105. Song Of Madness

This is the START OUT OF HELL & ARRIVE TO HEAVEN topic.
Let's Go to Rock 'n' Roll!!!!!!!

Song Of Madness (9)

I loved Life Is A Lemon, I loved Land Of The Pigs. When I heard the first song on the album, Los Angeloser, I almost got a heartattack. I hated that! After that I wasn't curious of the album anymore, but I've heard the Rockcamp video with Song Of Madness and I thought the entire album will be perfect. So, the album is not a high level for me, but this song is still perfect. I love it. The lyrics is sometimes weird and out of rhythm but the melody is very good. Definietly this is the best song on the album. This is the only one on the way of Steinman. Well done, Meat!

My score: 9

Yeah, a masterpiece like Masculine it is not, LOL.

I love that song, best track on the album. It's interesting how much it differs from the original version, would like to know who was responsible for the changes.

To be blunt, I agree with that seriously i do. Masculine has a rhythm, a beat, and a fantastic riff. People may joke about it but I love that song as much as people love FCOL.

but with SOM, the first time I heard it it did nothing for me. Still doesn't.

I do like the "Thank god my queen. Just Lie To Me. Make make beleive that I am King. and by Morning" verse. But thats it.

Ill give it 4/10. i think my 3 may have been too harsh

when I first heard the youtube club of it I thought it was going to be a huge part of the album, but it just doesn't seem to really go anywhere for me, like it's stating 'yes it's designed to sound like Metallica/Disturbed but we're not sure what else to do'

5 for me

Awesomely epic harder rock song. Another excellent one to turn up loud. I also love the "My god my queen just lied to me, made me believe that I was king, but by morning..."

Yes it is designed to sound like Metallica the same way "In the Lands of the Pigs" was, and to be honest it actually does. I can picture James Hetfield singing "Song of Madness". It wouldn't look out of place in a Metallica set list anyway.

This is song is thousand times better than any Metallica sh*t. I just cannot stand Metallica who has collapsed rock/metal music in the start of '90ies...

Huge and heavy rock track, with quite complex lyrics that convey the character's spiral into rage, hurt and bitter sweet contemplation of everything that he's lost. There's such despair in the heavy and insistent music and in Meat's voice. It's a hugely forceful track, and brilliantly delivered.

10+

It's top of the list too!!! Which is a very fair reflection, because it's the best song on the album IMO.

:shock:I'm going to keep myself calm and respectfully disagree with you. While I identify more with their work from the 80's, I would say their resume in total is impressive and worthy of legendary status.:!:

Digging the sound! The guitar dominated tracks of the past five years have really worked. The lyrics and they way they are sung is perfect; this song is amazing! 10

RSG 28 Feb 2013 05:52

Still amazing. With these earphones I tell you you pick up every wammy on the guitar... Incredible song on a incredible album..

Meat Loaf_fan 03 Mar 2013 11:01

This song is not (to me) the best on the album, but (in the same time) it's not the worst. What does it mean? I think it's quite good, but it lacks passion/emotions which have many songs from "Hang Cool Teddy Bear" like: "Peace On Earth", "Elvis In Vegas" and (even) "Did You Ever Love Somebody". So I have trouble with judging this track ... but I will try: my score 6/10.

PS. But when it brings to live version, that is another part of shoes ... Then I will give it 9/10.

RSG 03 Mar 2013 14:23

Oh, I feel the passion is there. Not in the Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad or Anything For Love Style... but like the fire that was in Life Is A Lemon... I wonder if you mean it's not a lovelorn passion.. cause there's a heat from Meat .. a real grab a fan by the collar attitude to it.
Also I think the song sort of teeters on an Shakespearean play.. I can't recall which one it is.. but it has been reenacted on The Simpsons. King gets murdered by his brother. His brother wants to be King. But the heir to the throne is the King's son.. hey a Disney movie! ;) ;) with an R rating

Breeze 03 Mar 2013 20:51

love it. Steinman worthy. Give it a big ole 10.
