeing you live in London over the last 13/14 years... and you always blow me away. There is nobody out there like you. Your a true credit so rock and roll, always will be.... Period! I love, WE love you!!! Ben |

If anyone on here has ever been at a job where they had a boss who told them constantly that they "werent good enough", eventually you begin to feel like you really never will be good enough. You start to feel like even though your trying your best, you will only ever be sub-par. This is how Meat has been treated by the Australian media and AFL fans, and cyber bullies. And for the moment, Meat is really hurt, and I think partially buying into their bullying by believing that he truly is no longer good enough. If he felt otherwise, he would brush it off as ridiculous behavior, but he seems to be buying into the "meat's an old man who is past his prime" shpeil. That's like saying black people shouldn't vote. And young people cannot possibly understand life. Or that seniors have nothing left to contribute to socity. Or that Middle aged people are too old to go back to school and have a meaningful career. None of these ideas are "truths". They are stereotypes placed on us by society. They are the types of ideas that destroy hopes and dreams. Telling groups of people who they should be, and what constraints they automatically have on their lives just because of the "group" they belong to. Meat belongs to the group of rock stars who have been around for 40 years. Performers who have dedicated their lives to entertaining others, and have a tried and true approach that has proved to be immensely successful. These people are still very physically capable of performing, and although ALL of them have different singing voices than they did originally, these people are still talented singers and entertainers who have the ability and experience to entertain people. And it is a tried and true fact that a different voice does not always mean a "better" or "worse" voice. For instance, I fell in love with tom wait's older voice, the scraggly, scratchy screaming older voice. Its awesome to game to with songs like Hoist That Rag. I also love Neil Young's current voice and the emotion he depicts with it. Meat Loaf is no exception. His current vocal style is powerful and hard. I love that. And over the past year there have been thousands of satisfied fans who love it as well. What has happened in Australia is a racist attack. Only it is no race they are attacking, it is the group of "Veteran Rockstars". They are viciously picking apart all his personal qualities (that he has no control over) and telling him that he is not worthy because of those qualities. This, to me, is the utmost example of singling a person out because of something they cannot control. Be it skin color, gender, or age. And it disgusts me. It disgusts me how hurt they have made Meat over it. He cannot control his age and the changes it makes on his body, neither can any of us. So to end what I am trying to say. Let me reiterate that nothing about Meat Loaf has changed. He still gives his all, his performances still rock like the previous Hang Cool Tour shows, and he is still a veteran performer who is very, very good at entertaining others. What HAS changed is that he is being bullied because of who he is. And this I cannot stand for. None of us should stand for this. And Meat, if your reading this, please, please do not let these people's bullying cause you to end your career. We know your a figher, and you need to stand up to these bullies and say "I will not let you limit my life. Or change my plans for my future just because you hurt me". They dont deserve that power over you. Don't give it to them. |
Great post, Stretch. :metal:
|
There has never been a more appropriate song than this one, IMO. It's one that filled me with happiness as soon as you started singing it last year:
especially these lyrics: "You can't run away for ever But there's nothing wrong with getting a good head start You want to shut out the night, you wnat to shut down the sun You want to shut away the pieces of a broken hear" "I treasure your love I never want to lose it You've been through the fires of hell, and I know you've got the ashes to prove it I treasure your love I want to show you how to use it You've been through a lot of pain in the dirt, and I know you've got the scars to prove it Remember everything that I told you, and I'm telling you again that it's true When you're alone and afraid, and you're completely amazed To find there's nothing anybody can do Keep on believing" |
|||||
If meat calls it a day, then that's fine by me. I'd rather Meat goes on to do things that make him happy rather than have to put up with whatever for very little reward.

Lets just hope Meat comes back on here soon and lets us know he he's doing. Sounds really upset. I hope the whole band knows how he feels and that they're talking about it, and planning how to deal with it.
He's right, at his age, and with what he's done in his life, he shouldn't have to put up with this shit right now. Its too much, probably extremely overwhelming. Then again, you can't control people, they do and say what they please. When I find myself in these situations, my best bet is usually to talk to people, like my councillor or best friends. Have them remind you that you are good enough the way you are, and bullies are usually insecure themselves. They bully others because they are themselves the victims of bullies. You have to get back to that comfortable center of "this is who I am, this is what I do, it is good enough, I do it because I love this work, and my good work ethic should always be enough to get me through anything" |
Meat, you show me the enemy, someone I can fight to help you conquer these cyber bullies, and I will do whatever I can to help.
I just can't see who the enemy is right now. Its hard to tell who is upsetting you the most. But show me to to fight and I will fight for you. |

When I first heard of the concept of having a "web identity", like having people display who they are at all times, I disliked the idea, for security purposes. But with this issue with Meat, I'm really starting to come around to the idea that if people are no longer "anonymous", they will post with more caution. To see someone I know and care about, who I see perform and sweat and cry and laugh with us, be treated this way by anonymous internet jerks is heart breaking. And I want justice, but how can you get justice when people are anonymous? |
Quote:

The majority of the internet is a universe full of fools and trolls who hide behind a keyboard and write anything they think might be controversial or harsh in order to satisfy there sad little existence. They write disgusting comments without any form of conscious or humanity, it is disturbing and worrying but something that has existed for a long time and will never go away. And for the media and the press...they have always been that way, editing things, jumping of the band wagon making stories from nothing at all. There are very few reliable journalistic newspapers and sites that just report facts and don’t distort truth in order to favour a particular side. I have said this before but even megastars like Adele has said she wouldn’t dare go on youtube because of the hideous and hurtful comments people say would make her want to quit, the joys of freedom of speech ay?
I HOPE this is Meat pissed and he won’t actually take the drastic action of hanging up the hanky. Simply for the fact it sends a message to the people that they have some form of control over the lives and careers of others because of there views and opinions. Sadly people are influenced by the media on politics and popular culture, the media tells people what to wear, what to listen to, what to watch and who to vote for and sadly many people follow it, believe in it and conform to it. But perhaps more importantly i can say with my hand on my heart i don’t think Meat is at a stage in his career where he should give it up because he can’t perform any longer. Meat knows deep down inside he still has it, he can still put on a tremendous shows. He knows the majority of his fans go home happy, i will honestly say when i feel time has caught up with the guy and he should call in a day (and that day scares me if it ever happens) but that day in my view has yet to come. We can only imagine the pain Meat must feel, i feel deeply sorry for him and he has my full support. The hatred people have is cruel and unjustified and when you feel the world is against you, you just want to get away and leave it behind. I hope Meat comes here and realises how much we love him and we are all here for him. While i respect his decision i hope he gets back on the saddle, brushes it off and puts Australia behind him. The states and Europe are waiting for the album, they are waiting for Meat. |

I agree, Meat needs some space. He has things to do, things to focus on, raw feelings to heal, and some distance to put between himself and all the nonsense and ignorant abuse he's suffered. I believe he knows that he does what he does to fulfil his own passion and for his fans, and he knows his fans love him, still want to see him doing what he does so well, and support and love him ... and that will endure whatever he does or doesn't do.
You can only be pushed so far .. then you need time to regroup and get clarity. Meat isn't the man to give in to bullies who are simply not part of why he performs. He's achieved a peak in his game this past couple of years, and deserves when he does hang up the concert shoes to do this on a high, and because he has yet more roads to travel and mountains to scale. That seems to be to be the essence of this remarkable man. One of the most valuable things I've learned is that sometimes if you want an answer now it will have to be no .. if you are prepared to wait, it might be yes. We also serve who simply stand and wait ;) Caryl |

Hi Meat,
I would be dissapointed if you did leave you amazing carer after so many years. I was a bag of mixed emotions after you Brisbane Concert, I think I had been worked up up to seeing such a fantastic overall show and was a bit dissapointed but when I stopped to think about it a few day later it was FANTASTIC. I travelled to see you and I had the pleasure of meeting a wonderful lady and a fan of yours (original fan I call her) in the foyer that night and had travelled from the far reaches of the state (3 hour plane trip and a 5 hour drive to the airport) to see you I only travelled about 3 hours from NSW to see you but it was a dream come true for me. Aussies have a very bad habit of knocking people down that have acheived major things in their life and it is a very shameful habit of this great nation. Tall Poppy Syndrome it is called if they can't find anything bad to say about you they will make it up. Then you have the stupid flock of sheep that hang onto every single word and breath that comes from the media machines that feed them the crap that spills from their press machines. Seeing you in concert was the best thing I have done in my life and it was a reward for me (single mum with a disabled child and morgage money is tight) and it was the best reward I could ever have. My first time in hearing you music was on LP (yes remember those ?? LOL) and I fell in love there and then with you music, you lyrics and I must admit it was another 2 years before I actually saw a film clip of you. Your persona you love of life and you dedication to the music industry and the Painted Turtle has inspired many people including this lil ol mum. It will be a great shame if you do retire I would love to see you again personaly, and hope that my kids who have had you blasted to them since in the womb will be able to see you too (my daughter nearly killed me when I said I was going LOL) Thank you for all you have done and I hope that you will keep on rocking as you have inspired me to do in my life. |
