OMG,OMG,OMG...
OK im not too sure if this is the right place to post this but i dont know if any of you have read my blog.. But i previous applied for an audition for britians got talent.
Which was last month I was told that I had to wait up until 3 months before they got back to me. Before I Found out if i got thru to performing infront on the Judges, I was so nervous when i was audition i messed up a few times but they gave me another chance, i walk out feeling like id blown it... I Never thought i would get thru to performing infront of the live judges but today I got a phone call from the head office at "Britians Got Talent" say that I made it through to the Judges on the 18th January 2011. I can't actually believe I got that phone call im so exicited after all these years of me doubting myself I'm finally getting some where doing something I enjoy. |
I don't want to :shit: on your parade or anything, but does the fact you messed up your audition not make you a little bit suspicious that you could be set up as the next Wagner? :bleh:
|
It's one of 3 things ... 1) they think you're pretty good and might get somewhere; 2) they think you're bad enough for people to laugh at you; 3) the call was from a friend to wind you up.
Hopefully it's #1 :-) |

Well when i was speaking to the woman on the phone.. she said "You must have received a lot of phone calls & Bookings" which i haven't due to lack of promotion as i suck at promoting. Everyone I've performed for family, friends & work colleagues all have told me that i was really good. |
What meat song are you gonna sing?
|
Well done! How exciting! :) No matter why they called back, a call back is a call back afterall and another chance to show what you can do! Good luck and keep us updated!

I havent performed since 2008, which was the same routine thru the hole show, wasnt my idea.
And when performing something different infront on an audience and not known what effects your going to do, there is a big change of you messing up. That is why i messed up on my first go. |

Don't want to piss on your parade, I wish you good luck. HOWEVER, I would imagine that what that woman said, is EXACTLY what they will say to everyone and especially the bad ones so that they build up this HUGE expectation and you will look absolutely dumb struck when Simon Cowell calls you a useless wet blanket. This is exactly what they want. No doubt you will have to sign a waiver which states you cannot mention anything about previous rounds or what the researchers told you. Just don't expect much is my advice and don't let them influence your hobbies or interests too much. |

And I don't let anyone put me down, the way i see it the most important thing is too believe in yourself.. which im starting to do more off now than wot i did before.. It doesn't matter what Simon or any the Judges say to me, there criticism wont change the way I feel or effect my what I do. I know one thing for sure Simon hates magic so he's going to dislike me anyway. |
Well that's fine then if you have that attitude. Go for it and hope to see you on TV. :))
It just really bothers me when I see a lot of deluded people think they are great and the crowd shouting "off! off!". As I said I think a lot of that is because of previous positive build up and high expectations which I'm pretty sure the show itself is responsible for. |

But this something that I've set my goals on and even if i don't get thru I'll still continuing doing what I do. And I will keep trying until I do get through this has being a dream of mine since i was a kid and I hope by doing this I will get some more publicity, Its not about winning its about talking part that counts. |
Good luck !

If you've got talent and you want to show it off, don't make excuses, show it off  |

I thought Simon wasn't going to be on this series? Michael McIntyre and David Hasselhoff (?!) have been brought in to replace him and Piers Morgan.
Good luck. I was supposed to audition, but didn't end up going. Maybe next year ;) |
I was on the news the other day that Simon is back.
|
ah, I see he's coming back for the live stages. Hope you get that far!
|
I would actually kill to be pon one of these shows. good luck. Cannot wait to see this.
|
They've not got to the point where they're that desperate for ratings that they'll have convicted murderers on. Give it a few years and then try it.
|
Good luck to you mate, although I do hate that show as it's more about fame and money than music. If you just love singing then that's great and I really hope you do well.

 That's great news, hope it goes really well  Quote:
But only he knows how badly he messed up, so my advice to him is to be completly honest with himself, how bad was the mess up? Did you cut your assistant in half and put her in two different wards, or did you get a false start on a riffle shuffle that only you noticed? Only do stuff you are completly confident with. Stuff you could do in your sleep. Then practice it again and again right up to the show. That might seem a bit of a waqste of time, but you want what you are going to do to be second nature by the time you are in front of the judges. Again, looking at the negative, you may have been set up as a magician who gets things wrong (there have been a few) but even if you don't get through, you can avoid being one of the series jokes and deliver a performance that will get your name out there and help your reputation. Again, to throw my $0.02 in (I started doing magic 22 years ago, so I know what i'm on about lol) you should be performing. Performing performing performing performing performing. It's the only way you'll improve. The only way you'll get any experience. The only way you'll find out what style suits you, and what does and doesn't work for you. Get involved with charity shows (there is no shortage), your local magic circle (I dare say they have society shows, and if you can perform to a room full of magicians, you can perform to anybody) , show tricks to people in the pub, just perform as much as you can in different situations. Serve your time and learn your craft. To not perform for two years because you are learning new tricks and working on a web site is not a good reason. Do the tricks you have while you expand on your repetoire ans build your web site. Don't even think about looking for proffessional bookings at this stage, because it sounds like you've not done enough performing yet. Learn how to use your tools and polish your performance and you will then have a skill you may be able to turn into a proffession. Good luck with everything  |

Im not planning on doing card tricks on my next audition. I tend to used the routine i did on stage back in 2008 as thats never failed yet. One of the reasons I've not performed as much as I should be is because I can come across as really shy and sometimes don't know how to approach people /companies when introducing myself and then theres routine I stil havent worked out a routine for any shows so i never known what to perform i don't have a favorite trick/ effect as i like them all equally I tend to spend 2 hours a day going over everything I no. I'm also finding it hard promoting myself and getting noticed. I currently live with my dad whom hates magic so i have no one to practice on for feedback or to take photos/ videos on my performing. I'm a member of The Glasgow magic circle which i have being for the past 5 year now but i feel i'm a bit to old to be there as the youngest person is 13 and I'm 26 I got a phone call from a local bar the other day.. asking me to pop in and do a performance. So Im looking forward to that.. |
Well that's a start, good luck with that.
