Meat Loaf on Celebrity Apprentice in 2011 ?

I know we've seen rumors about this before. But I wonder if it could actually be true :??:

http://www.gossipcop.com/meatloaf-ma...ty-apprentice/

I don't know how the show works. But I've also read somewhere that filming starts next week in NY, so maybe Meat could film most (if not all) of the episodes before he does the shows in the UK and Australia :??:

If it is true, it's a great opportunity for Meat .... and would definitely give me an excuse to watch the show every week :))

melon 14 Oct 2010 03:18

And it'd be an interesting thing to see I would think.

Thanks Vicki!

Thanks for posting Vicki, that is interesting. But it's not shown over here so I won't get to see him if he is on it.

Nice find, Vicki.

Did anyone see TMZ yesterday? Meat was at LAX and the paparazzi asked him how he got his name and what his favorite food was. Meat said he's a vegetarian.

The American Apprentice sucks soooo much in comparison to Alan Sugar's version. That Trump clown is useless imo.

Evil One 15 Oct 2010 23:17

Plus there's no Nick and Margaret. They were the best reason to watch and one of them has gone now. :bleh:

Thanks anyway Suzie, I'll try to watch it again.

I managed to watch it, Meat looked great. And they had a couple of Aussies there too. I love Eric Bana. I can't believe that woman didn't realise Air Supply were Australian.

Aw c'mon Pud, you don't see opportunity here?

First and foremost he has the opportunity to show that he's not just a pretty face ;)

Pudding 18 Oct 2010 03:34

I'm being serious, how is it a great opportunity for Meat? I'm not saying him being on the show is a bad thing, I'd just like to know how it's an opportunity, an opportunity to achieve what?

Well okay since you took all the fun out of it...let's talk about what could be an opportunity for new open doors. Doors that would normally be shut, may now open. Depending on how well the challenges go, he without a doubt will put his best foot forward. When radio stations get wind of Meat on a hit show, they may see $$$ signs or ratings soar if they book him on the show. He may have corporate exposure at this point and that is a great thing. More people book him...more opportunity to get a plug in for the album. You get where I'm going I'm sure.

Another avenue is the show usually has a humanitarian effort challenge and this could be an opportunity win the hearts of "new fans" (imagine that) of the man himself (because he is kind and giving). These are just a few that spring to mind.

But if you can't see any opportunity at all, then I guess I'm just being a little forward thinking.

I've only ever thought about the opportunity to raise money for charity  I'm guessing that's the only reason Meat would do the show too and not for any personal opportunity to gain exposure for an album that had been out on the market for 10 months and a tour that would have already finished.

There is the double edge sword on this, and the way Meat could be portrayed and edited in the show he could end up looking like a complete buffoon and not taken seriously at all.

Then you probably should have said this in the beginning when I asked "you don't see any opportunity here?" A simple answer could have been "yes, I see the opportunity for a money raising charity event". But, you had to go all "serious".

No matter what length of time it's been after release, Meat has said he isn't done yet and WE aren't done yet.
At least I enlightened you to the fact that there could be a positive break for HCTB with this exposure. Glad to help. ;)

The purpose of every task on the show is to raise money for charity, with the money going to the charity chosen by the project manager whose team wins that week.

You mean like Rod Blagojevich? That was easy, considering he is a complete buffoon!

I'm from Illinois- the only reason I watched was so that I could hear Donald say, "Rod, you're fired". It didn't take very long, needless to say.

Exactly like Rod Blagojevich. I'm sure if they wanted to they could've portrayed him better, but he was an easy target and I'm sure they took great delight in emphasizing his mistakes. If Meat gets off to a bad start or starts going off on a tangent like he's prone to do in interviews, I don't think the producers are going to be that sympathetic if it makes good TV.

according to John's FB update. Its for Celebrity apprentice.

That was bad enough, but the absolute lowest for me was when he tried to shake down a children's hospital by refusing to give them State funds unless they gave him a campaign contribution. I already couldn't stand him for other reasons, so I felt absolutely no pity for him when he went down. And then the arrogance he's shown since it all happened just disgusts me.

They put him on trial, which lasted for months (he declined to testify on his own behalf, probably a smart thing, because he would have dug himself a hole, and I'm sure his lawyers knew it), and then the jury only managed to convict him on one count (after deliberating for I don't know how long), and were hung on the rest due to one holdout. So, now we get to do the whole thing over again. Only this time, the judge said he can't have his high-paid lawyers anymore. I can't imagine he has anything left to pay them with, anyway. The only ones I feel for are his two young daughters (his wife's involved in some shady dealings as well). Amazingly, he still maintains his innocence, and even made claims that he's going to run for office again.

I think the only reason he did The Apprentice was to try to garner some sympathy from the public. It didn't work with me, anyway. It was clear on the show that certain of his teammates didn't care much for him, either. I mean, the dude couldn't send an e-mail, and his excuse was that as Governor, he had thousands of people working for him, and he didn't need to know how to do that? Give me break! He sure knew how to work a telephone, though!

robgomm 18 Oct 2010 23:04

I so wish I was gonna be there tomorrow. Hopefully the show will get shown over here in UK.

AndrewG 19 Oct 2010 00:53

Basically it's a video of some Apprentice clowns trying to get away with serving up half pizzas in a restaurant. Bunch of muppets. They didn't really get away with it. It's a good thing it's blocked. I shouldn't have to pay TV license for a bunch of Ozzie freeloaders. ;-) (Just joking!)

Possibly, but I think it would be a mistake to apply Meat going off at a tangent in the countless interviews he has to do with the way he'd approach something like this. He's sharp, focused and hugely competitive. He'll want to win, and in my view will put the same focus on objectives, planning, detail, budgets, and end result to the tasks as he does to a show. Imo he's creative, a high energy deliverer, adaptive, a task finisher, and has the ability to enthuse others and keep going.

I know whose team I'd rather be in .. because I'd believe we were in with a stong chance of winning :-) It's the people who have no sense of focus who generally let themselves down and are made to look foolish. Success is hard to edit out ;)

Meat may never forget he's there to entertain .. but he doesn't lose focus when he's competing!

That statement is proven by what example? and please don't say golf

I don't question Meats focus and drive to use the opportunity to make as much money as possible for his chosen charity, I question how he might be made to look on TV for ratings.

Carole

CarylB 19 Oct 2010 10:53

I don't know why I should need to offer proof of "that statement" .. even you've just posted you don't doubt his focus and drive. But there is plenty to support it .. all Meat's sporting endeavours from baseball, football, softball to poker etc, the fact he so frequently says that he applies that same focus to his shows and everything he does in business, the time he spends on his fantasy sports endeavours, the thoroughness with which he prepares for what he gets involved in, his ability to learn lines fast and to focus in his acting roles. He acknowledges he's intensely competitive (against himself and his standards as well as those he competes with) and "focus" is his hallmark. Imo he's the kind of person who can stand back and break tension with something lighthearted and then immediately focus back on the task in hand; I've seen him do it. And he can quickly move focus between different projects without dropping the ball. He manages involvement in several projects at the same time, without losing focus on any one, switching his attention with apparent ease. A very useful skill set.

Caryl

Evil One 19 Oct 2010 11:22

Non of which will stop the producers taking a couple of things out of context and making Meat look like a right prat if they want to. :(

CarylB 19 Oct 2010 12:25

As I said, possibly. But it's hard to edit out success, and I have faith in Meat's potential to be successful. He's not a politician caught with his fingers in the till, nor an eclipsed star looking for a come-back. He's built himself a successful career twice, against many odds. I'm sure he'll entertain and be fun .. but imo he will play to win.

Yeah I'm sure he will too. I used to watch The Apprentice, I always enjoyed it, and would really love to see Meat in it. But the show isn't on here any more and hasn't been for a few years now, which is disappointing. :(

But why do you think they would want to?

AndyK 19 Oct 2010 16:17

Because in shows of this genre it's what the producers think that the public wants, reality show showing staged (edited) real life. Ratings are driven by out of context drama. Meat's as much at risk of being singled out for that treatment as any other celeb on that show.

glamourgirl 19 Oct 2010 16:44

Cyndi Lauper is a successful artist, but last season, they portrayed her as a nitwit. Regardless, I like the show and it will be good publicity for Meat.

suzieq 19 Oct 2010 17:03

I suspect that's more about using it to drum up support and solicit people to turn up at events and buy from the teams. Mostly this thread's been about the programme.

Right, but I don't see why he'd be any more likely than anyone else on the show.

I like Cyndi, though I think she's a bit eccentric, as are many creative people; nothing wrong with that. ;) I don't think it hurt Cyndi's chances at all- she actually went pretty far. I was kind of surprised Donald fired her when he did- it seemed obvious (to me, anyway) that he was fond of her.

One thing to remember is that the contestants also need to be able to get along with their teammates, because it is the team that decides who to put up for elimination.

I probably would have watched this season anyway, because I kind of got hooked on it last year (I would have liked to have seen Sharon Osbourne win, but I was very happy for Brett Michaels), but if Meat's on I will definitely watch. :-)

Not knowing any of the other celebs who are featuring I can't comment on why he'd be more likely than anyone else. We all know Meat is a big character, and that character pretty much always shines through when he's in a group. If he lets the Meat Loaf public persona loose then anything can happen, and I can imagine the producers jumping on that in the edit suite, if he's more "himself" then the chances are lessened.

Sarge 19 Oct 2010 20:57

So Meat Loaf hunts ghosts and sells pizza... What's next?

Dave 19 Oct 2010 21:22

Here is a recap of the day from a FB friend of mine:

Quote:

I just got back from the Meatloaf appearance at Famiglia Pizza...Meat was cool, running the cash register. Lilttle Jihn and Gary Busy were also running around the place, and I saw a few Rocky Horror folks, fun fun fun.
The best part: 2 young ladies approached me as I was at a table eating a few slices and they asked me if they could have a photo with me. I took off my sun glasses and asked " why do you want a picture with me?" and one said " You..you are Meatloaf, arent you?" LOL
I explained that I was his son, and my nick name is MeatBALL, and pointed out Meatloaf behind the counter. They smiled and laughed and said " Oh my God, you two look SO much alike! " Hehhehehehehehehehehehehehehehe, cool beanz
Fun, fun...

Vickip 19 Oct 2010 21:55

Thanks for posting it Dave :)) And IMO that's what it's all about ... everybody having fun raising money for some worthy causes :-) But I have to admit that seeing Gary Busey in person would scare the heck out of me

You know perfectly well that I didn't .. but he fought his way back and to the top largely through his own determination, focus and hard work, particularly in the USA where he had to start by playing small venues again. You want to tru to diminish that? .. go ahead. In my view it's evidence of Meat's drive and detemination, and I admire him for it.

Another strength is his constant drive to make things better, never accepting that he's reached as far as he can go, and his preparedness to take risks. I made my living working with senior managers in industry to develop their skills. Meat has imo many of the qualities and competences they need for success.

I think we get it, you like Meat Loaf, but do you have to list every possible quality he has in nearly every post about him? Here's me thinking he was only human

but do you have to list every possible quality he has in nearly every post about him? One of your silliest replies.

When you have to resort to rudeness and daft exaggerations .. you're out of facts. But that's your style. You take an opposing view, and when someone replies you get bored and just hurl some rudeness. Discussion's impossible .. it's Pud's way or no way.

I suggest you don't ask questions if you find replies so tedious.

This is the closest I could find to "official" confirmation :

That's twice you've said that in different posts

I haven't heard of most of those people. The word celebrity is applied to almost any nutjob these days.

Meat Loaf performing yoga moves :lol: No seriously, just chances of him doing other ordinary jobs are highly likely with the Celebrity Apprentice. Brace yourself Sarge.

That picture is awesome! haha

What's so special about a celebrity doing something millions of people do every day and why do you need need a TV show with a competitive concept to "raise money for some worthy causes"?

The latter because they can which in a sense is good but I am guessing another reason is for it to look like there is a moral reason for why they are doing what they are doing.

Are they already filming the show?

AndrewG 20 Oct 2010 08:51

In the UK the current season of The Apprentice which is being broadcast was filmed over a year ago.

Some sites are blocked for me at work, so not sure if one of these is the one posted by Netty or not. Anyway, enjoy:

Wow, David Cassidy!

I think it's great that the Celebrity Apprentice raises money for charity. I see it as a win, win, win situation: the network gets ratings, the contestants get publicity, and the charities get funds. It's not as if the contestants need a job, like the winners get on the regular show, so I'd rather see them do something to give back.

Yep :)) In this picture, he's on the right, walking behind Mark McGrath (carrying some pizza toppings ? in his hands). I'm so used to seeing him with the long hair .. I almost didn't recognize him
