Ellen DeGeneres May 5th ~ guest Meat Loaf
All finders fees for this info should be credited to Vicki.
And this shall be paid via smilies and cheering smilies. According to said website below: Meat will be a guest on the ever elusive Ellen DeGeneres show. Mel and I have been tweeting her since HCTB's launch to have Meat on her show. However, I think Celebrity Apprentice has all to do with his appearance. Regardless, he's going to be on and I'm so excited. http://www.interbridge.com/lineupsdate.html#5/5/11 |
thanks for the great news:D can't wait... to bad he wasn't on there for HCTB
|
Wish he were there for HCTB, we tried, we really did. I tweeted her daily when it was launched. So did Mel. I don't think it was for lack of Meat Loaf wanting to do it....just the suits didn't make it happen ya know.

Wow Meat's on Ellen. It should be a wild interview in my opinion. He'd probaly do a duet of Dead Ringer or something like that. But since Ellen loves to dance, you'll probaly see Meat up busting a move or two.
|
David Spade on the same day. That is cool; I'll actually be tuning into this one. I have no issues with Ellen, I just dunno if I want to hear her sing ;)
If this was a world that went my way; I would like to see Meat and band do a kickass live rendition of Peace On Earth. That song is seriously up there in prime Meat Loaf music. I rarely have been listening to much else. Just alot of 'Hang Cool' and those old new Steinman recordings. I'm not ready to admit I have a problem; but my poor cousin he must hear the name Meat or Steinman at least 3 times a day :) |
its funny david spade is on the same night.
meat and chris farley looked so much alike. |

Can someone please advise which channel the Ellen show is on? cheers.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I suppose it would depend on where you live and what your CSP is. (cable service provider)

Thanks in advance Chris. ;) |
This will happen. Followed by a copyright reminder ;)
But hey while I'm making predictions, HCTB will have another video featuring Jack Black. Aand, Meat won't win the Celebrity Apprentice because Donald gave Meat his chair so he can run for president. Paul will dye his hair green. |

All this time I've been saying I won't get to see it..... I will, its on at lunch time here, and then at 5 on another channel.... those in Aus, am I right in thinking seeing as it still hasn't aired in the US, we will actually get it tomorrow? If so, thats brilliant because thats my RDO!
|
Not a very good interview. They threw me off right before I came out. They showed the Gary thing again , they were not suppose too.

Yes, a poor show .. and not inconsistent with hosts who prefer to discomfit their guests rather than get the best out of them. I think it's old news and pretty much put into a less "Wow!!" perspective by NeNe's outburst last Sunday. But Meat, you'll carry on doing what you do best, will win some as when you were on Jimmy Fallon's show, will get stuffed by some, sadly .. but you'll still be more newsworthy for your great achievements long after Busey has run out of steam .. and will be remembered more for the rock legend you created, and longer than a catty chat show host imo

Happy Thursday, meatie peeps !
I like Ellen's show. I haven't visited the UK forum for some time and didn't know until yesterday Meat will be on today's episode. I'm sorry, Meat, that you are unhappy with what happened.
I DON'T like Donald Trump or any show with which he's involved, but I am watching CA because you are on there. There's no way I'd be watching any other way. (okay, maybe if they roped in Vincent D'Onofrio or Johnny Depp... lol ... ) Continued good luck to you and your charity ... xo |

IMO the producers of the show think that people would rather hear about the "incident" AGAIN than hear about how great Meat is doing on the show. That's part of the reason I thought the George Lopez interview was brilliant .. yes he brought up the "incident", but they were able to make a joke out of it and was able to put Meat at ease right away. It just goes to show that George truly likes Meat, and is a better talk show host than a lot of the other ones out there. |

They gave fscking kristy alley a half hour..... and you 10 minutes? I call bullshit. What a jip, honestly. Pissed me off, as i love her show. Sucks to see you treated like that. But its like you said meat, "you gotta have a backbone"... and the producers of her show dont have one. |

Watched the interview this morning. On the plus side, Meat looked good and held his own against Ellen. And some good news came from the interview.
I usually find Ellen humorous and very engaging with her guests. I was definitely less than impressed with her interview skills today. I couldn't tell if she was competely intimated by Meat or if she had been swayed by others in her opinion of him and was less than enthusiastic to be talking to him. At times he almost had to tale control of the interview. I hadn't read what was posted here b4 i watched it, however after reading Meat's post, the whole tone of the interview now makes sense to me. it sucks that he was treated that way by the show. The good news: Even as Ellen was trying to cut him off when he was trying to talk, he said something like "Now I need to finish what I am saying" He was talking about the song Standing In The Storm that we know he is recording with John Rich, Lil Jon and Mark McGrath. He said that it is supposed to be released NEXT WEEK on i-tunes and the proceeds will be going to their repective charities. Can't wait for next week! we get new music and a chance to help his charity = win, win! |

NENE's behavior last week made her look like a 2yr old in comparison to Meat telling Gary not to "F***" with him.
The only reason these jerk off's make a bigger deal out of Meat's argument than Nene's tantrum is simple....... Meat is a CELEBRITY Nene is NOT. I don't like Ellen....or her checkered shirt and TIE. Only watched to see MEAT, and if he was told the Busey "thing" would not come up....they LIED, and I despise Liars. Meat, again, takes ownership...but I beg to differ that he is a "moron". Kar |

Just watched the Ellen show, and I think you did it great. You made me laught..alot..! And the Gary Busey-thing is getting preatty old, I think... I`m kind of tired of hearing about it, and I can just guess that you are too! As always, you go for the laught, and I really love that. Never stop doing that, Dude  I`m following the Apprentice, but one day later than you guys in the US. So, when the final is shown, I guess that I`ll just have too turn off my computer. Don`t want the others in here to spoil the surprise....can I do that?? oh...not sure if I can resist.....time will show  Tine |
To be honest I didn't think the interview was too bad, Meat ajusted well, given he wasn't expecting the whole interview to be about THAT moment....

Meat is almost invariably gracious with those around him, and skilled in handling his interactions wth others. He is grounded, quick witted, funny, articulate, usually pretty equable, only lost it for a brief minute when pushed beyond his endurance, and was clearly upset with himself that he had. NeNe (who I have to say I think is honest at heart, and not calculatingly devious like Star) seems to be a product of her environment, honed and encouraged by the reality show where she found her "fame". She takes offence at almost anything, could be offended in an empty room, and appears to be constantly compelled to "Tell it like it is!!!" in loud, emotive, colourful and language calculated to offend, and for which she feels no sense of shame or embarrassment at all. The shock would be if she failed to launch a sustained verbal attack over some perceived slight in every episode. Caryl |

Thanks for that :)
And as others have said Meat, given you weren't expecting it to be played as you waited to come on, yes, you dealt with it with the skill, honesty and charm we can always expect from you, and I'd be surprised if anyone who was there, or who watched the show, could fail to be impressed. And as has also been said already .. a moron you're not .. but nice touch ;) Caryl |
I'm still damned if I understand why any Meat Loaf fan would be surprised or disenfranchised by seeing his reaction to the Busey thing. We've had decades of seeing a volatile, exuberant, passionate guy wearing his heart on his sleeve. If you don't love him for that, you don't love him, period. Restraint and Meat Loaf simply don't go together, and being pissed off about being screwed over, especially where charity is concerned is just cause in my book. If Meat having a 'don't ~~~~ with me' attitude is news to you, you've been burying your head in the sand.
Ellen seemed like she didn't know what to make of Meat. I've always liked her, but frankly she sticks to a 'type' on her show, and that type is Tinseltown Darlings. I would imagine Brian May, Brian Johnson or David Gilmour would seem equally if not more like fish out of water on there. That aside, one other thing I wanted to mention - note Meat said they were mixing the song this week and 'sending' the song to iTunes next week. From what little I know I believe songs are sent to iTunes at least a week ahead of release, so I wouldn't necessarily expect the song to be available to buy next week. |

Now reading this post, I say you pulled off many things well. If you were irked because of what the show did, I think your professionalism out-shined whatever you may have been feeling inside. Example: after watching the interview, I addressed my texts on my phone. My sister in law (who saw you at Disney Grad Night of a few minutes ago ;) ) texted me, Hey tell me you saw Ellen today. Meat was on and he has the greatest personality. Hallelujah, Jesus, finally she's woken up after 17 years of knowing her. You handled the "old news" great, you explained it, you took ownership, you've moved forward and you've let the audience know it. I loved hearing about "Standing in the Storm" 's progress. I also think you are a very giving person to interview. You give so much information on one question, you make it really easy for the interviewer (they may as well be a totem pole holding a mic). Anyway, it may not have been the most comfortable interview for you, but it wasn't as bad as you think either. Suzieq |

Meat's the perfect guest for shows like this, he's polite, he gives such great answers and he's got a great sense of humour. A lot of people I know who see him on this sort of shows have commented about what a great guest he is. Suzie, my sister made a comment after watching Celebrity Apprentice a couple of weeks ago that she really thought Meat seemed like a really sweet guy and she wanted to give him a hug when he was crying. I'd been telling her how lovely he is for months but I suppose she needed to see evidence. Anyway, she told me that although she may not be a fan of his music, she's become a fan of him as a person. I think there are a lot of good things to have come out of Celebrity Apprentice, most notably the money he has raised for his charity but also raising the profile of that charity, the fact that he seems to have made some great friends and also there's the fact that more people are relating to him as a person and not just that guy who sings 'Bat Out of Hell'. |
Happy Friday, meatie peeps !
Welp, I didn't see the show nor have I watched any clips from it, but the report from Meat's new BFF aka my beloved husband, who did see Ellen yesterday is ... "I don't know what everybody's talking about... He did fine ... he was fine" ... So... there ya have it !!! ... lol ...
|
Well done, Meat, you did a GREAT job! If you were feeling uncomfortable, no-one would have known it! You were very gracious, as always.

My mother watched Meat on Ellen yesterday afternoon and had an interesting point, after I had been ranting about how ellen "ambushed him with the whole Gary thing". I tend get a little dramatic when I get upset - LOL! She said that Ellen didn' seem her usual self during the interview and that maybe Ellen was just as surprised as Meat was about the whole Gary clip being shown. Maybe the producers of her show kinda sprung that on her last minute as she was introducing him. Just a thought!
My mom has definitely become a fan of Meat's as a person. She thinks he is sweet, hard working, a gentleman, caring and has his heart in the right place. Even she agreed, as do I, that it was a great interview on his part and he handled the whole conversation about the Gary thing with honesty dignity and a great sense of responsibility! She even said that she will definitely buy me the Standing In The Storm single when it comes out especially since the money goes to charities! If my mom thought it was a good interview then it had to have been awesome. |

To me it's a useful way of Meat responding to the several appearances Busey did when he simply rode the incident for personal publicity  Meat was there to promote something other than himself, but when it was brought up presented himself so well, just as he did on other similar shows, that he does much to correct the impression of him that the edited show, reinforced by Busey's appearances, gave. He's a veteran in the business, and I'm sure knows he has some damage redress to undertake; not hopefully to his loyal fans, but to a wider and more general audience. Yes, it does need to become a one-off that gradually stops attracting comment, but it's good imo that Meat gets to show his class and what a thoroughly decent man he is, through appearances like this (when he got a very positive reaction from the audience), and in interviews with the media. And when CA comes to en end, it will imo lose most of it's attraction to internet boards, bloggers etc Caryl |
