Meat's I'll kill you if you dont come back music video?
Was this ever released on anything?
not officially. It was aired on tv as part of the 1981 "the return of meat loaf" documentary" and I think it's very likely supposed to be a part of the dead ringer movie.
thats really sad. the video is excellent. IMO the best of the DRFL videos
i agree
Where can I see this?
used to be on youtube...

This is all that comes up when you do a search for the song |
The music video is blocked in germany. thats why.
This song is one of Meat's (and Jim's) forgotten classics.
I do love that video, would of loved to own it as I totally agree, it's one of the best. Mabe Caryl has it on Republic Of Loafdom but it's a very long time since I visited that site....
yep ROL have it posted, but its just 7 clips.

Posted it. Just hoped their was some sort of official release.
Thing is, its blocked in germany:
A lot of people gripe about Meat's voice during this time, but I think it was actually good. He stayed in a certain range most of the time, but it was more operatic vocally that most of the other albums.

Good Lord, is that from the Dortmund concert that was shown on TV?
Yes. It certainly isn't the best.
Did Jim perform with Meat in 1981 or was that an alternative audio recording that was used? Never knew about that. Thought they pretty much stopped performing together in 1979.
Yeah his voice does sound crap on there. My god. |

worst version ever. he looks like he may be drunk and forgot a line lol |

Sounded very much like Jim to me certainly at the beginning but that does make sense whether it was Buslowe or Jacobs or some creepy lovechild they had.
so the question is... davey johnston was in the vids on guitar for the dead ringer songs, and performed live with band a few times such as germany... yet theres speculation the live vids might be fragments of the dead ringer movie... which is likely to have happened first?? the tour or the movie?
I thought the movie included footage of the tour.
if so, the tour happened first... the deadringer vids arent live, looks to me like promo vids, like the bat ones
It looks to me liek the Deadringer promo vids were shot during tour rehearsals ... in the live settign but without a crowd and without the band havign to play live, in the same way as some of the Bad Attitude promo vids were shot.
In his autobiography he states he only did like one show before the DR Tour was cancelled by the studio.
I dunno if the movie contained tour footage... BTW: Thats odd as Dortmund 1981 and Wembley 1982 were part of that tour... |
Maybe he means he cancelled the US Dead Ringer tour as there was a Dead Ringer tour of Europe. There was definitely a show in Sweden as well because I've heard a bootleg of it.
The videos for the Deadringer album were filmed, I understand at Westchester Premier Theatre whilst the band were rehearsing for the tour. The videos also formed the concert bits of the deadringer movie. Most of the band was together then although they were still auditioning for a female singer - don't know who the girl in the videos is but Pam Moore got the gig shortly thereafter. There was one (or possibly a couple more) concert of the official deadringer tour - huge affairs with Meat flying across the stage like Peter Pan and huge arrays of speakers but the whole thing got scaled down and cancelled. That then became the European tour as we see from Dortmund / Wembley, more conventional in scale. Davey Johnstone was with the band through the early part but then went back on tour with Elton John to be replaced by Steve Hunter
Happy to be corrected, but I think that's pretty much it |
im not gonna argue with that...
excellent info!!! |

didnt he fly around in an angel costume? I seem to remember seeing some rehearsal footage...
I have a photo of Meat floating above the stage in an angel costume and the caption says that it was taken from the Dead Ringer movie.
By 'like Peter Pan' I think my source may have been describing the flying style rather than the costume - I've seen the angel pics. I'll try and confirm exactly what he was dressed like in he concert

Well here's a far better version of the obscure music video. less Pixelated and more complete:
not gonna lie, the MUSIC in that version of two outta three, especially the intro was great. Meat however....not so much
and IKYIFDCB is one of my favorite Meat songs. In fact, the whole Deadringer album is underrated gold.

Monster song from a monster album.. I just love the video too. Meat with long hair... seems so long ago now.
For me, Deadringer is by far Meat's best album. Apart from the totally irritating Deadringer for Love, it contains Jim's best songs and Meat's voice is truly amazing. The emotion in these songs is incredible. That glass smash in IKYIYDCB followed by the melancholic piano and the crescendo at the end still sends shivers down my spine. Oh hours with my old record player singing along with my hairbrush interrupted only by my dad shouting "jesus for the last time, turn that f*cking noise down!" every 15 mins. Ian. |

There are some great songs on there but sadly Meat's voice didn't do them justice. Even if it had, there's still nothing to match FCOL or Objects. That all said, it is an album I like to listen to now and again, if only because I don't play it nearly as much as either of the Bat albums so it reminds me what a good album it was. Dave |
I'm Gonna Love Her For Both Of Us comes close, but it really needs remastering. The LP sounds so much better.

I only bought it relatively recently - I guess I'd been put off all these years because of all its negative publicity : not as good as Bat, Meat's vocals not up to much, the second difficult album etc, etc, where its only problem was it was the long anticipated follow up to the greatest album of all time. Judge it as a stand alone album and its fantastic - I actually love Dead Ringer For Love, and MTYD, IGLHFBOU, and especially IKYIYDCB, and even, yes even, Peel Out and Everything is Permitted. Its so underrated ... |

I love the "Dead Ringer" album. "Read 'Em and Weep" is phenomenal, and "More Than You Deserve" and IGLHFBOU are great songs as well. I even like the title track. :-) (I'm a Cher fan) I think the banter is hysterical, especially the line,
"You've got the kind of mind that does less than think". |

Dead Ringer
I had the same reaction as Dave when I first heard Dead Ringer but over the years its the Meat (and Steinman record) that gets played most by me and definitely Meat's 2nd best album and probably my second favourite of all Steinman's work. Why a favourite? The songs - from an era when Jim was still writing original stuff rather than recycling, the band - Max W, Steve B are prominent; the production - its a rock album, Jim and Jimmy Iovine cut the basic tracks and set the tone. Jim seemed to continue that production style into Faster than the speed of night, in my view his best production job. Then we went all electronic for secret dreams and pandoras box. Jim sought to pull it back perhaps on Bat 2 but in retrospect, much as I love that album and it means a lot personally to me, it doesn't stand up well in terms of production in my view - trying too hard
So I got used to Meat's voice, saw a great concert at Wembley in 1982, that I still enjoy and should be released. It may have been troubled times for Meat but the songs endure for me A full remaster of DR would be great |
