I don't consider the Stoney shit to be a real Meat Loaf album and I've never listened to it nor probably will.

to be honest it was very hard to define the middle ones cos they all have some good tracks - the only ones that i am really sure of is number 1 and number 10!

Unfortunately White of Highs standing are kind of official as they are based on peoples ratings, so this thread is pointless to be honest.

Can't rate Stoney & Meat Loaf as I have the vinyl but don't have a record player so have never played it.

True, but a lot of people have also since left and won't/can't vote on this one. ;-)

I think White Of High periodically updates it so you can still vote.

I don't care for the circumstances it was recorded in, I don't even know what you are talking about. In the first 10 years I bought Meat Loaf CDs I could only do so in proper record shops, I didn't use Amazon or anything like that till 2002. Since I never, ever saw it in a CD shop I simply don't consider it an album that was widespread released, he probably didn't give a shit about himself so I think buying it can only be considered an act for completists rather than that it something that is missing form my Meat Loaf albums catalogue. :shrug: If that's a meat loaf album then where is the Ted nugent thing?

My post wasn't really a reaction to you, I'm merely agreeing with you that it isn't really a Meat Loaf album. I just think the recording arrangements or conditions are irrelevant. In addition if it's a Meat Loaf album then why is it missing from his back catalogue list in the very best of CD booklet? In my opinion Meat's real solo career started with Bat, everything before can't even be considered prologue imo.

6. Dead Ringer - average, bad producing
7. Bat Out Of Hell 3 - if Meat's voice and the arrangement were poor
8. Hang Cool Teddy Bear - simple happy Bon Jovi stuff
9. Couldn't Have Said It Better - looking for the 21st century
10. Blind Before I Stop - 2 epic sonngs and other poor
11. Stoney & Meatloaf - low budget I'm gonna show you album
12. Midnight At The Lost And Found - 1 good song and lot of poor

I'm surprised to see you rated HCTB higher than CHSIB and higher than I did after the stick you have given Meat over the last 6 months. Not such a bad album after all then surely?

Shoving a Greatest Hits/3 new song album in that comparison list doesn't make any sense to me.

On HCTB I found a great song, Song of Madness, on CHSIB I didn't find any 'red songs'. HCTB is not a good album at all, but better than CHSIB...

No way, I'd even settle for paying £10 just for the title track of CHSIB instead of getting anything that was on HCTB. Shove PFL on HCTB and fair enough, then it's a tricky comparison. ;-)

chsib never hooked me, so i'd easily rate hang cool above it

Can't say I really care about the rest as albums - some good to great songs, but not consistent enough to be ranked with the above.

BA is surely comparable.

If you could somehow magically take the 80's out of Bad Attitude then you'd have a stonking album, instead of a very good one. :shrug:

Well yes, like I said Bad Attitude (the song) and Piece of the Action are really great, especially on the Bad Attitude Live video.

The thing about Meat is that he takes good songs and makes them great in a live performance, but the 80s album recordings just don't really do it for me.

At school back in the late 80s / early 90s everyone knew Bat Out Of Hell, and then Bat 2 when it came out - I only discovered 80s Meat much later, after the event - I guess because the 80s stuff (in my opinion) just isn't as good...

Classic Meat is timeless both in terms of the production and the quality of the song writing - I put Hang Cool at no. 5, but who knows in 5 or 10 years time it may suffer the same fate as BA ? Awesome sounding production for its day but without the strength of song writing to sustain its longevity. Hang Cool may date in the same way that BA has dated ... ?
