Hmmm. I didn't expect to see a reissue of WTTN. Eventhough the bonus content isn't anything super special, and it would have been nice if the Beacon show was on the DVD as well, I pre-ordered it anyway.

'Is Nothing Sacred' seems to be completely out of place, as it was done three years later. And I never knew Red Light was done live. Interesting.

WAIT A TICK:

also, Meat performed hot patootie in 1985 at the Becon theater for the tenth anniversary of rocky horror. maybe thats what is on the CD:

http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r...h48m22s124.png

not complaining, so pumped for cd quality versions of Bat and Took the words.

Also.... REDLIGHT LIVE. omgomgomg

Adje 21 Apr 2011 00:35

Great to see something like this being released. I didn't pre-order it. Hopefully I'll be able to grab this later somewhere for half the price or less :-)

Too bad the Beacon concert is not on the DVD. Hopefully somebody will release that in the very near future. Then again, as I said, it's great to see any ...-edition release from a Meat Loaf album.

AndrewG 21 Apr 2011 01:43

Nice one Kev! :-)

It has been announced that Eagle Rock will release this song separately in its unabridged stereoscope format. Check Wikipedia. :-P

I love the WTTN album, it's my favourite Meat album easily.

This is truly a great collection of stuff you've put together.

Whats your favorite, and whats the better album are two different things.

BA is my favorite Meat album, but on a scale, Bat 2 is far superior cause of production value.

My favorite star wars movie is Episode six, but episode 5 is the best movie.

I bet it's probably the version from the "I'd Lie for You" single/"Live Around the World". (Which would make "Anything for Love" the 5:27 version from the same single, and "Bat" the Japanese bonus track from Wembley '94)

razorball2002 21 Apr 2011 08:56

Nothing really special that a fan didnt have exept for running for the red light live. i would have loved to hear or see a filmed version of left and the dark (beacon or other), which was ABSOLUTELY stunning live during that period. Meat took that song to another level.

carole 21 Apr 2011 09:03

This sounds fantatic. Just ordered mine. Let's hope there's no volcano eruption to delay it like happened with HCTB.

that whole disk is the show at beacon theater, 1995. Fans haven't heard the beacon version of AFL and CD quality versions of took the words and Bat.

my money is that the redlight live version is a typo, and its the beacon theater Dry Eye performance. Its really a win/win

also apparently hot patootie as well.

If its not a rehash theirs plenty to be excited about as a fan, especially the dvd with the interview and TOTP performances.

LucyK! 21 Apr 2011 09:49

Excellent!!! I adore this album, will be great to see all that artwork again too!!

Kev 21 Apr 2011 10:15

Kev, this is great news. I can't pre order it, but I confident if the 200 don't get sold too quick I will pick one up in the summer for sure. I just curious too Man, how does the whole set up process work...

Say someone says something like, this may sell again. And your company finds promos and items that go along with that album? Either way I ain't complaining, I just always curious what happens on the other side of the market :)

U would be a minority of minorities Dave. (We used to talk online, that's why I addressed you like I know you :) But more to the point, they are fantastic albums but its cool to hear people still have the same enthusiasm for CHSIB as I do.

There will be some promo behind this, not overly sure what yet, but EMI did quite a bit for the promo of the Bat 2 reissus a few years back. There was stuff in classic rock and mailouts and some other bit so hopefully much of the same here.

I don't see the 200 lasting too long once we've mailed our database, the forum have done theirs and when EMI do their meaty one!

jcmoorehead 21 Apr 2011 13:54

If I pre order when do I pay? On the albums release or now?

Kev 21 Apr 2011 14:12

Items are charged when they're ready for release so it would be at some point during the week before release when stock arrives.

Getting off topic here, but having the opportunity to be as close as I was to the entire CHSIB project - seeing so many shows and getting the demo from eBay far ahead of the curve. It is magic to me.

yes, right. true. I was just saying that musically, quality wise, left in the dark was a standout on this album. Not having it LIVE is a shame. I would have preferred that over Not a dry eye, and the 1000th live version of AFL, Bat etc. available for fans on various albums.
Other that ok, its great news having that reissued and i will order mine.
But I cant imagine i'm the only person on that forum that seems to miss that left in the dark song live??????

Also missing ORIGINAL SIN as well.

but neither original sin or LITD were performed at the promo concert in NYC in October of 1995. In fact they didn't get added to the set till the European shows.

Paradise wasnt performed either during the promo shows

Using the poor audience recording track lists from two promo concerts in early 1996, the promo set for Beacon was likely:

Rubber
Lemon
Midnight
DRFL
All Revved Up
Took The Words
Lie For You
Amnesty
Dry Eye
AFL
Bat
Red Light

Runnin' for the Red Light was Likely the finale, as during the tour they'd play the album recording of red light on the loud speakers after Bat while the audience was leaving.

Smithie 21 Apr 2011 16:43

Looking forward to it! Any idea what show Running for the Red Light was performed live?

Dave 21 Apr 2011 16:46

I know they performed Where The Rubber Meets The Road twice at the Hudson Theater promo show, as they had to reshoot part of it after hitting an audience member in the head with a camera boom.

interesting. whered you get that information :)

maybe the source could give you an accurate set list?

If that performance of the rubber on the cd and that aired was take two, id imagine take one was just as impressive :)

Sadly, the source is/was TMB. He started the whole Meat Loaf online revolution. He is no longer with us, having slipped into the eternal bat cave, but he is there keeping the berry juice cold for the Lost Boys and Golden Girls when it is our turn. It was amazing, every time he would go to a Meat Loaf show to hear the utter joy in his voice when he would call me with the details of the show(s).

Just pre-ordered it, WTTN was actually the first Meat Loaf album which I owned myself so it holds a special place in my heart. Got it back when I was about 9-10 to go with my first ever proper CD player. I had been listening to BOOH2 since it's release (Think I was 4 when it came out, I was born in 87, came out in 91 right?) but it and BOOH were my parents so this was my first proper album. :D

It also helps that it's a bloody amazing album!

BOOH2 was 1993 old boy. But I share your sentiments.

Im a new Meat Loaf fan so this is the first re-release of a older album ive had the chance to preorder. Which i just have done!. Sounds great, and ive only heard the singles from this album, so some of the tracks will be totally new to me.

I want to get the double disk version of BOOH2 as well, but it seem very expensive everywhere.

All the same, I can't wait for this one. WTTN is an amazing album, and my memories of the tour are fantastic. Quality through and through.

Hi Kev,

Already placed my order with you for it and can't wait. Two quick Qs though:
- Do you know if the album has been remastered? Or is it just a re-release of the original?
- And, if this is release is successful, do you see any plans for any other albums to be done in the same format (specifically wondering about Bad Attitude)?

Thanks!

Kev 11 May 2011 12:03

Morning.

There has been nothing mentioned about it being remastered.

As for the album you mentioned, thats a Sony title rather them EMI and I think they've done all they're likely to do with the 80s album. They threw them together with Bat titles for Piece Of The Action.

The good thing with the EMI stuff is that some money will end up in Meat's pocket, whereas the Sony stuff doesn't.

nowherefast 11 May 2011 17:49

Thanks for the info Kev.

Meat doesn't get performance (or songwriting, where relevant) royalties from any of the recordings on Sony BMG?!?

Did he sell them at one stage, or…?

Kev 13 May 2011 17:19

The story is that meat accepted a £/$10m payment but was owed much much more from BAT alone. I'm sure someone could fill in the details?

Right. :|

So I assume this deal was forthcoming from the label when Meat was flat broke, or close to, in the 80s?

It's sad that its such an oft-repeated story that some of the most rediculously popular/successful ventures generate so little (relatively) for the people behind them. At least it kept Todd's career afloat all these years.

No, Meat had to fight his way back on his own. Almst impossible to take on these fat-cat giants in court I'd have thought when you've lost everything and simply have to get back on your feet and rebuild to support your family. Fortunately Meat had, and has, the guts to do this, as well as a talent no record company could own.

My recollection is that the settlement Meat finally accepted was late in the 90s .. and even last year Popovitch was still involved in litigation with them
